Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec medication

zyrtec

Avatar f tn I've been on Claritin/Zyrtec my whole pregnancy. I know Claritin is approved, I believe Zyrtec is fine too.
Avatar f tn HORRIBLE ALLERGIES! it depends what works for you. My doctor has gave me the okay on zyrtec, benedryl, and claritin. Claritin doesn't work for me so I take a zyrtec EVERYDAY morning, than about 6 at night when it start wearing off I have to take a benedryl. Hope this helps. & hope you feel better.
1605619 tn?1301631851 I take prilosec every day and my doctor says its fine. I would get off the zyrtec D and start the 24 hour zyrtec liquigels. You only take it once a day. You don't need the decongestant in the zyrtec D. You may be stuffy for a few days until you ween yourself off the decongestant but you will be okay. If you have that much diarrhea try taking some iron pills. I take 324 mg b/c of low iron. It makes you go a couple of times a day and regulates you and your stool.
Avatar f tn I know that Benadryl is safe during pregnancy but that stuff knocks me out and the rest of my day is shot... Any suggestions on what other allergy medication is safe to take? That won't make me drowsy?
7945295 tn?1397658820 Do any of you lady's take zyrtec for allergies? I don't like taking anything period but my allergies are sever. I claritan with my son but I feel like zyrtec works better. I was told its just as safe but figured I'd see what you lady's take.
Avatar n tn t know of any problem with taking Zyrtec-D with Plavix. You can also read your medication leaflets with the medications to check or check with your pharmacist. If you are being treated for high blood pressure or heart disease/vascular problem, I would NOT recommend taking the Zyrtec-D WITHOUT discussing this with your physician.
Avatar m tn Yes, it is possible to "become" allergic to something you've never had a problem with in the past - and yes, it's possible for it to happen suddenly like it did with the cat. Another thing to consider, though, is whether there may be something ON the cat that you are allergic to rather than the cat itself. Did your girlfriend recently start using a different shampoo for the cat? Different flea/tick medication or collar?
Avatar f tn I was told to take zyrtec. Now I have a rash on my upper thighs. Is it the generic zyrtec? Would the regular Zyrtec do the same? Have you ever heard of Diamox being prescribed for Meneire's disease? I find nothing in the literature about it and am hesitant to take it as it makes me very tired. I need to sleep about 3 hours a day when I take it. I don't want to experience vertigo again.
Avatar f tn I am 9wks 5 days my allergies are killing me. Which medication is considered safe?
Avatar f tn Zyrtec is a medication that is used for season allergies - in other words it is an antihistamine. As the Zyrtec has not helped it is highly likely that you have a viral or bacterial infection. As you have no doubt seen your doctor, I trust that he has prescribed you with alternative medication, depending on what the doctor decides is causing your throat problem.
Avatar n tn I checked my favorite drug site and they are the same. OTC Zyrtec is essentially the same medication. Some people say that Xyzal is a more 'purified" form of the chemical. You can try Zyrtec to see if it works as well. Take care.
Avatar f tn I would call your doctor. I know plain Zyrtec is fine to take, but I'm not clear on Zyrtec-D. I believe the only difference is that it has Pseudoephedrine in it, but I'm not 100% and your doctor would be the safest to ask. You should just be able to call and ask and find out over the phone.
Avatar f tn You are not supposed to use Zyrtec during pregnancy cause it's not a class B medication but you can use Claritan or regular Benadryl. Neil Med sinus rinse is awesome and you can pick one up at CVS pharmacy. It flushes out your nose and sinus cavity.
Avatar f tn Zyrtec cannot cause ear/sinus infections. Ear/sinus infections are caused by either bacteria, a virus, or a fungus. Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) can help with allergies in some people, as it's a powerful decongestant, but it won't work for everyone. I've double-dosed on Sudafed before to try to alleviate severe nasal congestion, but it had absolutely no.effect.
Avatar f tn I saw a urologist, who did a cystoscopy and he said everything was fine, my bladder was fine, and my urinary tract was fine, and that as a urologist he could no longer help me. He suggested that I speak with my psychiatrist because of the medication I am on. I take lamictal, concerta, pristiq, seasonique, and zyrtec d everyday. But i'm just confused because I have taken these medicines for over 6 months now and have not had these problems.
Avatar f tn I have always heard that you are not supposed to take any medication. I want to know, is there any alternative if you have to take allergy medication? The only reason I ask is because my eyes swell, I sneeze non-stop, and if I get over heated I weeze and cough a lot. I was thinking maybe a allergy shot could be a alternative to oral medication and nasal spray.
Avatar n tn Hi, it sounds like you have had quite an ordeal with these allergies! i also have allergies, but mine were bad enough that i developed asthma and had to go on several medications to get it under control, now i only take zyrtec as needed. i don't know about allergies that are "digested first" with zyrtec, everyone has different reactions- but zyrtec is systemic so it should be help equally with your sore throat and itching.
850029 tn?1238857820 Does anyone know if you can grow resistant to antihistamines? I've been on Zyrtec for a year and feel like it doesn't work as well as it used to. I know that I have more allergens around me but would think I still should be getting relief. I spend at least $100 a month trying to get some relief. I'm thinking with nothing working I should just save myself $100:) the only time I feel someone what better is taking Advil Cold and Sinus, the Zyrtec seems to do nothing......
213739 tn?1215486009 m in my third trimester and am dying from the ragweed and my doc. said zyrtec is completely safe to take. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm still nervous about taking it but I also can hardly breathe so I guess the benefits outweigh the risks since little guy does need oxygen. Let me know if you've taken it or if your doc has said anything about it! Thanks!
Avatar m tn Never was able to find a cause but my doctor had be start taking an everyday allergy medication like Zyrtec or Claritin. Once I started that the hives went away and haven't came back. I would first see if you can find a common irritant you can eliminate. If not try taking Zyrtec or Claritin.
Avatar m tn My 5 year old has been picking her scabs on and off for a year now. She seems to have seasonal allergies also. I have noticed when she is on generic Zyrtec for the allergies she doesn't pick as much or stops all together. Then after a meeting with her teacher it was brought to my attention that when she is picking a lot her school work suffers.
1517808 tn?1290813790 some days its hard to walk and makes my job very difficult. i have heard of a medication called Kynatomine which is used for treatement of the liver, but heard good things about it in the treatment for hives. if anybody has any info on this or other treatments that worked for them it would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies anyone of you on allergy medication. I ask because today getting my 5 year old ready for school I made a mistake of taking his allergy medication (singular 4 mg ) insted of my prenatl pill. know I'm waiting patiently on my ob to call me back...
Avatar f tn Starting with Zyrtec, this is an over the counter medication generally regarded as safe. It only is in the system for a short time based on its half life. Children can take this usually without incident. However, once stopped, some allergy sufferers are uncomfortable. Perhaps this is what is going on. Again, please talk to his doctor. Why did you discontinue it? Was there a particular reason? It's an antihistamine.
