Avatar f tn I would ask another doctor. Claratin does nothing for me and I have allergy induced asthma so I can't mess around with my allergies.
Avatar m tn We have seen three different doctors and she is now on Advair, Singulair, and Albuteral. Two of the doctors did say her nose was red and inflamed, so she is also being treated for a sinus infection. I know allergies are horrible right now, but she had no symptoms of allergies prior to this (she is on Zyrtec). My concern is the fact that she will respond well to the medications and then she will have a bad flare up. Her pulse ox is always fine and a chest X-Ray came back normal.
Avatar f tn I usually use advair diskus for my asthma but I no longer have insurance and I can't affor to pay for it? Is there another medication I can use that is not so expensive?
Avatar f tn started getting hives and an increase in my asthma symptoms in sept 2010, no explanation for this that i am aware of, tried benadryl seemed to make it worse, lortadine didnt help either, the itching, burning, stinging was unbearable. started taking zyrtec, seemed to help a little but starts up again so i also started taking zantac along with the zyrtec. i am still getting some hives and itching but now for about the past 3-4 wks now i'm also getting nausea, please help!
216239 tn?1233257361 I have asthma so I have to keep my allergies under control. I take zyrtec everyday, from day 1. My Doctor also says it is O.K.
Avatar f tn Hello, my husband is 45 and in over all good physical and mental health. He developed a cough that won't go away. He feels a tickle in the back of his throat and he has to cough. He coughs constantly. The only time he has relief is when he sleeps at night. He was told he has mild GERD and has tried about 4 acid reflux medicines that don't stop the cough, and he doesn't have any heartburn.. However, his vocal chords are a little inflamed.
Avatar m tn In the past I have taken Zyrtec, Claritin, and Xyzal....Zyrtec seems to work best for me. You can get both Zyrtec and Claritin over the counter, and both come in a generic form (I take the generic form of Zyrtec). This helped my allergies tremendously, I would recommend taking one daily while your symptoms are in full-force, and then backing off to just whenever it's needed when your symptoms settle down.
Avatar f tn hello. i am 36 yrs old, and have suffered from asthma every since about 5 yrs ago. i had pneumonia when my son was born. he now 11 yrs old. and my doc says that the pneumonia left me with asthmatic bronchitis. i usually only have problems when i get sick. As of present i am wheezing and on prednisone. this has been goin on for about 6-8 wks. the wheezing i mean. i am not sick. i don't have a cold or anything, and i just don't understand this.
Avatar f tn Thanks for replying! Yes I think I'll have to, you don't think an extra does of symbicourt is a good idea do you until I ring him? The wheezing stopped again although my chest was still heavy but it's started again this evening. I actually tend to have most problems with my asthma in winter! I don't generally notice it as being worse around this time of year.. I had a Zyrtec tablet for ecg sticker rash in Tuesday and I'm wondering whether this is responsible for a flare up..
Avatar f tn it is a good drug for nasal allergies and also, for a fair number of people, effective treatment for asthma. And it is safe, not a cause of significant liver disease, and not associated with other side effects, deemed serious. To the best of our current knowledge, the long term use of a nasal steroid, as directed, does not pose a problem. However, if your symptoms diminish during certain seasons, you may not and should not take the drug during those times.
Avatar n tn I went and seen a doctor about this and was told I have allergies, I was perscribed the generic for singulair for 10 days, and zyrtec for about 2 weeks to see if I got better. I opted to take the medicine at night (tonight)...and i can't sleep and my throat is so dry even after water. I really dis like medicine...I get anxious...what are some other options to feel better?... HELP!
Avatar n tn I finally got a chest x-ray and the results were slight hyperinflation of the lungs. What can I do for this constant drainage, I take zyrtec daily and it is not really helping me with my allergies anymore.I am 48 and smoked when I was younger but quit 18 years ago.
Avatar m tn 1) I took the timing into account in my reply above. The Western blot is always positive within 2-3 months of a new HIV infection. The window period is no different at different ages. The test result proves your daughter was not infected. 2-4) There are no antibiotics other medicines, or immunizations that have any effect on HIV test timing or reliability, and I already said that none of your daughter's medications have any effect. I haven't changed my mind in the past hour!
Avatar f tn I take Zyrtec it has always been the most effective thing for my horrible allergies and I got the good to go on it from my OB
Avatar m tn Well I hope your feeling better. First off Asthma is just a fancy word for the books. All in all at the end of the day it is just a complex allergy compiled of alot of trigger agents that may or may not be harmfull in your case.
Avatar m tn t know until my cat passed away at age 20, that she was the trigger for my daughters chronic asthma! today my daughter is 16 (the cat died when she was about 13) and she rarely needs her inhaler except for exercise and/or when ill. I'm not sure on the #'s; maybe others can jump on in to help. It takes months for the lungs to get back to normal after an attack. There are many setbacks inbetween good times from what my daughter's have endured. How are you doing?
Avatar f tn What has been your best at home remedy for allergies? We have done local honey and a more natural type called Hylands but I would like to hear other options. My son has severe allergies to pretty much every tree, grass, weed etc which causes his asthma t flair up. He can't use singular, claritin, zyrtec, etc bc the cause his behavior to change in negative way. We have had everything pretty well under control but would like more ideas.
Avatar f tn I really feel for you and your son! I wish you guys all the best during this, the happiest and yet somehow the sickest time of the year. I was diagnosed with asthma at age 9 or so, and it was bad all through my childhood.

Avatar f tn Those issues include depression, increasing fatigue, adult onset asthma, elevated triglycerides (hyperlipidemia) and others. I simply thought my body was aging, especially since I'm menopausal and have not had a monthly cycle in 2 years. Oh, I was diagnosed about 15 years ago with PMDD; always had PMS but it became untenable. I currently do not have the results of my bloodwork.
Avatar m tn ok so here is the story, its early spring, i always get allergies and 2 years i was told i had asthma,so i was put on meds to control it. This year i completely forgot to start my meds, so i had a minor asthma attack. i I went to the doctor. He put me on flovent, my albuterol, also to keep taking my allergy pills, Zyrtec. So i started feeling better.. Im a 28 year old, im working out alot cause i know im a bit overweight. im a runner.
Avatar n tn One day i felt short of breath off and on. I also took a Zyrtec. I almost went to the hospital because i felt bad and felt like my allergies/ sinuses were causing it. I also have anxiety. I see my Doctor next week but my questions are: Could that have been Allergy induced Asthma? Could it start now even though i am 26? And how common is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity? And can Perinnial Rhinitus Allergies get worse with time?
Avatar m tn A few months later, one of the cats started having asthma attacks. We took her to the vet, who diagnosed the asthma and started her on steroids. A few months later, the other cat also started having asthma problems, and also got started on steroids. Over the summer of 2011, I went to Washington for about 3 weeks to do some field work (I am a structural geology grad. student).
Avatar f tn My 3 yo daughter was dx with allergy induced asthma at 6 months old. She used her inhaler and allergy medicine throughout the winter that year. The following summer and the year following she had no asthma symptoms. Last winter she starting having symptoms again which was a usually a cough that led to respiratory infection. If we caught the cough early enough with her inhaler (xopenex) and allergy med (zyrtec) we could avoid the infections. We made it all summer with no problems or use of meds.
