zyprexa heart attack

ive never done that before,any health risks of skipping a dose of zyprexa for 36-48 hours?

Hi All. Im new to the site but so glad i have found somewhere to talk to people with similar illness. I have been having panic attacks now for 6 weeks related to a health worry. Mines always relate to health worries. I have been on zoloft for years but my doctor put me on Alprax 3 x 0.5mg per day but he doesn't want me to keep taking them because they're addictive. They also suggested putting me on Zyprexa short term.

Hi Zyprexa (generic Olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication. Zyprexa is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic depression). The most commonly reported side effects are sleepiness or excessive sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain. Other side effects include akathisia (an inability to sit still), constipation, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension and tremors.

Can anyone give me some info. on zyprexa? Has anyone been given this to help stabalize their mood, during withdrawal? If so, please share with me if you benefited from this, and is this addictive as well?

Usually my attacks consist of fast breathing and my muscles tighten and then it sends me into the attack but i can usually calm myself within a few minutes. Lately it has been feeling like my heart is going to pound out of my chest, not fast, but just really hard. I live in a place that it gets over 100° so the ac is always on and any cold sends me into an attack.

I am on Zyprexa 2.5 mg for depression. It has practically cured me but my heart is beating out of synch all the time now. I was diagnosed with a harmless heart arrhythmia a year ago and the Zyprexa is making it much worse. My cardiologist and psychiatrist said it was nothing to worry about but I'm scared. Risperdal also had the same effect, too. I tried Abilify but It made me way too jittery. Has anyone else out there experienced this?

I am not anxious, paranoid or depressed now but I cannot sleep without taking gabapentin (I am never tired or sleepy, there are other people describing a situation similar to mine after stop taking Zyprexa). I am worry, because the same way Zyprexa can make people have diabetes, it can permanently disrupt other psychological process in the brain an produce this chronic insomnia. I am incline to think that the damage is at the hypothalamus, I am never hungry or thirsty.

I was given 10 mg Zyprexa by my pdoc for about four months. It stopped working, so he took me off of it. I went from 10mg to 5 mg for a week, then to 2.5mg for a week, then off. This is the 12th day and I've been experiencing intense withdrawal: An extreme anxiety that I've never before experienced, an indescribable, awful feeling, insomnia/early waking, severe and persistent diarrhea, dry heaves and throwing up, unable to eat, etc.

I'm finding that I can tolerate Zyprexa but that the MAO inhibitors and the serotonin reuptake inhibitors make me go "manic" after a few days. They also seem to cause my heart to speed up.

I am so sorry that a Dr. would prescribe this class of drug for insomnia. Were you diagnosed as psychotic, bipolar, or something else? This class of drugs are called antipsychotics. When we need quality sleep, there are plenty of sleep aids available that are quite effective - Ambien, Sonata, etc., to name a few. Who is rx'ing this drug to you? If you want to get off of this, I suggest you find another physician, hopefully a well qualified psychiatrist, who will help you in the withdrawal.

How long does it take and how do I reduce the amount? I've been changed from Zyprexa to Seroquel because my depression came back. Within days I was extremely dizzy and nauseous and I concluded that it was withdrawal from Zyprexa so the Psychiatrist said to go back on it. Two months later, when I was feeling better, we tried it again but the same thing happened. By this time I was being told that I had an inner ear problem or it was caused by the new med.

I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

5 was just wondering.......because I feel so mentally down, some depression, crazy thoughts, mind racing over things that worry me. I cant seem to control my thoughts from going there. I feel sad alot. At this point I just dont know. Well anyhow about 2-3 wks ago,in the midst of withdrawal, I did go see my doc, I did not tell him I was in withdrawal this time, I did tell him once last year, that was when I got clean for just about a year.

i took zyprexa untill i had wieght gain to the point that it effected my heart it also has the side effect of almost getting rid of your emotions i dont recomend its safty

My son, 21, has been on Zyprexa for 6 months after presenting with a psychotic episode. His psychiatrist recommended a switch from Zyprexa to Zeldox fearing the deveopment of metabolic syndrome. He has now moved and is looking for a new psychiatrist which will take some time before the first appointment. What dosage of Zeldox would be equivalent to 10 mg daily of Zyprexa? What side effects can be expected during the switch from Zyprexa to Zeldox?

To keyvin: I tappered zyprexa very slowly (using 10% reductions from the initial 2,5mg dose - 0,2mg reductions) until 0.7 mg, then I do a cold turkey (not a smart move, I know). After 2 weeks without it, my sleep sensation become to return, but I was put on zyprexa again (because a anxiety attack - and my sleep problem returned).

I have wanted my son off zyprexa for awhile. Everytime he comes off an amount by the 3rd day he gets sucidal. how do I wean him off safely? How do you wean off this medication slowly and safely. It has never helped his depression, he has started lithium and seems okay, he was extremely senitivie to all medications, like zoloft prozac, all very bad.

placed me on Abilify and my heart palpitation was so severe that I had to go back on Zyprexa. I am taking 1.5 mg of kolonopin for anxiety and 2.5 mg of zyprexa now.Tried to cut out the medication completely but my simptoms returned so I can't do without any medication. Are there any other medication in the market that is similar to Zyprexa that would not effect my liver enzyme? Used Efexor but had heart palpitation.

i thank you all from my heart,i stopped taking Zyprexa Yesturday but now im gonna take it,i don't know i was scared after i rode all those kind of side effects and i thought that drug its made only for schitzophrenia or bipolar depression (which i think i don't have).Maybe with time all of my sleepy feelings,tiredness,dizziness and confusion will go away,maybe my body may adapt and all my dereality and depersonality thoughts will take over.

For the 2 years, he has been on the same meds, concerta 54mg bid, welbutrin SR 150 bid, depakote 500mg in am and 1000mg in pm and zyprexa zyda 10mg, within the last 3 months methylphenidate 10mg was added to his regimen for problems his mother feels like he is having at home.

Well I do enjoy it but sometimes like you said impulses and behaviors get out of hand somttimes one thing that does scare me is my heart rate the first time I was in the hopi tal i should h ave stroked out they said. But im on lithium I was also on blood pressure medicine and zyprexa but I did not like it what about you?

how long before you can return to work after having a inferior stemi heart attack and stent put in

the next day my father called the doctor to see if they got the results but no one answered, he then called the next day which would be thursday and no one answered again. well that very same day my father had a heart attack. I was wondering how long it takes for you to get the results of the tests and how accurate they are.

This feeling is like what I imagine the crushing feeling that people who have had a heart attack describe in their chest. Has anyone experienced or been diagnosed because of this symtom?

Several years ago I had a silent heart attack and was in ER for 3-4 days with consgested heart failure. The RCA was stented providing more blood to the deficit area and wall motion returned to normal with medication as well as a reduction of heart size and normal contractions.
