Avatar m tn I've had difficulty breathing for 7 months after a bout of bronchitis. Here are my results... Is this asthma, chronic bronchitis?? But my most important question is, could this possibly be EARLY emphysema??It also happened about two weeks after getting a cat.. FVC Pre 6.28 113% Post 6.22 112% FEV1 Pre 4.38 95% Post 4.
1274661 tn?1301868321 I already take zyrtec and rhinocort for allergies on top of all of the other meds I take for pain and reflux. I am seeing an allergist in August and I am going back to my pcp tomorrow for the millionth time. Any advice?
Avatar f tn I got sick in December and ended up with bronchitis which was treated with steroids and antibiotics. I went through that dose and 2 more after, also was given an inhaler. I dealt with that for months and visited the doctor multiple times until I finally went to a pulmonologist. I had 2 chest x-rays that showed nothing and he couldn't find anything either. They tested my breathing and it was fine, so no asthma our any other obvious causes.
Avatar f tn No other symptoms are apparent when not attempting to sleep. I know this is not a chest cold or bronchitis because I have had both this is not nearly as severe; only severe when I sleep. What can be causing the dripping sensation in the back of my throat and what can be done? Please help as I am desperate for a good nights sleep.
Avatar n tn What had been serious bronchitis abated. I continued to use DuoNeb and Zyrtec. But the real improvement was when a respiratory therapist suggested I take nebulized Mucomyst (acetylcisteine). I have not coughed one single time since I started using it and my FEV1 has improved 20 per cent. Doctors routinely prescribe steroids with little thought to the problems they cause. In my case, in addition to congested lungs, they caused havoc with my adrenal glands.
Avatar f tn have had at the beginning of october alot congestion nose and throat and ear congestion cough and mucus that would not come out the doctor said it was allergies so he told me to take zyrtec and flonose nasal spray and prescribed me amoxicillin 250mg 3 x a day for 15 days and took allegraD and it help a lil only till it wore off so im still not feeling better and am desperate to be better i have a two yr old. .i even tried the nasal irrigation and not better..
Avatar f tn I was told to take zyrtec. Now I have a rash on my upper thighs. Is it the generic zyrtec? Would the regular Zyrtec do the same? Have you ever heard of Diamox being prescribed for Meneire's disease? I find nothing in the literature about it and am hesitant to take it as it makes me very tired. I need to sleep about 3 hours a day when I take it. I don't want to experience vertigo again.
Avatar n tn I'm suffering from the same experience, except I do have allergic asthma. I caught a cold which developed into bronchitis in November and the coughing didn't stop for three months. I think I've had bronchitis maybe once before in my life. After four courses of antibiotics, the sinus inflammation still hasn't subsided. Almost everyone I know this year has caught a cold with cough that lasted a month.
Avatar f tn Sudafed is on my list from my Dr of OK meds. It will help if you are congested. Claritin, zyrtec, or benadryl for runny nose. Tylenol for pain or fever.
689528 tn?1364135841 s control, like this time of year ,he gets a prednisone per day for 3 or 4 days and then every other day for two or until things calm down. Zyrtec can be expensive, but we actually found a generic brand at the dollar store! $1. for 14 pills, so we clear their shelves! Our poor boy suffered until we found this new vet, every other night, we would do oatmeal baths, benedryl cream, benedryl pills, alcohol rubs, ice.. it was heartbreaking. We can totally relate.
Avatar f tn Who gave me antibiotics. It went away for a few days but then came back. My symptoms were running nose, nasal drainage down my throat filling my lungs with gunk, and subsequent cough. After 3 more trips to my family Dr. and three more, and different antibiotics, I demanded something was wrong and I'm not taking any more antibiotics. I went to see an ENT and he said it was my deviated septum causing the problems. So I scheduled an appointment for the surgery.
Avatar n tn I'm a 44-yo female. Still recovering from severe acute bronchitis that lasted 3 months (started mid-October 08), I am now living cat-free and taking all my meds. For eighteen years I lived in the vicinity of an outdoor cat, smoked periodically (last puff 5.5 years ago) and suffered what I considered to be mild asthma. I used albuterol about 1/day (usually just one puff) because of feelings of tightness at the top of my bronchi.
669299 tn?1225592220 I am a retired RN and this copious mucus always happens in the colder months for me and after a sinus infection resulting in bronchitis or pneumonia for me. After resolving the sinus and pneumonia/bronchitis I am left with this constant clear mucus drainage and cough, it changes my voice and my throat and trachea always feel inflamed. What I found relieves me the most is drinking celery juice everyday in the mornings and trying to eat more fruits and veggies.
Avatar n tn He asked me to give him Zyrtec (allergy med.) for two weeks to see if he has allergies. Coby has never been a sick child besides common colds and coughs, etc once in a while. In Oct. 2010 he was hosptialized with pneumonia for 3nights. I am concerned that maybe something is going on from the different medication from them and now, harming his organs? no good bacteria let? These pains sometimes have him teary eyed. He is not a complainer either, that what worries me. What should we be checking?
Avatar n tn m taking Zyrtec daily now because the itching is so severe. The Zyrtec kills the itching for 24 hours. I went to the doctor who said it was tinea versicolor - which I have had since I was a teenager - and I told her that tinea versicolor didn't itch. She, however, says it can. Still, I'm itching everywhere the tinea versicolor is NOT (i.e. ankles, legs, butt, neck, stomach, etc.). She is putting me on Ketoconazole 200mg for 5 days and Ketoconazole shampoo to use on my entire body.
Avatar n tn Should we try the Zyrtec? I am scared that this is only going to get worse and I feel so sorry for her. Whenever her lip swells people talk about her. I had been giving her Benadryl when the lips swell but is that really helping her since it is not truly an allergy? I have a friend that says she has the same thing and she takes Zyrtec and Pepcid at night, she says it is the combination of the 2 drugs, and then when her lip swells she has to take Prednisone.
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/childrens-health/zyrtec-child-allergies#talk-with-your-doctor Flonase is a bit different. I assume you were also buying that over the counter? This too is generally regarded as safe but is recommended to only be used 2 months out of the year unless your doctor has said otherwise. It's a nasal steroid. These have been associated with usually insignificant slowing of growth. https://www.post-gazette.
Avatar n tn My (3rd) family doctor want me to see a pulmonologist but I swear its not my lungs. I have been told, bronchitis, reactive airway disease and asthma but nothing for sure just "possibly". I will give you the run down.. symptoms runny nose, watery/itchy eyes, sore throat, ear pain, horrible pressure on my palette, constant swallowing and a cough that is now considered chronic that is productive of clear phlegm and is formed in tiny balls/maggots?
Avatar n tn Eating raw garlic can help with whatever caused the bronchitis. I had it earlier in pregnancy and feel for you. I ate it in smoothies to help the burn and taste.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response. Are you sure the bronchitis didn't lead to the asthma? If he didn't get the bronchitis, he wouldn't have developed. Asthma.
Avatar f tn I'm 33 weeks and have bronchitis. I'm currently taking amoxicillin but need something for the cough. I checked with my doctor and he said plain robitussin. What has any one else taken or home remedies for It to stop (cough)?
Avatar m tn My bronchitis generally lasts for about 6 weeks...from the first sign of the yellow phlegm until the last cough. I get this every year...every year since I was born. It bites! I have tried antibiotics and coactifed ( cough syrup made of codeine) multiple times...never seems to work...except to constipate me. lol I went to see an herbalist this time. He suggested to use 5 drops of oregano oil three times a day under my tongue. Tastes awful, burns like crazy...hope it works.
Avatar m tn However I have finished my medication and still coughing a lot and had a fever at 37.5 (Which is warm for me, I tend to be 36.7) and today for the first time in a long time I noticed I could not breath, felt like my throat was blocked off. I am constantly coughing and it is driving me insane, I cannot sleep as it wakes me up and my throat is so sore. Does anybody know what my GP should do next? Or what you would personally do?
