Zyprexa withdrawal insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa withdrawal insomnia

zyprexa

8798274 tn?1399988458 There are a lot of people with chronic insomnia and the common factor is Zyprexa withdrawal. Must be an explanation for that. I am thinking to report my case to FDA. Maybe they can open a research and find the cure.
Avatar m tn It is probably not a good idea to use Zyprexa (which is an antipsychotic) as a sleep aid. Zyprexa can cause both sedation and insomnia. The dose you took is relatively small, but it can still cause side-effects and withdrawal effects. Did your doctor prescribe this to you? If you are having trouble sleeping, there are many other techniques and medications that can be used.
Avatar m tn and a lot of information states that zyprexa withdrawal can cause insomnia. However, is this the same as not feeling sleepy? Its been a month and I haven't been tired and whats even wierder is that i wasn't tired when i got back on the zyprexa after stopping it for 4 days. I am wondering if i am ever going to be sleepy tired again. Its been a month now. I called my psychiatrist office yesterday and he wanted to try using lunesta, ambien, and a tryclic antidepressant to put me to sleep.
Avatar f tn The insomnia if it is a short term withdrawal symptom should pass in time and if the apathy has the same cause it should as well. Withdrawal symptoms (I have experienced them myself when changing medications too abruptly which is something I don't do anymore) will go away in time but you could discuss this with your psychiatrist for a full answer.
Avatar f tn Interesting. My neighbor takes Zyprexa, and another anti-anxiety, along with an antidepressant and several other meds for body health problems. It seems to me ,as I visit with her most afternoons, that Z, which she has been on since being released from a hospital years ago, is probably the most helpful with sleep. She will be taking it for the rest of her life. Only alternative to being put in facility. Guess what you are experiencing is body getting used to you not taking.
Avatar n tn I am so sorry that a Dr. would prescribe this class of drug for insomnia. Were you diagnosed as psychotic, bipolar, or something else? This class of drugs are called antipsychotics. When we need quality sleep, there are plenty of sleep aids available that are quite effective - Ambien, Sonata, etc., to name a few. Who is rx'ing this drug to you? If you want to get off of this, I suggest you find another physician, hopefully a well qualified psychiatrist, who will help you in the withdrawal.
603015 tn?1329862973 Insomnia is a withdrawal symptom of this medication. It would probably be best to get an appointment with your pdoc sooner; not sleeping is a major trigger for BP relapse. In fact, all of the withdrawal issues from any medications can kick the mood swings back in.
Avatar f tn A few years back when I had chronic insomnia and got very anxious and depressed due to the sleep loss, a psychiatrist prescribed me Remeron and Zyprexa. Zyprexa to get the sleep going until Remeron kicks in. I fortunately saw my doctor who got very angry with the psychiatrist for giving me Zyprexa as I was not psychotic and secondly there are very bad side effects from it.
Avatar m tn I have had four months of nausea and dizziness because my dr. took me off Zyprexa and put me on another med. I thought my symptoms were from withdrawal but he said that I shouldn't experience withdrawal from Zyprexa, especially since the new drug, Seroquel, was in the same class. So I was told I had an inner ear problem for the last four months and have been suffering through these symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am experiencing burning feet, skin sensitivity and pains in my hands and feet during Zyprexa withdrawal,I`ve been on Zyprexa for 6 years and off it for about 5 months now. Please let me know if the burning feet and all other symptoms will go away with time? 1848481 tn?1319676852 Some medications did cause me to have insomnia although this is far less common with Zyprexa. Sometimes I found that some medications when they were started or raised would give me a temporary feeling of euphoria which would then go back to stability. I did speak to my psychiatrist and he said this can happen.
Avatar f tn did zypreza cause my insomnia ? it all started around janurary 22 2008 i was having some bad times me and my boyfriend broke up after 8 years and someone sent a message to my myspace display page saying that i was being tested on the new LSD yeah i know any way before i saw that message i was very depress and sad and was getting sleep but waking up on and off in the middle of the night. before that i was able to sleep 6 hours without waking up.
Avatar m tn Can anyone give me some info. on zyprexa? Has anyone been given this to help stabalize their mood, during withdrawal? If so, please share with me if you benefited from this, and is this addictive as well?
1623698 tn?1299161234 Within days I was extremely dizzy and nauseous and I concluded that it was withdrawal from Zyprexa so the Psychiatrist said to go back on it. Two months later, when I was feeling better, we tried it again but the same thing happened. By this time I was being told that I had an inner ear problem or it was caused by the new med. I was then given Saphris and continued to be dizzy and nauseous. After two weeks of that I was taken off that class of drugs and given Remeron.
Avatar f tn See my post entitled "zyprexa withdrawal or sleep disorder" (still dealing with it, right now i am suffering from severe sleep deprivation and some really wierd symptoms like confusion, memory loss, severe inattention, etc.....look up zyprexa side effects and withdrawal, it can do some really messed up stuff to you. But on the other hand, not everyone reacts that way.
Avatar n tn My son is experiencing 7.5 mg zyprexa withdrawel I believe. He has been in bed on and off for 4 days with headache and very sick to stomach. How long with this go on????? What can help the stomach???? He has only been on this med for 3 months. I would hate to see what someone on this for years would go through!
Avatar n tn i was put on the medication zyprexa, are there any symptoms such as diahrea that can occur from taking the medication for about 3 months and then discontinuing the medication?
Avatar m tn these are the medications that i take now.....150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
Avatar n tn Well I can say for myself that I'd be concerned taking more than one anti-psychotic at a time. That's how I developed severe tardive dyskinesia to begin with which the rate of developing it as my psychopharmocologist stated "with typicals 5% per person per year and atypical antipsychotics 2.5% per person per year". Every antipsychotic you are one are atypical antipsychotics but I would see no reason you should be on more than one.
5093508 tn?1390543931 It is possible that she feels that when taken, Zyprexa will dull the anxiety enough to help with the Valium withdrawal but here in the US, this is not a typical benzo taper. Why not ask her outright why she is prescribing this drug? Express your concerns and the contra-indications (heart health, stroke, renal health, diabetes, etc.) & see what her reasoning is? Also, is she tapering you off both Zoplicone and Valium at once? Some Drs. would want to do one at a time.
