Zyrtec and itching

Common Questions and Answers about Zyrtec and itching

zyrtec

Hello and hope you are doing well. Zyrtec can cause side effects like skin nodules, rash, pruritis (itching), acne, urticaria, photosensitivity reactions and eczema. So, the itchy red cheeks could be due to Zyrtec. Discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Two years ago, my doctor told me to take Zyrtec. It worked within minutes! I took it regularly and when I ran out of pills I then went without for a few days. I had noticed a very odd reaction from not having it in my system. A horrible isolated itch with raised areas, swelling, and burning. I never had an itching like this before. It was as if the Zyrtec isolated the allergen and made it dormant within my body, until the medicine was out of my system.
I took one benedryl each day for about 5 days and the itching is gone and no more Zyrtec. However, the problem is runny nose and other allergies symptoms. Not sure what to do? I am definitely a nicer person when I take Zyrtec.
hands swelling, Hives and itching i consult doctor that time he prescribed me Zyrtec but every week this happens than my doctor use an allergy kit 5 or 6 injection course of 3 to 6 month i don't remember exactly name after that swelling not comes but whole body itching for relief i use Zyrtec but from some time when i take Zyrtec my mouth dry i think side effect of Zyrtec but for relief i have no other option.
Your physician may be able to determine the cause of the itching and prescribe appropriate therapy.
I have been on claritin, clarinex, zyrtec and xyzal. I am continuing with zyrtec now becaue of the cost of xyzal ($200/3mo) due to my healthcare selectively removing antihistamines from the formulary. Xyzal was definitely better for me than any of the others, and I have something more than the standard statement to go with that. Last week I had an allergy test done. RAST/Interdermal type.
It started with my hands and feet and then moved to the rest of my body. I took some zyrtec and it gets better but comes back. Now it is mainly my scalp and head/face. Just to say: I HAVE NEVER HAD ALLERGIES OR REACTIONS. I am 31 and have never had to take allergy meds. So..........I do not see this being the issue. I cannot understand where this is coming from. Even with my thyroid I never have had dry skin or itching. This is totally new. Any ideas? I am so itchy!
Also, while I was on vacation I started itching in different areas and I came back 3 days ago and still itching. Bought benadryl itch stopping cream (histamine blocking itch relief) but that doesn't seem to help. Is there anything you would suggest using to stop itching and get rid of the red irritations due to itching that look like mosquitoes bites? I have quite a few of them - on arms and legs primarily. Do you know what that might have caused it?
for the past two weeks, my arms, stomach, thighs and legs have been itching like crazy. I used axe body wash and was wondering if its the chemicals in that , if its causing the itching. or could it be laundry soap?
It is similar to Zyrtec which did absolutely nothing for me. It was like taking a sugar pill. The itching and/or rash that we have is a drug reaction. We are still on the drugs (for as long as we have to treat). We do not have a bug bite or a contact allergy or poison ivy. We are reacting to the drugs that we have to keep taking. Therefore, we need a strong enough antihistamine and we need it often enough to keep the itching controlled and/or the rash from recurring.
Urticaria.Try cyproheptaidine 1 tab at bed time. You will feel sedated and hungry but the itch and rash will disappear in a week.
It was itching madness for me on treatment.Use olive oil and ointments that relieve itching,in my case it helped me a lot.
It includes a variety of persistent skin conditions which cause dryness, redness, skin swelling, itching or bleeding. It usually affects the face, chest and skin creases. Eczema diagnosis is generally based on the clinical appearance and a few tests like the patch test and blood levels of IgE antibodies and eosinophils and a specific test for eczema is called the Radioallergosorbent Test (RAST). Skin rashes are diagnosed clinically based on the history and appearance of the rash.
i had and still have itching. my DR prescribed Clobetasol ointment. i use it as when the itch starts; usually on my arms or legs. it helps a lot. i think it is from bile salts being carried to the skin...not too sure on the "how it happens", but that's what i came across when i googled it...i also have allergies and i take antihistamines too. with me, it's like someone is taking a needle and poking me a thousand times...it sux....
Skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, brachiradial neuralgia(itching on upper torso and arma),hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods can cause itchy skin. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used.
I picked up itching at week 7 and rash at 8; I am in week 9 now and managing; rash is down and still itch. Went to NP today and agree it is incivek rash and won't go away until I stop taking them. So I have to get through 3 more weeks. Atarax works for the itching and is supposed to make you sleepy, but does not for me. Fluocinonide works for the rash. Gold Bond cream worked better than aveno, but still use aveno soap. Keep it cool as you can. Hope it goes away or becomes more manageable.
Methimizole does seem to amplify this problem. I take over the counter Zyrtec every day and that keeps the itching away.. as long as I am careful with the caffeine. Hope that Helps!
Well I tapered myself off of the steroids because they weren't doing anything but making me eat alot, but if I go two days without the Zyrtec the itching and swelling and bumps start all over again. I have also been given atarax for itching which is also effective, however both the Zyrtec and the Atarax make my drowsy. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a name for this condition? I also moved into a new house that same year and it has carpet.

itching and MS by dmcart, 18 hours ago Tags: Itching I have just been reading all the comments about itching and MS ( I was diagnosed in 2004) Had no idea that itching was a problem with MS. I have been itching intensly for about 5 days. But my itching is NOT localized as most of the comments suggest, but it is all over. Have also had raised red spots, but not until I start scratching. Like the scratching produces the red spots (what I think of as hives) Have been to the dr. twice.
The Zyrtec is not working and I need a solution to my problem because I can't even hold a job during the winter because of the itching problem. I haven't worked all winter and now its spring and the itching still isn't gone. I am 6'1" 185 pound black male. If someone has any kind of solutions that would be helpful to me I would be most grateful.
If you find that your husband has hives you might try accupuncture. I know it sounds crazy but I suffered for two years before someone told me. I was so desperate I would have tried anything. After the third visit I rarely get hives. I just went two months without any at all. After having 500 of them all over me all the time.
and being a diabetic can cause itch too.... Have you asked your doctor about taking zyrtec?
My doctor said it was fine to take Zyrtec as it has antihistamines in it and should help with the itch! Don't scratch!!
It started with my lower legs. When I would shave and the hair would start growing back my legs itched terribly. I saw a dermatologist and decided to have laser hair removal to solve the problem. It helped a little but now it has spread. periodically I get hives(?) on different parts of my body. Now it is every day. If I don't take a zyrtec EVERY day I can't get through the day without going crazy with the hives.
I have had chronic itching in my feet (starts in the heels and moves forward along sides and bottoms of feet). This has been going on for many years, comes and goes, and it seems to occur when I am in bed and when my feet get hot. It has driven me crazy. I have seen a dermotologist who told me it was probably some nerve issue as there is no rash or fungus, etc. Lately I have started having itching in other parts of my body. Last night I slept horribly because I itched from head to toe.
I am 25 years single male and I never had any skin problem until last month...It just started itching all over my body and I smoothly itch and itch and can't stop myself from itching.....I started to take Zyrtec for few days according to doctor's guidance.....It does not itch that night and until next day.....When I stopped medicine after 3 weeks, it started all again...uuuhhhh.....I went to doctor again...this time i had my blood test and it came back all normal....so confused whats going on..
First of all take anti allergy medicines like Benadryl or Zyrtec. Otherwise In such type of itching, cooling lotions like those containing camphor or menthol, capsacain or local anesthetic creams, amitriptyline and gabapentin tablets and electrical cutaneous nerve field stimulation prove effective. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.

It feels like crawly worms. I've been to a dermatologist and tried all kinds of creams but the itching continues. Sometimes it is unbearble. It is often triggered in any condition, during the day or night. As a result pimple like bumps appear and my face looks less than attractive as it used to be.
