Hi, the drugs you have mentioned are Histamine H1 Antagonist, belonging to Second Generation. These are newer anti histaminics which are devoid of sedation. That is the main advantage over the first generation anti histamines. Both are mainly used in treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis and treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria. Headache and drowsiness are side effects seen with loratidine. Whereas headache and vomiting with fexofenadine.

suidfed is okay as well.

Is it safe to take both Allegra-D and Zyrtec. In short, I suffer from allergies. I find that I feel best when I take a single pill of Allegra-D in the morning and a single pill of Zyrtec at night. In part, I have been doing this because I haven't had to go to the doctor (or Canada) to get more Allegra D so I can take it twice a day. I was wondering what the possible side-effects, besides fatigue, are of the regimen I'm taking? I've felt much better since beginning it.

Zyrtec, Astelin, Flovent discus, among other medicines to no avail. Any suggestions on medicines or potential cures?

could you have bed bugs in your house? other then that - it sounds like an allergic reaction to something...have you started eating anything new? different? any ingrediants changed? How about soaps and detergents? I was highly allergic to my bar soap but, it wouldn't bother me until 3pmm or so when your body temps are at the highest and I'd be all itchy...have you tried Zyrtec? It is now over the counter!!!!! ((just became OTC 2-3 weeks ago!

1) KEEP the dog out of your bedroom. We put a baby gate up in our door way when we got the puppy. I knew I was allergic to dogs and had just been diagnosed with asthma. Keeping the dog away from me was a priority. The dog rarely comes past our daughter's door. He is now 10. 2) Wash your hands well after handling the dog. 3) Vacuum and clean regularly. Bathing the dog often will help keep pollen off of his coat from bothering, but really does little for true dog allergy.

Keep on taking the antihistaminics and apply calamine lotion on the itchy areas.You can also take Claritin or Zyrtec for the itching as they cause less drowsiness than Benadryl.Also apply a mild steroid cream on the itchy rashes and pls don’t scratch them.If the hives don’t go after 6 weeks also,then pls get yourself evaluated as it may be due to autoantibodies. I am 20 weeks pregnant and am getting a sinus infection, I know Zyrtec D works but i dont know if im allowed to take it! Will it harm baby if I take Zyrtec D???

ve also seen a dermatologist and she said finding the root to the problem is difficult therefore nothing can be done but to continuously taking Zyrtec if my body responds to it. Even though I know Zyrtec can temporarily stops the outbreak, I try not to take much as I fear there might be side effects (I heard it can make you infertile if consuming over a long period of time? Not sure if it's true). ...Help!!!!!!!!!...how do I get rid it permanently?

t know of any problem with taking Zyrtec-D with Plavix. You can also read your medication leaflets with the medications to check or check with your pharmacist. If you are being treated for high blood pressure or heart disease/vascular problem, I would NOT recommend taking the Zyrtec-D WITHOUT discussing this with your physician.

It does sound like allergies to me. Try an antihistamine such as Zyrtec, Claritin, Allegra, or Chlor-Trimeton. You can try Benedryl but it tends to cause drowsiness more than the others I mentioned.

I was told by my doctor that you can take just about anything but to stay away from the d. Take Claritin but not Claritin D, etc... Look for that d word on any sinus or allergy meds.

Hello, Antihistamines are pretty benign. I take more than the daily recommended dose per doctor's orders every day. Unless you are taking Zyrtec-D, which it sounds like you know not to do, it won't be a problem. I would go ahead and take a plain Zyrtec. God bless.

I am uncertain what causes the hives I get, it may be from the plants in my garden, cactus etc, but they have been severe this year I thought once fall came it would ease off but it is worse. So which OTC would help me , is Zyrtec worth trying I have tried claritin doesnt do anything ,and do these kick in straight away or take a few days to work,yhe burning and itching I get round my neck ,tops of arms is really painful .

He has been taking Zyrtec (Cetirizine) 5ml twice a day (5ml in the morning and 5ml in the Evening) but still it does not help. Also he takes 10ml of Atarax Syrup at night before going to bed, His itching is so severe and it really bothers him all night; he goes to bed around 4 or 5 in the morning sometimes at 6:00 AM and of course misses school. I just need a Really Good Doctor who can diagnose him correctly. Can I try Benadryl.

Thanks, Selma. I do take the zyrtec at night, but I guess it is not enough. Last time I was at the doctor he told me to take claritin-D in the morning and zyrtec at night. I really didn't want to try the claritin-D because it is a decongestant and they make me feel crazy and just seem to drain everything into my chest. Maybe I can ask about taking regular claritin in the morning and zyrtec at night. May I ask what you are and were taking?

I am a major allergy sufferer! Clarifying and Zyrtec are safe to take. However! Do not get the ones with the "D" added onto them (claritin d) because that is either not studied enough yet or not recommended. I take claritin as needed. "They" say it might be bad for allergies this spring with the late start. Exercise indoors. Take care and hopeb this is helpful. We are also allowed Benadryl but that you would need to call about. ...

I would call your doctor. I know plain Zyrtec is fine to take, but I'm not clear on Zyrtec-D. I believe the only difference is that it has Pseudoephedrine in it, but I'm not 100% and your doctor would be the safest to ask. You should just be able to call and ask and find out over the phone.

I have used patanol in the past but the eye Dr is now recommending patasol which is very expensive. I want to try Zyrtec d instead of Zyrtec which gives me some releif. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

I have also had problems with extreme fatigue and drowsiness. I had started taking benzos last year, and I think a lot of the ongoing residual anxiety was benzo withdrawal. Anyway, I'm doing a lot better with the withdrawal this time around, and I'm down to half a mg of diazepam a day. Still getting anxiety when I first wake up, but it is manageable. However, I am having a enormous flare-up of fatigue. I am sleeping well, but I just cannot seem to wake up properly at all.

My 12 year old daughter was just diagnosed today with this. I read the other posts relating thyroid problems with autoimmune urticaria. Since I have hypothyroidism, I'm guessing that she should be tested for this at her regular doctor's office? Right now all I can afford is the double dose of Zyrtec, but with everything else she's allergic to (7 types of trees, 3 molds, ragweed, cat, feathers,dust mites & roaches of course) the allergy shots would be better for her, right?

Hey everyone, About 2 years ago I was having problems with severe allergies. One night I woke up and the left side of my cheek was swollen. Then it spread to my lips. I went to the doctor and she put me on steroids and benadryl. We determined that it was an allergy to hookah. I took my dosage and quit hookah. 3 days after the steroids had ended I woke up in the middle of the night with the left side of my tongue swollen.

Check with the doctor but he will more than likely firmly recommend Claritin and warn against Benadryl. keep us posted.
