Now, I'm on zyprexa 5mg then increase to 10 mg. Zyprexa instead of Syroquil. Also, monitoring my WBCs to avoid it's down again. The goal is to prevent high mood first then manage and control low mood. My mood include high, low, and mixed moods. Thank you for your time, answer, and help.

have been on 5mg of zyprexa for 21/2 months and i feel groggy in the morning, slightly depressed until i have some coffee. i missed a dose on purpose to see how i would feel in the morning and i had a great sleep, felt less anxious because i wasn't fatigued from too much sleep. but didn't want to miss more than 1 dose but am concerned that maybe 5mg. is too much to take or that it might not be the drug i should be taking.

Also, I should add that the Zyprexa dose is only 1.25mg nightly. Does weight gain depend on the amount you take?

It is probably not a good idea to use Zyprexa (which is an antipsychotic) as a sleep aid. Zyprexa can cause both sedation and insomnia. The dose you took is relatively small, but it can still cause side-effects and withdrawal effects. Did your doctor prescribe this to you? If you are having trouble sleeping, there are many other techniques and medications that can be used.

Sometimes Zyprexa can be used with an antidepressant such as Fluoxetine (Prozac). Zyprexa can be dosed at different amounts depending on the diagnosis, so I do not know if your dose is low. I took zyprexa for 4 years, gained 50lbs while taking it and developed sugar metabolism problems. After I quit zyprexa, my general doctor, prescribed metformin, which helped me lose the additional weight. But it seems that the sugar metabolism problems are here to stay. 5 mg,last night i looked into my medicine bag and i was out of zyprexa,i thought that id skip one dose,so i took the rest without zyprexa,i overslept today and didnt feel like going out all day,now when i woke up all the pharmacies are closed so ill have to make do with the remaining medications without zyprexa for one night more,ill wake up at 8 30 and at 9 when the pharmacy opens should i just take zyprexa 5 mg immediately in the morning or wait till night and take it with my remaining medicat

I have been taking Zyprexa 5 mg along with Prozac 60 mg for the past 3 months. I have been on Prozac for the past 12 years. On Zyprexa I began to experience Edema and weight gain, which was not great considering I have battled an eating disorder for the past 18 years. I called my doctor and he told me to just stop taking the zyprexa and the edema would go away. I asked him if I should wean down and he said no that there are no withdrawal symptoms.

I am not anxious, paranoid or depressed now but I cannot sleep without taking gabapentin (I am never tired or sleepy, there are other people describing a situation similar to mine after stop taking Zyprexa). I am worry, because the same way Zyprexa can make people have diabetes, it can permanently disrupt other psychological process in the brain an produce this chronic insomnia. I am incline to think that the damage is at the hypothalamus, I am never hungry or thirsty.

Three days later, I felt normal again...a feeling so wonderful I can't put it into words. Give them a try and you may be surprised. t understand though why zyprexa + seroquel. One is enough to get you out from the mixed state with a proper dose.

Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.

If given a choice between an antipsychotic (Zyprexa) and a mood stabilizer (Depakoate) I would choose Depakoate. Zyprexa does have the risk of tardive dyskinesia. If a person needs an antipsychotic of course they have to take one but Depakoate does not have that risk. Zyprexa also has a severe risk for diabetes. All of the atypicals do but Zyprexa is most likely to.

My doctor has put me on Lamictal 25mg in the morning with my usual morning dose of Efexor 150mg. He has also put me on Zyprexa 5mg to help me sleep, as my sleep has been very broken, and I became very anxious. Will it be difficult to come off Zyprexa as I don't want to be permanently on this ? hi, im a 23yr old woman who experienced her first episode in october last year, i was at first on 20mg of zyprexa and 1000 mg of epilim when i was in the hospital, and have slowly come down to 1.25 mg of zyprexa and 200mg epilim, been on the 1.25 mg of zyprexa for around a week now and want to reduce further, any advice on how to get down to nothing without going mental! went cold turkey off the meds in nov last year and it didnt go too well.

I have been to see pdoc today after having a bit of a wobble following 2 months off medication (did not go cold turkey, did it over 3 months). She has prescribed me Zyprexa but I am really scared about taking it, I really don't want to gain weight - I am still trying to lose the weight I gained on Depakote.

Yes my son been on this medication and has been gaining sooo much weight my son still the same with his aggressive behavior and adhd the same diagnosis as your son know with him gaining so much weight im no longer giving him these pills

When i first started risperdone i was started at the highest dose and same with depakote but zyprexa was started at a low dose but after a week I was at a high dose. The problem that I run into is that I build up a tolerance. such as when I was on seroquel I started at 300 mg. and by the end of the month i was at 1200 mg. that was during a hospital stay and that only worked for a short period of time.

My brother takes 10 mg Haloperidol 15mg zyprexa 30 mg mirtazapine as the haloperidol and zyprexa are for the same things why couldnt he just take a stronger dose of haloperidol as it would be a lot less expensive

In January of this year I began using Zyprexa for bipolar and psychosis. After 5 months of using the medication (20mg daily) I began experiencing some sexual side effects such as a dry orgasm, low sperm count, etc. - all of which were unexplainable. My psychiatrist asked that i stop the zyprexa immediately as it was causing an increase in prolactin levels, he asked that i stop the drug COLD TURKEY! (no weaning off) - When I stopped the medication, i did not sleep for 4 days.

I just take Zyprexa alone and it works for me. I am lucky I only need 2.5 mg it has a pretty strong effect on me. Because of the weight gain I want to know if anyone has found an alternative that works as well as zyprexa?

thanks so much. i have never been on anythng like zyprexa, i took it last night. it di dnot knock me out at all. but it made me sleepy. i woke up with less anxiety. i guess it takes a while to get into your system. i went on a site aabout zyprexa. a lot of people had awful side affects. like gaining weight. well, i i only low cal food. lots of veggies and fruit. doctor told me i will not gain weight if i watch wht i eat. plus i go the gym every chance i get.
