Zyrtec and tinnitus

Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec and tinnitus

zyrtec

I have had your symptoms as well, and I gave up on doctors and am trying to treat myself. (Doing better, thanks) I think I have some permanent damage to at least one blood vessel in my left eye. While I'm on that, I also had a "mattering" problem as well. I think you are right, there could be one cause, why believe a group of people that can't fix the problem, at least that's my philosophy.
My balance is off and sometime's i have lost my balance and have fallen iam 56 year's old I haven't worked since 1991 because of my other problem's Chronic Back pain, neck and shoulder's and i have insuffient venous blood supply to my feet ankles and leg's been trying to get on SSI for many year's.and have been denied, now with Tinnitus ! My Doctor has told me this is not cureable ! and know's nothing that will help me until i see my ENT Doctor ! inbetween i'am going nut's with this 24/7 noise!
They did bloodwork that came back normal. Since that time I have had daily head pressure and tinnitus. The tinnitus comes and goes and can be really loud and annoying. Visited another doctor in Sep who thought it might be an allergic reaction and was given zyrtec for a month. No change with the head pressure. Saw an ENT in Oct who feels that it just a left-over from whatever made me ill in Jun and thinks it will get better with time. Have had this for 5 months.
I have been on Rhinocort, Zyrtec, and Singular. Some of my allergies are being controlled like itchy eyes, congestion, and runny nose but the ear ringing, pain, clogging persists. Since my medicine is addressing some issues but not all should I assume my ear problems are not allergies or is it possible my medicine just isn't covering all symptoms. Should I consider shots as a next step?
I have had a mild headache for 3-4 weeks combined with fullness in both ears but mostly in one ear, occasional vertigo and tinnitus. I had this 5 months ago previously and the doctor said that it was a virus. I don't believe that. She prescribed a nasal spray steroid and antibiotics (zithromax) in case it was bacterial in origin. It took 2 months to go away and now it is back. 14 years ago one ear was attacked by a herpes virus and left me slightly deaf in that ear with tinnitus.
I am seeking a different approach to my symptoms. I visited a nurse practitioner and two different Otolaryngologists; the former prescribed Zyrtec and a Fluticasone nasal inhaler in attempt to decongest my face and head; the latter two performed hearing tests that yield results of good speech discrimination—Tinnitus was their diagnosis and each advised me that little could be done to alleviate my condition.
My doctor put me on a round a antibiotics and didn't help. ENT doctor said it was tinnitus, although I have no hearing loss. A few friends and my father in-law had this exact same thing as well. The ringin in their ears lasted between 2-4 weeks. I've had it for 2 1/2 months. I hope it goes away. I believe it may be allergies that seem to get worse every year. Sometimes (lately) my ears will "pop" and it feels good periodically. So I have some hope it will eventually pass.
There are many causes of the dizziness and tinnitus(ringing ears). Your not alone,I have this daily,I don't have the dizziness of spinning mines more that the ground is moving or I fall to the right side or back wards The ENT should not have dismissed you.He should of done a ENG/VNG to pinpoint the cause of the dizziness. This test will show if its peripheral(inner ear) or central(brain). You can discuss with your GP the med meclizine which will help with the dizziness.
I am hypersensitive and must change my lifestyle too so I don't have to take so much Zyrtec and asthma medication and need to possibly take allergy shots soon, but I went hiking in the fresh air in Georgia yesterday, a contrast to the smoggy humidity of New Orleans where I live in a once mice infested shot gun house and yesterday I felt like 10 years younger.

When the tiny hairs and nerve endings become damaged as a result of exposure to noise, tinnitus often results. Tinnitus that is caused from sinus problems Sinusitis and allergy sufferers also frequently suffer from tinnitus. This "type" is caused from blocked Eustachian tubes, which results in a pressure buildup in the inner ear. This condition is normally caused by prolonged taking of anti-histamines and antibiotics which can cause a thickening of the mucous in the inner ear.
constant and loud tinnitus; fog brain; lightheadedness, dizziness, and swooning; headaches; and an overall pressure or tight feeling in my head. I feel depressed and only want to sit when having these symptoms. I look forward to going to bed at night to escape living with this. Recently, I've begun to get up with a stiff neck. Some days it will wear off and some days it stays with me. I started these symptoms when I was in my mid 40's. It started with dizziness.
The dizziness resembled being carsick, with lightheadedness and occasional moments of nausea and feeling faint (but I never passed out). I had a CAT scan and blood work twice, and so far no diagnosis for the dizziness/fatigue. It got better for a few weeks but last week I began to have dizzy spells again, this time accompanied by maxillary sinus pressure. I had just switched allergy medications, from Nasonex to generic Flonase, right at the time my symptoms returned.
I again started injections and the sinus conditions and tinnitus stopped. Again, I completed all of my allergy injections (about 5 years later), and after about a year, an ear infection set in with the tinnitus. I am trying to convince my allergist that it is all tied into each other. Is anyone suffering from sinus problems and tinnitus?
Alas, this has not helped with the fullness in the ears or the tinnitus, and it's been a year and half since surgery.
1) clogged ears - I blow them out every so often during the day 2) Very loud tinnitus 3) Stuffy nose - constantly blowing out mucous 4) irregular bowel movements - not loose - just not healthy and not regular 5) canker sore on lip 6) irregular skin patch on inside of left cheek - this is new I will get healthy for a few weeks - with limited tinnitus and then the pollen and molds kick up and I am back to this state. I just need some relief to feel good.
I started off just at the end of a tiring day, now it is constant. My GP put me on meclizine and Zyrtec D, it seemed to help for a few days, now it is worse. I get this spinning feeling when I move my eyes even with my head still, I even get this feeling with my eyes closed, when I shift my eyes, it doesn't matter whether I'm lying down or standing, moving or not, it doesn't change if I quickly stand up from lying.
I am ok driving on normal, inner city roads, its just on the major roads i seem to get this. I have had tinnitus for 6 months, and only just seen the dr about it who has booked me some hearing tests. Ive also been getting slight twitching above my right temple, the same side where i have the tinnitus. Im not experiencing headaches, but feeling some kind of pressure there. I'm worried it could be something really bad and thinking i should go back to the drs? I get so panicky about driving now.
I was disgnosed last year, take zyrtec daily and nasonex, no help so far. Last night I was breathing through my mouth so much that my tongue swelled up a bit and was painful to get back into my mouth. I cant stand it.. the headches, the sneezing the runny nose, congestion itchy eyes red and swollen. Sometimes it is painful to even sneeze. I cant stand it/ I am sorry to see so many people in this same misery.
I am not currently on antibiotics but I am on steroid nose sprays, zyrtec and singulair and nothing seems to help. The ringing, clogged ears and stuffy nose are killing me. Is this primary HIV or do I just need to get a better control on my allergy issues?

I have tried turning off all power and other devices and it still pulses. What else could be the cause? This is new and has never happened before this.
I've practiced yoga for a long time. I developed TMJ 3 years ago, and then developed neck pain and tinnitus in my right ear. So I visited a chiropractor, who did a C3 and C4 adjustment. 24 hours later I developed an inner vibrating, mostly upper body tremor. It worsens when I practice yoga, and my arms weaken more quickly. I've noticed shaking hands when I apply makeup. It's been going on for 2 months. I recently had an MRI, which shows bulging discs on C3-C7. How is your condition now?
He will go exactly 3 days in severe pain in his head even with nausea and vomiting, nasal drippings, and tinnitus. The doctors have put him on every migraine medicine they can think of. He is at his wits end about it. He had this headache all weekend from Friday through Sunday. Got up feeling ok this morning, but just weak from the sickness. I will have to tell him about some of those test.
htm Other causes could also be “Cogan's syndrome (inflammation of connective tissue in the cornea; results in vertigo, ringing in the ears [tinnitus], and loss of hearing) and Ménière disease (fluctuating pressure of inner ear fluid [endolymph]; results in severe vertigo, ringing in the ears [tinnitus], and progressive hearing loss).” Based entirely on your symptoms, age group and history, Cogan's syndrome can be thought of.
Sudaphed(the real kind), Omnaris, Prednisone 10mg, Zyrtec, and Afrin for 3 days. The ear has continued to worsen. I have seen an ENT and he says he sees nothing with the ear and I am at a loss. What do I do? Is this allergies?
I have been to about 30 doctors- including ENT's allergists, neurologists, chiropracters, opthamologists. psychologists, dentists and everything else u can think of. All CT scans, MRI of brain and blood work keep coming back clean and ok. Nothing I try seems to work. There was a period of time about 3 and a half years ago that the symptoms lifted for about 4 months and then it returned full force.
Imbalance/lightheadedness, feeling spacey, cars on highway in slow motion. Lasted 4 + hours. Drained afterwards and very quiet. Tinnitus- September on. Bilateral; more prominent in R ear. August – November: Clonus bilaterally, more severe in R foot. Occurs on intermittent basis; clinically observed during neurological exam. September- November: disequilibrium imbalance/ lightheadedness, feeling spacey begins occurring on a regular basis, impacting ability to drive.
Have you ever just taken Sudafed (the red tablets), its a decongestant and a Zyrtec at night. The Zyrtec is helpful because it will dry the sinuses, as we know the sinuses can effect the ears & the Sudafed will open things up (just like the steroids would, but the steroids are better for a short duration). I have a friend who has severe tinnitus and this seems to help him. He blames it on years of loud rock music & drag racing...LOL!
