If a person needs an antipsychotic of course they have to take one but Depakoate does not have that risk. Zyprexa also has a severe risk for diabetes. My father has just hang off from a phone conversation with a pdoc (we know a bloody herd of them) the guy said according to the British school of psychiatry we give a high dose then seeing that the pt is improving we reduce the dose until we reach a prophilactic dose (maintenace dose). Yet i think Bernie40 our community leader mentioned that one can start on 200mg to reach say 0.3 blood level in lithium then increase it say to 0.5-0.6 subtoxic level.

So by the time you are in your 5th year of illness most of us has completed trying the whole shelves in the pharmacy. So no need to overdose the pt, unless he exhausts the therapeutic dose of each. Less no of drugs with therapeutic doses is better than an amalgamation of mood stabilizers and antipsychotics. ask your pdoc 1st, or change your pdoc. Again every combo needs time to try it.

Now, I'm on zyprexa 5mg then increase to 10 mg. Zyprexa instead of Syroquil. Also, monitoring my WBCs to avoid it's down again. The goal is to prevent high mood first then manage and control low mood. My mood include high, low, and mixed moods. Thank you for your time, answer, and help.

have been on 5mg of zyprexa for 21/2 months and i feel groggy in the morning, slightly depressed until i have some coffee. i missed a dose on purpose to see how i would feel in the morning and i had a great sleep, felt less anxious because i wasn't fatigued from too much sleep. but didn't want to miss more than 1 dose but am concerned that maybe 5mg. is too much to take or that it might not be the drug i should be taking.

The above chart is right because I know well that olanzapine dose is 5-20mg so 20 is max therapeutic dose. Also for seroquel max is 600 (and never exceed 900). Which also means don't exceed 6 for risperidione. So i concluded that my dose can be considered either 2mg of risperidone or 200mg seroquel so in fact it isn't huge i suppose. i am on 150mg seroquel and can't by any means reduce it. Each time i try i fail. I am worried about one day i may have to up my dose like some do. Somehow astra zeneca is marketing it agressively because pdocs around the world advise it seemingly these days and is the preferred drug. In its pamphlet it says 400-600 the therapeutic dose. I don't believe anymore in this terminology as therapeutic. each individual has his own dose.

Also, I should add that the Zyprexa dose is only 1.25mg nightly. Does weight gain depend on the amount you take?

After I quit zyprexa, my general doctor, prescribed metformin, which helped me lose the additional weight. But it seems that the sugar metabolism problems are here to stay. When I look back, I wished I was given other options to Zyprexa. In my case the benefits were not worth the side effects. I am not a doctor, but I do think your headaches and other symptoms are drug related.

I have been taking Zyprexa 5 mg along with Prozac 60 mg for the past 3 months. I have been on Prozac for the past 12 years. On Zyprexa I began to experience Edema and weight gain, which was not great considering I have battled an eating disorder for the past 18 years. I called my doctor and he told me to just stop taking the zyprexa and the edema would go away. I asked him if I should wean down and he said no that there are no withdrawal symptoms.

I am not anxious, paranoid or depressed now but I cannot sleep without taking gabapentin (I am never tired or sleepy, there are other people describing a situation similar to mine after stop taking Zyprexa). 50mg of seroquil I assume is at bed time, because that is a low dose. I take 125 @bed time.Back to the lamictal 25mg. is usuall a intro dose .900 mg of lithium is on the low side but acceptable I use to take 900 up to 1200. In any case, she suggested I go down to 300 mg a day, but I pushed further, saying I believe that the lowest therapeutic dose for any med is the best medicine, and that we never established what that dose is. if i remember olanzapine/zyprexa dose is 5-20mg. so 5 is the least and 20 is max though some take more of course. now because the range is small monitoring the dose is difficult. for example i am on seroquel 150mg which makes me sleepy while 125 is little. so i fix my dose to 125 and each 5 days or so i add 25mg once only and this adjusts my dose. sometimes i take a daily benzo of 1.5mg but not regularly.

My doctor has put me on Lamictal 25mg in the morning with my usual morning dose of Efexor 150mg. He has also put me on Zyprexa 5mg to help me sleep, as my sleep has been very broken, and I became very anxious. Will it be difficult to come off Zyprexa as I don't want to be permanently on this ? The therapeutic dose to hop up a person properly on a drug depends on the person really. Some people have to be doped up more than others.

hi, im a 23yr old woman who experienced her first episode in october last year, i was at first on 20mg of zyprexa and 1000 mg of epilim when i was in the hospital, and have slowly come down to 1.25 mg of zyprexa and 200mg epilim, been on the 1.25 mg of zyprexa for around a week now and want to reduce further, any advice on how to get down to nothing without going mental! went cold turkey off the meds in nov last year and it didnt go too well.

I have been to see pdoc today after having a bit of a wobble following 2 months off medication (did not go cold turkey, did it over 3 months). She has prescribed me Zyprexa but I am really scared about taking it, I really don't want to gain weight - I am still trying to lose the weight I gained on Depakote.
