1646392 tn?1333251893 My ob had already told me phenylephrine was safe. Funny how doctors vary on what they recommend. Mine told me to stay away from psuedoephedrine in the first trimester and stick with phenylephrine. But I've been pregnant enough times and seen enough Ob's to pretty much figure out what I can and can't take. This last pregnancy was my 6th full term so I go more on personal experience than my doc. Definitely talk to your doc though.
213739 tn?1215486009 Zrytec is a "Pregnancy Category B," which is the same as Tylenol. Your doctor approved it, get some relief and take it!
Avatar f tn I use Benadryl (non drowsy) almost every day but when my allergies are out of control I use Zyrtec. If I have congestion, I use Sudaffed.
Avatar f tn Thanx in advance!!! ooh by the way im 11wks 5days...
Avatar n tn One baby aspirin a day is allowed, at least in early pregnancy, to keep the blood from being sticky or something. The best way to tell is to look up any otc drug you want to take or call its 800 number, and to ask about contra-indications during pregnancy. Almost nothing for a cold can be taken, it's a shame when you have a sore throat and are sneezing.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy Category D is a stronger warning than a pregnancy Category C classification. However, a pregnancy Category D medicine may still be given to a pregnant woman if the health care provider believes that the benefits to the woman outweigh the possible risks to the unborn child. Klonopin was given a pregnancy Category D rating due to the problems it caused in animal studies.

Avatar f tn I would call your doctor. I know plain Zyrtec is fine to take, but I'm not clear on Zyrtec-D. I believe the only difference is that it has Pseudoephedrine in it, but I'm not 100% and your doctor would be the safest to ask. You should just be able to call and ask and find out over the phone.
1605619 tn?1301631851 I also take Zyrtec-D twice a day for allergies. Will I have to discontinue these medications during pregnancy? Odds are, I won't need the Questran anyway, due to prenatal vitamins typically causing constipation (which is a blessing for someone like me!) Any input is appreciated!
Avatar f tn suidfed is okay as well.
1339395 tn?1317263821 Found your answers: Zyrtec aka cetirizine risk factor is a B-. why it has this grade. Limited human data-animal data suggest low risk. Meaning they haven't testing in humans, but those animals tested were low risk. You should be okay. Claritin aka Loratadine risk factor B-. Same as above. Both of the grades not only cover pregnancy but lactation as well.
Avatar f tn I pee when i sneeze... I hate it.. Sorry your having sneeze attacks! I hate those.
Avatar f tn I am a major allergy sufferer! Clarifying and Zyrtec are safe to take. However! Do not get the ones with the "D" added onto them (claritin d) because that is either not studied enough yet or not recommended. I take claritin as needed. "They" say it might be bad for allergies this spring with the late start. Exercise indoors. Take care and hopeb this is helpful. We are also allowed Benadryl but that you would need to call about. ...
11803947 tn?1430842645 You might consider switching to allegra or zyrtec. Both are safe during pregnancy. Sleeping with a humidifier and drinking warm tea also helps me.
Avatar m tn Is it safe to take both Allegra-D and Zyrtec. In short, I suffer from allergies. I find that I feel best when I take a single pill of Allegra-D in the morning and a single pill of Zyrtec at night. In part, I have been doing this because I haven't had to go to the doctor (or Canada) to get more Allegra D so I can take it twice a day. I was wondering what the possible side-effects, besides fatigue, are of the regimen I'm taking? I've felt much better since beginning it.

Avatar n tn It's not odd or insensitive, it's common practice. Where I'm from, you don't go to the doctor til your about 8 weeks or so. It's just the way it is in some places.
Avatar n tn t know of any problem with taking Zyrtec-D with Plavix. You can also read your medication leaflets with the medications to check or check with your pharmacist. If you are being treated for high blood pressure or heart disease/vascular problem, I would NOT recommend taking the Zyrtec-D WITHOUT discussing this with your physician.
Avatar n tn You really need to consult your dr or even your pharmacist to get accurate information on what meds are safe for you and your baby ahead of time. Some anxiety meds (i.e. Klonopin and Xanax) are category 'D' - not recommended for pregnant women. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Should pat dry nit completely dry of to keep moisture in. But during my pregnancy I used 100 pure natural African shea butter.
Avatar f tn It's a pregnancy category D, which means there are proven risks to the health of the baby.
