zyprexa

Avatar n tn I got diagnosed Bipolar 1 four years ago, I'm currently twenty two. I currently take 30 mg. of zyprexa,. 1500 mg. depakote, 2 mg. benztropine, 50 mg. of risperdone, and 50 mg. testim . I have gained 70 pounds of fat. When I'm not in a mania I sleep from the zyprexa for 12 hours a night. My anxiety is so high and from all of the side affects, just to name a few I have had diarrhea for the last three years, retrograde ejaculation, weight gain, restless legs syndrome.
Avatar f tn I have been to see pdoc today after having a bit of a wobble following 2 months off medication (did not go cold turkey, did it over 3 months). She has prescribed me Zyprexa but I am really scared about taking it, I really don't want to gain weight - I am still trying to lose the weight I gained on Depakote.
Avatar f tn Well done on the weight-loss. I gained 32lb on sertraline (zoloft) and havent managed to shift much at all.
Avatar m tn I have been on Prozac for the past 12 years. On Zyprexa I began to experience Edema and weight gain, which was not great considering I have battled an eating disorder for the past 18 years. I called my doctor and he told me to just stop taking the zyprexa and the edema would go away. I asked him if I should wean down and he said no that there are no withdrawal symptoms.
1655289 tn?1326042889 I'm curious if anyone is taking Topamax for bipolar? I've read it helps with weight loss too. I'm currently taking Zyprexa causing me to gain 45lbs, I want to ask my doctor if I can switch from Zyprexa to Topamax for my bipolar II. I'd love any feedback on either drug and how it affected you.
Avatar f tn Please know that I am not trying to advertise the Dr. Bernstein Weight Loss Program. The reason I mentioned this program is because even with the Dr. Bernstein Program , you loose about 4-5 lbs per week, not 10 ilbs per week. I lost close to 40 ibs on this program. I stopped the program because I was satisfied with this amount of weight loss even though the doctor on sight said I could loose another 10 lbs.
Avatar f tn caregiver222's advice is logical. If for some reason you can't afford the test, try the Slow Carb Diet. The name is misleading, it should be called the Slow Carb Nutritional Program! You can stay on it for the rest of your life! If you own an iPhone - the apps are free online. You can order it online as a hardcover or an eBook. Basically, you can everything except for "White Carbohydrates" .... Bread, potatoes, fruits, rice & noodles - for example!
Avatar n tn fatigue, hair loss, cold feet at night, memory loss, depression, exercise like a maniac but can't lose weight (5'3 - 144lb), throat feel like it need a blanket underneath to separate by skin, High LDL, low Vitamin D. The endo told me that it would be possible that i get Hashi's but it won't be until 5-10 out. He was going to do a 'wait n see' approach. :( I was just happy he gave me meds, but it feels that i may need a new doctor.
Avatar n tn Getting a hard sell from a friend and fellow diabetic who's on a weight loss program called "Isagenix". Says it's great for dibetics. Just wondering if any one on the forum has any first hand knowledge/experience with this program.
Avatar f tn Well that's very great news. Some of us are on medications that don't cause weight gain and it is much better. But some of us still are and the medications still work and don't cause other problems. For myself, the mood stabilizer I take Clonidine causes weight gain. I bought some chocolates today and I had already eaten dessert. I was going to snack on them anyway but I told myself not to or the weight gain would start so I didn't.
1082697 tn?1260064616 It may not be that the Zyprexa is making you peppy, but rather that since it is controling your depression which makes us lathargic and sleepy that it seems that way. I glad it's working for you. I have heard people say negitive things about Zyprexa because they claim it made them gain weight, but I don't think those people were on a good diet or working out. You have to do that to keep the fat off.

559058 tn?1215810834 I'm bp, been on Zyprexa for 5 yrs off and on, gained weight of course, and know that it has tons of other side effects. But I know Depakote is not without side effects either -- like constipation, liver damager etc. What's worse? Plus, I know it causes weight gain also. What do you guys think? Thanks!
Avatar f tn t have hypothyroidism. You might also want to get tested for insulin resistance and PCOS, which also make weight loss very difficult to impossible.
222267 tn?1253302210 He is temporarily putting me on Zyprexa for depression (just came out of mania) and to hopefully get me to eat. We all know Zyprexa causes weight gain. Not eating is another symptom of Lithium toxicity. But I still won't eat for some reason. My pdoc set me up with a nutritionist. I have been taking Lamictal for years. It works some but not enough. I also take Gabapentin.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I am about to start my weight loss prog. Is it true about coffee? I dont drink alcohol but do drink about 20 cup's of coffee a day.
Avatar f tn So I decided to take matters into my own hands with weight loss. But nothing seem to be work. I know weight loss isn't something that work over night. I'm not getting any younger so I came to a Conclusion to stuck with a Deit plan that best fix and works for me. I set a goal for myself to lose about 25lbs in 3-4 months. I know it isn't going to be easy. But that's a risk I'm willing to take. This is going to be a very long Journey but I'm kinda ready for it.
Avatar f tn I had weight loss they put me in Zyprexa. I would see my GP because weight loss can be caused by other conditions.
Avatar n tn My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
Avatar f tn More can be lost through water weight with diuretics and crash dieting can also increase fat loss but only for a short time. When we lose fat too fast our metabolism will slow in order to conserve fat (fuel) deposits (starvation mode) and that creates new problems such a resetting the metabolic rate and fat gains during the plateau, etc.
