everyone who goes thru the system with delusions of grandeur are treated with the same meds...Haldol...it scares me...but this is what they prescribed...these are the steps that they take to stabilize people....The Psych RN is coming over on Friday, at which time I will talk with her about alternative meds...Thanks for the heads up...

Actually Zyprexa is now available as a generic. If a person has an issue with the cost of the medication it would make sense for them to ask their psychiatrist for the generic form as its basically the same medication but not being the brand form would be far less expensive (the generic would be called olanzapine).

I've been dealing with bipolar disorder since 2012 and I've gone through 4 hospitalizations due to the manic/psychotic breaks. I'm sorry, but you absolutely have to be out of your mind to play doctor on your friend with Haldol. The fact that she's on Zyprexa shows that she's been diagnosed as having schizophrenia. That's a diagnosis left to a psychiatrist, not "friends". You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped. Dosing her with Haldol will only lead you to jail. Hello! I receive a 100 mg injection of haldol decanoate on July 27th and I've been dealing with an uncomfortable side effect for the past two months. I get this staring problem where I fixate on small details around me and I can't look away. Like I'll stare at the taillights of the car in front of me or the specks of herbs in my food. And when I try to close my eyes, my eyelids flutter rapidly and I see flashes. And my eyelashes scratch my eyeballs.

t know her prior condition and I do not know if she woke up like this before the haldol, or if the haldol is having an accute effect on her. Anyone know about Haldol for sedation for MRI in stroke patients? How long it can last?

5 mg twice a day, Trazodone 50 mg and Doxepin 50 mg for my anxiety and depression symptoms, can you please tell me if these are all okay to take together and am I suppose to take these with food or milk? Is Haldol a dangerous drug combined with the other two medications?

The psychiatrist that treated Todd in the hospital prescribed him Haldol, Lithium and Trazodone upon release. I am really concerned about this combo of meds, as Todd is acting very odd. Seems overly medicated to me. He is scooting his feet, rather than picking them up while walking. I call it the hospital shuffle, as I have seen people in hospitals do this when overly medicated. He just sits and says very little. Almost like in a trance.

Risperal is know for breasts growing, and I even started to lactate. Yikes. That was a deal breaker. I think (not 100% sure) all of the antipsychotics can do that but risperadol is the worst by far and away. So that is why he probably went with an older med. I have never heard of anyone having breast issues with Haldol so I think that side effect is a lot rarer. Mind you Haldol isn't used that much and usually not used long term anymore so that could be why I haven't encountered it.

Was it Haldol? Haldol is an anti-psychotic and Reglan (an anti-nausea) is also in the anti-psychotic family. I was given Reglan a long time ago because I had a CSF leak from a LP, I was in severe pain and the Reglan made me FREAK out! I have heard of some ER docs giving IV Haldol for HA, although it does cause some pretty bad adverse side effects! UGH, I can sympathize with you.. After they gave me that Reglan, it felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I was anxious times a million.

Diazphane is a benso My NP give it to me to help with the w/d the first week..Looks like that they also found Klonopin ( a heavy duty Benzo) Yikes!!

I have been on BP meds for several years. About a year ago I was diagnosed as diabetic. I've heard that the zyprexa and others like it can cause high blood sugar. Diabetes also runs on both sides of my family. Are there any mood stabilizers out there that don't cause Diabetes? I like the Zyprexa because it works really well for me. I guess I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there like me?

Now, I'm on zyprexa 5mg then increase to 10 mg. Zyprexa instead of Syroquil. Also, monitoring my WBCs to avoid it's down again. The goal is to prevent high mood first then manage and control low mood. My mood include high, low, and mixed moods. Thank you for your time, answer, and help.

Depakote made feel like a zombie. I hated it. I am soooo stable and normal with the zyprexa. I dont have any bad side effects and even my sex life is great. For me the zyprexa is so much better. I think depakote andlithium should be take off the market.But again thait is my opinion. There are much better meds out there than those two.
