Zyrtec and mucinex together

Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec and mucinex together

zyrtec

Avatar m tn I called and asked and she just said to also take phenlyeprine (sudaphed PE) and guaifenesin (Mucinex). These help quite a bit, but they make me jittery and queasy, I have to pee really often, and I'm still sleepy from the other stuff, and I still have some congestion and sore throat. So what do I do now? Did I just get really horrible genetics and there's nothing I can do?
Avatar f tn Sometimes I use plain Sudafed(no antihistimine in it) and plain Mucinex together when I am out of Mucinex D. Every time it takes 2-2 1/2 weeks to recover, but I am able to recover with no dr. visits. I have done this for a year now with good results. Now that I am well again, I am back on my zyrtec and regular medicine regiment.
Avatar f tn I was taking plain mucinex for days without much help. And Tylenol. I finally called Ob and they said stay away from mucinex and take plain robitussin (which didn't make much sense to me..its the same active ingredientc(guaf).. But I followed orders) and sudafed(also plain - ewithout psuedo). Another week went by, only got worse. Finally got a z pack and cough syrup prescribed. Another week and I was better. 3 weeks sick altogether. Used humidifier at night and Vicks too. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Claritin is helping a lot with the post nasal drip, but now the junk in my chest seems tight and I have a dry, unproductive cough. Should I try mucinex to loosen up the chest and continue with Claritin?
Avatar f tn sudafed robitussin dm tylenol cold, mucinex zicam zyrtec all can be takin for cough cold/ allergies all this were approved by my Doctor
711326 tn?1297868510 They have me on mobic, zyrtec, zantex and ultrium for pain. Embarassed to say but lately it seem like I am dried up and not able to produce any CM even when it comes to BD'ing. I've read great reviews on it but wonder if anyone has tried it here and had any luck.
Avatar f tn I am almost ten weeks and sick. I have a headache sinus drainage and a really bad cough. What is safe to take?
Avatar n tn ve taken antihistamines such as Claritin and Zyrtec as well as decongestants like Mucinex. If those did not help, you should consider allergy testing to see what you are allergic to. If severe enough, your allergist can start you on allergy shots.
Avatar f tn t help, I talked to the doctor, they told me to take mucinex and sudafed. Took those and still stuffed. Took antibiotics thinking it was an infection and I received no results. I am 5 weeks pregnant since yesterday and wondering if it has anything to do with the pregnancy. Has anyone experienced this, if so, what did you do that helped?
7998970 tn?1435183202 ) hope this helps
Avatar f tn it happened to me @12 wks and had to be in antibiotics...I took the mucinex at 18 wks and gargled salt and warm water for the throat. ...
Avatar m tn I experienced congestion, cough, and laryngitis a day or two after exposure to large amounts of hay and agricultural lime. Taking this into consideration, I'm a bit skeptical as to whether or not it was a cold or just an alergic reaction. The symptoms have drastically decreased. My nose is still half-way stuffy, and I'm still spitting up white phlegm, but it's more of an annoyance now than anything else. Some people I've talked to think that it's post-nasal drip.
Avatar f tn My docs list says one benadryl a day is safe.. also you can take sudafed, zyrtec or claratin also. If you get a lot of mucus you are allowed to take the plain mucinex. I've personally used mucinex and zyrtec. Also, only regular tylenol is safe. I hope you feel better!
725941 tn?1297882209 I started this cycle on clomid and mucinex, like robitussin, it helps thin ur cm so it's easier to conceive, still waiting for AF so not sure if it worked this cycle or not...but I've heard lots of women using them together since fertility drugs sometimes make ur cm more thick and harder for sperm to swim thru...
1524212 tn?1291837200 It causes my palpations to get worse. I usually just suffer through with mucinex and use a vaporizer at night.
Avatar f tn Mucinex, Sudafed, claritin, benedryl and zyrtec are the allergy and cold medicines my Dr has listed on the paperwork he gave me about medication that is safe to take while pregnant.
Avatar m tn You may be able to use a once a day antihistamine like claritin or zyrtec which have fewer systemic side effects. Also guifenasin (robitussin or mucinex)which loosens the secrections in throat and chest can be helpful with colds without affecting dry eyes so much. Just some general comments - discuss situation with your doctor to see of claritin and mucinex might be something that you could possibly take without affecting dry eyes too much.
1663704 tn?1302912377 I have had fluid behind my eardrum since September 2010. My physician looked and saw fluid behind my eardrum and said it's caused from allergies or sinuses. I do have allergies and postnasal drainage. I was prescribed Flonase for 30 days, which didn't work, then prescribed a 7 day steroid medication, this didn't help either. I have tried Allegra D, Mucinex D, Mucinex, Sudafed, Sudafed PE, Afrin, etc. I am currently trying Zyrtec.
Avatar m tn Been treated for sinus infection with antibiotics, Nasonex, sinus rinses, Zyrtec, store brand mucinex. Run humidifier at night and gargle with salt water. Desperate!
Avatar f tn He gave me 875mg of Amoxicillin-twice a day for 10 days along with ZyrtecD and Mucinex. I finished the antibiotic and one of the others at the same time. Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin. I have been taking the Mucinex and Claritin for a week now and still can't get rid of the post nasal drip.
Avatar m tn In the first place Zyrtec tends to make you drowsy and Allegra tends to perk you up. It would be pretty weird to take them together. I take Zyrtec daily and when my allergies act up I take a single dose of Benadryl which is short-acting. that works well for me.
Avatar m tn t know right now I take both zyrtec and singulair in the evening. I think I will also try the Mucinex to see if that helps. I do get some relief from taking Tussionex cough syrup. Kind of strange but opiates tend to thin the mucus production and it seems to numb my throat where I don't feel the PND or whatever it might be.
Avatar m tn Both Allegra and Zyrtec are 24 hour medications in my area. I have known several people who took 3 Zyrtec in one day, and my allergist says that you can't really OD on antihistimines. You should be sure to drink PLENTY of water and watch for signs of constipation and dehydration. You should make sure that your dr is well aware of how much of these meds you are taking to make sure that they are ok with any other medications you maybe taking.
Avatar f tn My husband has terrible allergies. He always seems to have a cold, even though he says it's just allergies. These white spots always appear on his throat followed by a terrible cough that lasts forever. He's been tested for Strep, and it's always hegative. When we moved in together, I really noticed how sick he was ALL the time - I mean really sick. He takes Zyrtec every other day to prevent hives and rashes on his skin, but it's like he ALWAYS has a cold.
Avatar m tn m allergic to Allegra-D, and Zyrtec makes me feel like a zombie. Hot water with lemon seems to help my throat, but it seems the condition just doesn't want to go away, no matter what I do. Is there any medication that actually works reducing swelling, inflammation, etc..... All suggestions/experience appreciated. Oh and allergist told me to take aspirin when my throat swells, but aspirin doesn't help either.
Avatar n tn I have had post nasal drip as long as I can remember. I am a 52 yr old mail, 5'9", 195lbs. My PND gummed up the back of my throat enough in July of this year to wake me everytime I nod off. I am now on sleep medication, clonazepam, Lunesta, now but which is barely working, Atavan is better and I can sleep but sedatives cannot be taken forever and this PND doesn't seem to be going away.
