Zyrtec with food

Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec with food

zyrtec

Avatar n tn He has done quite well with Allegra for seasonal allergies, and even better with Zyrtec. Zyrtec is OTC but allegra is not. Both are well tolerated with Risperdal. Benaadryl is not good with Risperdal. My son, age 17, is zonked out when he takes both. He basically is out like a light and doesn't wake up in the morning (until about 12 hours later) the few times he has taken it. Not good at all. Claritin does not work for him either, nor anyone in my family.
3539331 tn?1347554407 While my experience with food allergies in dogs is related to skin itch, the reaction can also surface in other ways I believe. Now if your dog just has allergies during spring it could be seasonal, not food..
Avatar n tn Even Walmart has been injecting their meat with hydolyded proteins that I will itch with. So even whole food ingredients now have to be checked. I did have a sore throat for a year in high school and it was a goiter that had to be removed. About the 5th doc I saw finally recognized it. But since you also have itchy ears it is more likely, aspartame or some ingredient with glutamate in it. Hope you find out so to avoid it.
Avatar f tn I am in the EXACT same situation with my soon to be 6 year old. SAME thing... eye rolling, head movement and he CONSTANTLY has the "ahem, ahem" throat clearing. I talked to our Pediatrician and was told that because my son is on Zyrtec (same as yours!) that it could be a side effect from that and was told that they would watch it for 6 months.
Avatar n tn ve never needed or asked about zyrtec. I have Hepatitis C and cirrhosis, and am currently nearing the 42nd week on triple tx with Incivek. As they say though, results may vary, so ask your own doctor.
1232362 tn?1333135406 Yes, I do give Akira Zyrtec. I give her breaks from taking the Zyrtec, too, though. I figure if people can build up resistance to antihistamines that it would be reasonable to assume that the same thing can happen to the cat. I generally give her the Zyrtec when the allergies are bothering her the most so that I don't give her too much.
Avatar f tn My son stopped eating solid foods a couple of weeks ago. The doctor checked out his throat and nothing appeared to be wrong. He also has not had any traumatic incidents happen that we are aware of that might trigger this reaction. It began a few weeks ago, he would spit out food occasionally at a meal...this would get worse and he would spit out several times. 2 weeks ago he came home from school without any lunch eaten, this is when I decided to take him to the doctor...
Avatar f tn m allergic to 7 meds; my kids are not allergic to any meds that we know of, but my daughter has 3 food allergies.
Avatar f tn My dad use to get hives in that area from tomatoes. You may want to make a food diary to detect what food may be triggering the reaction. I've also noticed that stressful periods seem to make hive reactions more prevalent - more reactive to an allergen or sometimes just to the stress itself.
Avatar m tn Next day I started taking Zyrtec. Itch stopped but rash still continued to appear and disappear especially on my neck, arms, and hands. It appears mostly when I finish my shower even though I don't use hot water in shower. I did blood test days ago, I have ALT = 51 which is over the limit (46). Months ago my ALT was 26. I stopped using Zyrtec, and my doctor told me to use Atarax. However, its been a week and the rash is still the same. I am very worried about it. What shall I do?
Avatar f tn Simple moisturizing creams, wet soaks, calamine lotions etc are generally enough to soothe the symptoms of hives of pregnancy. Try these along with Zyrtec. Zyrtec also causes hives, sounds strange when it is used for the cure. It is also possible that Zyrtec is aggravating your hives. Please take a skin test or RAST test to know what you are allergic to. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult an allergy specialist.
689528 tn?1364135841 Our poor boy suffered until we found this new vet, every other night, we would do oatmeal baths, benedryl cream, benedryl pills, alcohol rubs, ice.. it was heartbreaking. We can totally relate. Now with one zyrtec per day, he is a new pooch! Our vet said either Zyrtec or Clariten, which ever one worked better, and was cost effective. I sincerely hope this is helpful. Good luck to you and poor itchy. P.S. - We give the same zyrtec one pill dose to our female boxer, she is 65 lbs.
Avatar m tn If so, your best bet might be to seek therapy that could enable you to live better with your illness, to better tolerate the chronic pressure, and get on with your life, much as people with chronic pain are able to do. This might require psychotherapy to address the "mental fog-out-of-it feeling, sometimes referred to as depersonalization with or without a trial of other psychotropic medicines. Good luck.
Avatar f tn ve also seen a dermatologist and she said finding the root to the problem is difficult therefore nothing can be done but to continuously taking Zyrtec if my body responds to it. Even though I know Zyrtec can temporarily stops the outbreak, I try not to take much as I fear there might be side effects (I heard it can make you infertile if consuming over a long period of time? Not sure if it's true). ...Help!!!!!!!!!...how do I get rid it permanently?
Avatar n tn Has he actually been tested for food allergies, so you know what to stay away from? Do you have him on any kind of antihistamine? Since his episodes come and go he should also be tested for weed, tree, and grass pollens. It wouldn't hurt to have him see a dermatologist to rule out any other underlying skin problem.
Avatar f tn Well I didn't go see the doctor by I called him the day before yesterday and started taking Zyrtec and I took some Tylenol. So far my fever has broken and came down out of the 100's and down to 98.8. The only thing is I'm still congested with vomiting if I eat regular food. As of right now I'm still drinking lots of water, eating light soups, and eating jell-o. Lately it seems like I go to the doctor like every week.
Avatar m tn m literally allergic to everything...food, outside, inside etc...to just take zyrtec and deal with it. I do not believe I'm allergic to all of that, I mean Potatoes?!? There is no way. Anyways, I take a zyrtec each day but tonight I had a hive pop through and makes me nervous that I could go into anaphylactic because the unknown terrifies me. Im usually pretty calm and relaxed but how far can these go?
Avatar f tn Went to a doctor and was priscribed over the counterver Zyrtec/Cetirizine for the hives. Took them and immediately the hives vanished. Everything was going fine until the hives started to come back more and mroe regularly to the point I had to start taking the Zyrtec everyday to control them.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with acid reflux last year.the coughing after eating was my symptoms.now I am havin problems clearing my throat all time.pulmonologist suggested Claritin d with my nexium.doesnt seem to be working...any other allergy meds would help....maybe Zyrtec?
681148 tn?1437661591 It seems like Akira has seasonal allergies and dust allergies in addition to her food allergies. Because I really don't want to give her long term steroids, I decided to only give her the 1/4 tablet of Zyrtec that the vet told me to give her before. I try to wait 'til I just have to give it to her, because I know that people can build up a tolerance to antihistamines, so I figure that animals can, too.
Avatar n tn has zyrtec been banned,i cant find it anywhere,if it has been banned then wot was the reason?
Avatar m tn Hi, Sudden swelling of lips after eating something is usually due to food allergies.Get a blood test or food allergy test done from an immunologist if the symptoms persist. Regards.
5347058 tn?1381188426 Usually an allergic reaction for a cat manifests itself on the skin(most common) this can be anything from scabs, itchiness to hair loss. and is associated mainly with a food allergy....sensitive commonly to a preservative or ingredient in dry kibble type food. grain allergies are common in cats and most cat foods are full of unnecessary grains just b/c they are 'cheap' fillers for the manufacturer, they do absolutely nothing for the diet!!!
Avatar f tn I also take my Zyrtec at that time. I just started the probiotics and was taking them with breakfast but have read that they should be on an empty stomach. That's my only real empty stomach time because of all my other stuff so now I'm concerned about them interacting with my thyroid meds. Anyone?
