Avatar f tn Hello, Your symptoms are suggestive of pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP). It is characterized by small red bumps and hives, and when severe, the bumps form large patches. This rash usually develops on the abdomen, and spreads to the thighs, buttocks, breasts and arms. Anti-itching topical medications, antihistamines and topical corticosteroids can be used to control the itching.
1472764 tn?1287588186 My OB said I can take Benedryl, Claritin or Zyrtec (I am allergic to Claritin and Zyrtec gives me headaches so am taking Benedryl). Allegedly, Chlor-trimeton is safe until the 3rd trimester (that is what I usually take) but I decided it is better safe and sleepy with Benedryl :) My nurses' drug book lists them all as Pregnancy Category B, the same as Tylenol.
1646392 tn?1333251893 I am 14.5 weeks pregnant. I have had problems with congestion since 8 weeks. Since about 11 weeks, it has been unmanageable. I have done sinus rinses, nose strips, sudafed, benedryl at night, vicks rub, and zyrtec. I can get about two hours of sleep at night before I wake up with my nose running and nose clogged. My husband has started sleeping the guest room because I keep him up at night. I tend to go through a roll of toilet paper blowing my nose in two to three nights.
213739 tn?1215486009 Zrytec is a "Pregnancy Category B," which is the same as Tylenol. Your doctor approved it, get some relief and take it!
Avatar f tn Zyrtec is the safest and one of the most effective allergy meds - deals with more allergens than claritin I use the zyrtec eye drops (i've only had itchy eyes lately) and Sinus Rinse - clears and prevents congestion. It took me a long time to get over the idea of squirting water up my nose, but it is totally worth it.

Avatar f tn There are some rashes associated with pregnancy like Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP), Prurigo of pregnancy, Pruritic folliculitis of pregnancy, and Pemphigoid gestationis. PUPPP is the most common, however it is seen more on stretch marks and during the third trimester. If you have gained a lot of weight during your pregnancy then this is a possibility.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy Category D is a stronger warning than a pregnancy Category C classification. However, a pregnancy Category D medicine may still be given to a pregnant woman if the health care provider believes that the benefits to the woman outweigh the possible risks to the unborn child. Klonopin was given a pregnancy Category D rating due to the problems it caused in animal studies.
Avatar n tn At your next appointment they will give u a pregnancy test to confirm your pregnancy and usually the test they use are the same ones u get at your local dollar store ...they prescribe prenatals and give u an ultrasound to confirm about how far along u really are and that's pretty much it then they give u your next prenatal appointment which will be scheduled about 3 weeks from that visit...
Avatar n tn I've always had it and I take zyrtec because creams don't work for me. Even though you're pregnant you are allowed to take the normal dose of zyrtec so if creams don't work try that!

Avatar n tn It sounds like your stress and anxiety is probably a mixture of hormones and just the whole experience of pregnancy and anxiety that comes with it. Please stay away from medication until you have your baby. And remember anything you have in your body, will transmit through breast milk. If you have post pardum depression, then definitely take medication (and therapy) if you need it.
5028514 tn?1366828456 Benadryl is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take Benadryl without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant. Infants are especially sensitive to the effects of antihistamines, and side effects could occur in a breast-feeding baby. 1144050 tn?1261292610 Ask your doctor for sure. I just did a search on it and turns out someone had a similar question on this site in 2007: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/Can-Oxycodone-be-taken-during-pregnancy/show/52784 and this was one of the responses: Actually, it's a category C, not B. It is unknown if it is safe or not.

Avatar n tn You really need to consult your dr or even your pharmacist to get accurate information on what meds are safe for you and your baby ahead of time. Some anxiety meds (i.e. Klonopin and Xanax) are category 'D' - not recommended for pregnant women. Good luck!

849762 tn?1288184748 The temps will generally stay in the higher post-o category throughout pregnancy. Other than a few random highs and lows, I don't think it will start to drop at any certain time.
