Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec d vs claritin d

zyrtec

7165624 tn?1395647767 I was told by my doctor that you can take just about anything but to stay away from the d. Take Claritin but not Claritin D, etc... Look for that d word on any sinus or allergy meds.
Avatar f tn I am a major allergy sufferer! Clarifying and Zyrtec are safe to take. However! Do not get the ones with the "D" added onto them (claritin d) because that is either not studied enough yet or not recommended. I take claritin as needed. "They" say it might be bad for allergies this spring with the late start. Exercise indoors. Take care and hopeb this is helpful. We are also allowed Benadryl but that you would need to call about. ...
1274661 tn?1301868321 Thanks, Selma. I do take the zyrtec at night, but I guess it is not enough. Last time I was at the doctor he told me to take claritin-D in the morning and zyrtec at night. I really didn't want to try the claritin-D because it is a decongestant and they make me feel crazy and just seem to drain everything into my chest. Maybe I can ask about taking regular claritin in the morning and zyrtec at night. May I ask what you are and were taking?
Avatar f tn Check with the doctor but he will more than likely firmly recommend Claritin and warn against Benadryl. keep us posted.

Avatar n tn I am 20 weeks pregnant and am getting a sinus infection, I know Zyrtec D works but i dont know if im allowed to take it! Will it harm baby if I take Zyrtec D???
Avatar f tn I would call your doctor. I know plain Zyrtec is fine to take, but I'm not clear on Zyrtec-D. I believe the only difference is that it has Pseudoephedrine in it, but I'm not 100% and your doctor would be the safest to ask. You should just be able to call and ask and find out over the phone.
Avatar f tn I have bad allergies which is causing the coughing and they said I can use Claritin, Zyrtec or Allegra. Claritin does absolutely nothing for me, so I asked what about Claritin D and it has been linked to birth defects--- so thats a no... I tried zyrtec and still no relief... my body is intolerant to Allegra... so I just have to suffer until baby is out and I can go back on my allergy shots (which will be after I stop BF'ing)--- the worst part about it...
Avatar f tn Okay. Thank you!
7520331 tn?1395101988 My doctor told me i can take claritin. Not Clsritin D, but the regular claritin.
Avatar f tn It don't sound like you have anything to worry about. You might be nauseated and have a headache from so much sneezing. Take something for the symptom that is the worst and maybe the other problems will be relieved. Maybe lay down and relax. If u end up with cramping or spotting then rush to the doctor. Or if all of these symptoms don't go away or worsen then call a doctor for suggestions or see doctor in the morning.
Avatar n tn The "D" in Claritin-D or Zyrtec-D is pseudoephedrine, which is an ingredient used to make methamphetamine (speed). Manufacturers of street meth were sending hordes of kids into drugstores to buy up these necessary ingredients for their final product. That's why these medications are now locked up behind the pharmacy counter and require a photo ID to purchase them.
Avatar f tn Yes you can take Claritin or Zyrtec and take Tylenol or Advil with it. I wouldn't get the "D" kind just the plain and that should help with your allergies. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn suidfed is okay as well.
Avatar n tn My dr said i could take regular Claritin or Zyrtec. Just make sure it is not the D version.
Avatar f tn I got sick in December and ended up with bronchitis which was treated with steroids and antibiotics. I went through that dose and 2 more after, also was given an inhaler. I dealt with that for months and visited the doctor multiple times until I finally went to a pulmonologist. I had 2 chest x-rays that showed nothing and he couldn't find anything either. They tested my breathing and it was fine, so no asthma our any other obvious causes.
Avatar n tn I asked my pharmacist today because I have the same allergy issues - je said Lortadine OTC is perfectly safe (Claritin) just NO Sudafed or Psuedaphedrine (Claritin D or Allegra D). He also said my Flonase is safe. I take both on bad days, but I also diffuse OnGuard Essential Oil which helps tremendously as well. Hope that helps you!
Avatar n tn Hi, the drugs you have mentioned are Histamine H1 Antagonist, belonging to Second Generation. These are newer anti histaminics which are devoid of sedation. That is the main advantage over the first generation anti histamines. Both are mainly used in treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis and treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria. Headache and drowsiness are side effects seen with loratidine. Whereas headache and vomiting with fexofenadine.
Avatar f tn now I am havin problems clearing my throat all time.pulmonologist suggested Claritin d with my nexium.doesnt seem to be working...any other allergy meds would help....maybe Zyrtec?
1605619 tn?1301631851 I take prilosec every day and my doctor says its fine. I would get off the zyrtec D and start the 24 hour zyrtec liquigels. You only take it once a day. You don't need the decongestant in the zyrtec D. You may be stuffy for a few days until you ween yourself off the decongestant but you will be okay. If you have that much diarrhea try taking some iron pills. I take 324 mg b/c of low iron. It makes you go a couple of times a day and regulates you and your stool.
401095 tn?1351391770 have not tried claritin in a while...got zyrtec-d...tylenol sinus...polyhista.something...allegra-d...mucamist....will try the claritin...yey...maybe I need some expresso....
Avatar f tn Clartin, zyrtec and benadryl are fine. I would also recommend using a neti pot. It takes a couple of tries to get use to but it does help.
Avatar n tn I was also advised to take Zyrtec and wondered if Zyrtec had any more benefit for skin reactions thank Claritin. Claritin didn't help at all. Two dermatologists suggested Zyrtec over Claritin . I hesitate to try the Zyrtec as I took it once a few years ago and promptly feel into a deep sleep. If it is better for the skin than Claritin can it be taken at night and do any good? Your help is greatly appreciated. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
