Avatar m tn I am not physically restricted - I walk 1 mile or more day and do 10 minutes of other light exercises most days. My BP runs under 120/80 most of the time. Avatar m tn The mechanism of action of CampralĀ® (acamprosate calcium) Delayed-Release Tablets in maintenance of alcohol abstinence is not completely understood. Originally, several neurotransmitter systems, including GABA, were investigated for a possible role in Campral's mechanism of action. However, recent evidence suggests Campral's main interaction is with the glutamate system. Chronic alcohol exposure is hypothesized to alter the normal balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition.

Avatar m tn I'm not a doctor or any kind of expert, but I'd pass on the Zyprexa and see if the normal stuff works first. And one warning -- once a person has been on Paxil, it's often hard for anything else to work in the ssri family -- it's a weird med and a strong one. It often doesn't work again for people who go off it, and it's often very difficult to quit and often leaves people with new problems when they do quit it.
1623698 tn?1299161234 If you are the type of person who cannot get off of the zyprexa easily, plan on a very long, slow withdrawal. It took me about 6 months to come off of a 2.5 mg. pill. Finally the pill was down to 1/16th - then I took it every other day for two weeks, then I stopped. It has been about a month since I have totally stopped zyprexa and I still have nausea (but it is manageable) and tons of itching. The doc suggested I try it again - that itching/nausea are a sign of stress. I.will.never.take.

Avatar m tn I am taking Zyprexa 20mg and Clozapine 300mg. At certain times in the day, every day, I get really agitated inside my head and don't know what to do to make it stop. My thoughts are talking me down, but not exactly telling me to commit suicide which is why I'm confused and not sure if these are suicidal thoughts caused by the medicine. I am 26 years old. These thoughts never stop, doesn't matter what I do or what I think.

Avatar n tn The one side effect of concern that differs from one antipsychotic to another is that of weight gain and the potential of diabetes and with that one Zyprexa has the most risk out of all of them. I when I was on Zyprexa gained 35 pounds. However, that starts with weight gain and if that doesn't happen in him it should not be a problem. If it is there are other antipsychotics but Zyprexa has the best mood stabilization ability. If you want full information go to the medication websites.

Avatar f tn Have you talked to the makers of Zyprexa? Sometimes the big pharmas will give the medications at a discounted rate. You would need a prescription though. It is such a shame that people cannot get the medications they need because they have lost their health insurance. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Diabetes also runs on both sides of my family. Are there any mood stabilizers out there that don't cause Diabetes? I like the Zyprexa because it works really well for me. I guess I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there like me?
