I had a terrible itchy rash and little red spots over most of my body. The itch was especially tormenting at night.
I have to take 2 every 4-6 hours to keep the itching at bay, but I have no other allergy symptoms so I know the itching comes from the Zyrtec withdrawal. I will try taking the Benedryl for a few days when I go to bed to see if I can actually sleep longer than 4 hours at a time. Yes! Night time is far worse in the itching category. During the day I can take 1 Triease gel tab every 4-6 hours and subside the itch just enough (although the itch never completely goes away).
I am in week 4 of the Olysio/Sovaldi combo therapy and am disappointed at the side effects I'm experiencing. Prior to starting the treatment I was very encouraged by what I was finding on the boards, especially after two bad experiences with interferon treatment and an allergic reaction to ribavirin. Unfortunately I am experiencing maddening itching which I'm controlling with Allegra and extreme fatigue and an all around foggy feeling.
Even though I know Zyrtec can temporarily stops the outbreak, I try not to take much as I fear there might be side effects (I heard it can make you infertile if consuming over a long period of time? Not sure if it's true). ...Help!!!!!!!!!...how do I get rid it permanently? Sleeping is usually difficult as I often wake up in the middle of the night due to the itchiness. :S Anyone else suffer a similar thing?
sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP!
Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.

You should take these antihistaminics after consulting your doctor because then the side effects of these drugs will be properly explained to you. Moreover although steroids have many side effects but they are very useful in cases of dermographism and hives. The doctors start with steroids especially topical ones and then shifts to oral ones. Alsothe dose of steroids is tapered off by the doctor.
