Zyrtec for skin rash

Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec for skin rash

zyrtec

Avatar m tn Treatment is with Corticosteroid ointments applied on the rash for a short period of time to reduce the skin inflammation. Claritin and Zyrtec are anti-histamines which provide relief from symptoms like itching.
Avatar f tn I was told to take zyrtec. Now I have a rash on my upper thighs. Is it the generic zyrtec? Would the regular Zyrtec do the same? Have you ever heard of Diamox being prescribed for Meneire's disease? I find nothing in the literature about it and am hesitant to take it as it makes me very tired. I need to sleep about 3 hours a day when I take it. I don't want to experience vertigo again.
Avatar n tn I was also advised to take Zyrtec and wondered if Zyrtec had any more benefit for skin reactions thank Claritin. Claritin didn't help at all. Two dermatologists suggested Zyrtec over Claritin . I hesitate to try the Zyrtec as I took it once a few years ago and promptly feel into a deep sleep. If it is better for the skin than Claritin can it be taken at night and do any good? Your help is greatly appreciated. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn I bought my husband some Zyrtec and he has been taking one a day for a few weeks now and the itching is gone!
Avatar n tn I have had a rash on my face, sides of my nose, below the nose and my chin, which has now started spreading to my jaw line. The rash has been there for two months and no matter what I've tried it won't go away. It is tiny bumps and some of the red dots are under the skin. It itches slightly every now and then. Please let me know if you have any idea what it could be and what could be used.
Avatar f tn Specifically small red bumps underneath the skin. It started as a reaction to the strep throat but now its been over a month and the skin rash gets worse. He's also developed 4 blisters on the back of his calf that he says hurt and itch. He scratches from head to toe and can not find relief in any of the meds he's on (zyrtec, locoid). I don't believe it is eczema could you tell me what other possible skin problem he might have?
Avatar m tn 10th week,, I had rash out of no where.. Maybe an allergic rash... BUT I never had allergic rash for a long time, like when I was a baby.. And now... Not much of a symptom but may be a drug side effect, diarrhea.. My story is I had protected sex and unprotected oral from a high risk person (I guess). Havnt have sever symptoms up until 8-10 week time frame. But symptoms do disappeared the next day (for example.
Avatar m tn Of course some rashes are not the typical ribarash - then you need a dermatologist to take care of it with a prescription. But for the general old rash.....any good lotion that is nice and thick and won't wash/wear off easily should help a lot. And also hydrocortizone .1% like you would use for a kid with cpox and also the oatmeal bath aveeno stuff are great to use in addition to the regular applications of lotion.
Avatar n tn If there is a strong family history of asthma and allergies, I suggest that you seek consult with an allergologist for a skin test just to identify possible triggers.
Avatar f tn I had to get some prescription meds (fluocinonide ointment to apply, hydroxyzine tabs. for the itching (bedtime), clobetesol liquid for my scalp itching, and Zyrtec for am (zyrtec is over the counter, or I could use claritin for am). The prescription meds are working whereas the over the counter meds had stopped being effective. I had a derm consult too and she prexcribed the hydroxyzine, the clobetesol, and more of the fluocinonide cream.
Avatar n tn The only thing I've done differently at that time started taking Zyrtec for allergies.
Avatar f tn They appear all over my body including face. This has been happening for two months now. Would hiv rash do this? Could it be herpes? I have been to both my doctor and dermatologist who have both said it is chronic hives. Could it really be chronic hives or does this sound like std? Please help. I'm scared.
492921 tn?1321289896 When it was horribly itchy I use the Palmers Coca Butter OIL (not cream) for dry irritated skin and it helped. But I hated the smell. Now I just apply Johnons and Johnsons Moisturising body lotion as its non greasy (I hate the geasy creamy feeling after piling on certain body lotions) and it goes into your skin very quickly. I tried The Body Shop's Shea Butter but found it too greasy too. Jergens was too greasy to me too.
Avatar f tn Also, with my first pregnancy I broke out with severe itching on my lower belly which turned into a rash. My doctor said its a type of pregnancy rash that can occur and she prescribed me some amazing anti-itch cream that cured it right away. Hope the itching stops soon!

Avatar f tn I have in the past 2 months started to get a raised rash the skin appears red and dry on my face and on my hands. It is on my lower cheeks and on the back of my hands. It is raised and small bumps are gathered in areas. They are itchy and if I scratch at them too long the bumps break and there is clear liquid under them. It does not appear any where else on my body and it has not been spread to anyone else in my family.
Avatar m tn My son has an ongoing poison ivy rash for the last 2 weeks. His rash is oozing but the ooze smells nasty. Is this normal??
Avatar n tn My daughter has recently spent three weeks in South Africa, working in a medical capacity.  During the last few days there she began to develop a terrible rash.  It is on her trunk, legs, arms and on her face. Three dermatologists don't know what it is.  She is presently taking a strong antihistamine which helps the itch of the bumps which are already present.  When they have not erupted, they are extremely itchy regardless of medication.
Avatar f tn The rash remained visible but I felt like I could breathe easily! I took steroid pills for a week and it was about 80% cleared up for the first time in many months! I went back to the dermatologist and he finally said I was having an allergic reaction to something, a "contact allergy". He said to take 2 Zyrtec in the morning and 2 Benadryl at night. About half the rash went away. Now the rash is back worse than ever! I have no idea what I'm having a reaction to.
Avatar f tn Still, there is no visable rash, but my skin feels almost like it is covered in chemical burns and I am very uneasy. I have a doctor appt on Tuesday, but feel like I can't last that long without relief. Please, please help me!

Avatar f tn For two years I have suffered from a skin rash which mimics scabies. I have had various tests including biopsies. The rash now covers my entire body and itches a lot. For many years Ihave been on thyroid medication for nodules on my thyroid. Could the rash be related to my thyroid? Avatar n tn I currently have her on Zyrtec and that seems to help with the itching, but the rash is just as red and angry. No cream I've tried (including prescription cortisone) seems to help much. Now she won't let me put anything on her skin except a spray moisturizer. I noticed this evening it is spreading to her trunk (which up to now has been clear)... I'm trying to determine what this may be... we have an appt.
