Zyrtec for vertigo

Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec for vertigo

zyrtec

The vertigo can be caused by fluid in your ears as a result of sinsuses or an ear infection. You can get Meclizine over the counter to take, it should help with the dizziness, but it may make you very tired so do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it will affect you. Also you can get an antihistamine, such as Claritin or zyrtec to clear up the fluid. If you are concerned, you should see a doctor.
I have also been having vertigo issues for the past nine months or so. Have tried several medications such as zyrtec D, Flonase, Nasonex, Xyzal....also nasal rinses, and some vitamins and herbs...nothing works for long. Today the doc decided to start testing me for allergies to try to get to the root of the fluid and swelling in my ears. Your results sound interesting. I have in the past from time to time has what I think are fever blisters around the corners of my mouth.
I've been diagnosed with depression, and generalized anxiety disorder. For the past, i'd say, abotu 6 months, I've been experiencing on and off an annoying and scary sort of brain fog. This is the only way I can describe it. It's almost as if i'm living in some type of dream world, and everything is super unreal. It waxes and wanes. I went to the doctor at a time it was really bad, and he brushed it off as sinuses and gave me some zyrtec. Needless to say, it didn't help.
Hello, I'm 36 years old - good health and had sudden onset vertigo/slight hearing loss/pressure in one ear. I went to the doctor immediately and was given prednisone (steroid). The vertigo has gone away almost completely but, the hearing loss has remained. I had a MRI check and several blood tests that checked out completely normal. The doctor suggested I have Labrythintitis. It has been almost 4 weeks and the hearing is still about 75%.
I hav been researching this for a while because I suffer from them as well. Mine started December 2012. I have had vertigo (BBPV) for about 17 years, but have never experienced it like this. I had a crazy vertigo attack in a dream and it was so bad it woke me up and felt so real! Only when I woke up everything was still spinning. I got sick and drifted back to sleep when it happened again an hour later.

in the last 4 months I have had some pretty severe bouts of vertigo and dizziness (the dizziness has not gone away). And most recently, for at least 2 months I have felt disorientated where I just kinda feel out of it like I cant process things, I can most accurately describe it as being drunk (I dont drink.) I have seen about 10 doctors with no diagnosis. 4 MRI's which have shown inflammation but no cause, and blood tests that were inconclusive. Any other ideas or help?
I went to urgent care on Friday because the vertigo was really bad and the Dr. put me on zyrtec and Flonaize because she seemed to think that the constant post nasal drip and congestion and fullness in the ear was because of the constant congestion. So far that has no helped.
Hey All, So, about 2+ weeks ago I was in my shower and closed my eyes to wash the shampoo out of my hair, threw my head around a little bit to rinse it all out, flung my head back and when I opened my eyes....my whole world was spinning! I couldn't even walk and almost collapsed. Needed to go to the hospital to see what was going on. They did MRI of brain, chest xray, cast scan, ekg, etc and they said i had vertigo.
I was told to take zyrtec. Now I have a rash on my upper thighs. Is it the generic zyrtec? Would the regular zyrtec do the same? Have you ever heard of Diamox being prescribed for Meneire's disease? I find nothing in the literature about it and am hesitant to take it as it makes me very tired. I need to sleep about 3 hours a day when I take it. I don't want to experience vertigo again.
I have heard that sleeping on your back with your head upright at a 45degree angle is good for this?? I take zyrtec and Aleve to combet the allergies and inflamation but need some good advice on other non- drug ways to fight this symptom.
The only treatment we have found was giving her allergy medication -zyrtec/Claritin for 3 days then she will not have anymore vertigo until 2 months has gone! We had her tested and she has LOTS of outdoor/indoor allergies. We also taken her to an ENT- her hearing test was great, just a little ear wax in the right ear and then they dx her with Menniers Disease! I feel this is an inner ear/ allergy-sinus problem. Her nasal cavities are always swollen-says the dr.
I HAVE SEEN MY FAMILY DOCTOR AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS inFECTION in MY ears AND HAD BEEN GIVEN THE DRUG KETEK AND ALSO zyrtec AND IT HAS TAKEN CARE OF MY PROBLEM FOR THE TIME BEinG. AS OF NOW KETEK HAS BEEN DISCONTinUED AND HAVE FOUND NO DRUG THAT will COMPLETEY RID MYSELF OF THE ILLNESS. I HAVE TRIED CIPRO, BIAXin, AZITHROMYICin, LEVIQUin, AND ALEVOX AND NONE SEEM TO GIVE ME THE RELIEF THAT THE KETEK DID.
I am being awakened by vertigo about once a week from my sleep. The episodes last anywhere from 10 seconds to several minutes. The longer they go the more nauseous I feel. Moving makes it worse, but I can usually find a position that will make it better. It appears that lying on my back is the worst position. When I wake up, I have a low-grade headache & my neck is sore. I also feel disoriented a bit and shaky for a day or two.
Allergy meds dont seem to help. Allegra, claritin, zyrtec, tried them all with no help except for my seasonal allergies that I am used to getting June through August. I dont have any cough, or wheezing or any trouble breathing. My nose doesnt run, nor do I feel the need to blow it, or even feel congestion in my nose. I have noticed that if I press above my eyebrows in just the right spot it is a bit tender...

I came out positive, and I'm presently on treatment for HSV. My Meniere's attacks have stopped. No more vertigo, ringing in the ear etc. It makes sense, because if the virus caused an infection in, or around my middle ear that explains the fight, which is Meniere's disease. And when the virus becomes inactive, Meniere's goes on remission. There for Meniere's is not a disease, but a symptom of a disease.

Three months ago I went off BCP, which I was only on for 1 1/2 mo and it has changed my life. I got horrible headaches, chest pain, shortness of breath, chest tightness, extreme muscle fatigue, dizziness, vertigo, blurred vision in right eye. I have had chest x-ray, ekg, blood test, mri's ( A&V) on brain, and echo, diabetes, lymes, and a eng test on my arms which indicated a c-5 and c-8 problem, but the c & t spine mri's were both good. All normal.
as long as ur system can take it.Otherwise, u may need antivert for prolonged vertigo....but more meds, mean more issues for me.
A CT scan was negative for stroke, and ECG was negative for heart attack. DX. Vertigo possibly due to virus (???) Eye not related to Vertigo (???) .......Referred me to see eye specialist, cardiologist, and primary. Today my eye and left temple are sore and I am experiencing discomfort in the orbital area. Background info. I am a 55 year old Breast Cancer Survivor, still on Tamoxifen and currently using the very low dose Est-Ring.
I have had a mild headache for 3-4 weeks combined with fullness in both ears but mostly in one ear, occasional vertigo and tinnitus. I had this 5 months ago previously and the doctor said that it was a virus. I don't believe that. She prescribed a nasal spray steroid and antibiotics (zithromax) in case it was bacterial in origin. It took 2 months to go away and now it is back. 14 years ago one ear was attacked by a herpes virus and left me slightly deaf in that ear with tinnitus.
They can percribe medication s to help blood flow in the ears buts ome meds can make asthma worse. I can't take anything for mine for that reason so i try to just live with it. Seach engine it if you want to know more hope it helped.
Putting bobby-pins in your ears is VERY DANGEROUS. You can peirce your eardrums, causing hearing loss for life, and yes, vertigo as well. I understand that this is nervous behavior. You CAN turn this particular nervous behavior on to something that is not harmful, like using a wet or dry cloth on your face and ears. Try removing all bobby pins from easy access. Then make cloths easier to get to. It may help you further if you pull on your earlobes and/or outside parts of your ears.
Hi Thanks for such a detailed and clearly written post. Eye twitch is usually due to stress, tiredness, eyestrain, caffeine, alcohol, dry eyes, nutritional imbalances, allergies. It is also one of the symptoms of Bell’s paresis or palsy. Please refer: http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/eye-twitching.

I went to my doctor and he did some allergy testing and I am allergic to grass and dust.Around this time every year I get a week of vertigo, sore throat and chest heaviness but I have no wheezing right now.I also get this sick taste on my tounge and throat.the itchy eyes are all gone,no more sneezing but I still have the sick taste and heaviness.I have had 24 hr. heart testing so its not that,I think its just the allergies.
I went to the doctor and she said I have Vertigo and gave mes ome medicine for it. It does not help at all. Then about a month ago I sat down at my computer and I started seeing spots, then I started to feel very weird. I started getting very dizzy and started losing my peripheal vision. Then the left side of my head and arm went numb. I was taken to the emergency room where the did an MRI and made sure I didn't have a stroke. They diagnosed me with migraines.
I havent tried anything, b/c im a dufus, except for some regular zyrtec for 2 days... didnt do anything. So I'm trying the zyrtec D tomorrow! It's so funny, b/c my anxiety wasnt helping... I kept doing the "WHAT IF" thinking... thinking the worse! And after my Dr. told me sinus pressure, it made sense... it feels like sinus pressure. Believe it or not, allergies and sinus pressure can make you feel heavy eyed, tired, fatigue, dizzy, and some vertigo. Love my Dr.
