From what I remember from when I was on Zyprexa as my psychiatrist told me it has a long half life (meaning time it takes to build up in the blood stream) so it showed at least a month before it showed any started to show full efficacy although I could feel some effect from the beginning. Also I don't believe that 5 mg. is a full clinical dose. However each person responds differently to each medication and it depends on what your psychiatrist is trying to treat.

We got in to see her psychiatrist and she spilled her guts about denying and covering up the manic episodes in the past. He put her on Zyprexa to knock down the mania and then started her on Lamictal, keeping her on Effexor. That was all about two weeks ago. I guess my question is: is there any chance of a normal life after being diagnosed?

t think there is any direct health risk (heart attack for example) for skipping 2-3 doses. Zyprexa have a relatively long half-life that can be more than 48 hour. The side-effects you can get from skipping doses are more neurobiological, excess dopamine for example that could produce schizophrenia symptoms, psychosis if you are treated for schizophrenia or had psychotic episodes before. It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.

Zyprexa makes EVERYTHING taste good.My doc told me to take zantac half hour befroe eating and this will supressthe appetite. and whadda ya know it WORKS!!lol I have been on zyprexa for 7 years and it has been my miracle but I did gain weight and on top that I was hypothryoid. Now I am on synthroid9 thryoidectomy sept 06 and my metabolism is working again I have lost from 225 to 198. so it is possible tyo loose weight while on zyprexa. we just have to work a liitle harder at it.

I have wanted my son off zyprexa for awhile. Everytime he comes off an amount by the 3rd day he gets sucidal. how do I wean him off safely? How do you wean off this medication slowly and safely. It has never helped his depression, he has started lithium and seems okay, he was extremely senitivie to all medications, like zoloft prozac, all very bad.

Hi, I am experiencing burning feet,skin sensitivity and pains in my hands and feet during Zyprexa withdrawal,I`ve been on Zyprexa for 6 years and off it for about 5 months now.Please let me know if the burning feet and all other symptoms will go away with time? m just not a big fan of any anti-psychotic drugs for depression and anxiety) I had my Psych prescribe me a strong Tri-cyclic and 900Mgs a day of Lithium then added Klonopin for the anxiety. (I used to take Xanax, but the half life was way too short with Xanax so I went Klonopin instead) It was a good move because 2Mgs of Klonopin controls my anxiety way better than Xanax.

I took zyprexa for 4 years, gained 50lbs while taking it and developed sugar metabolism problems. After I quit zyprexa, my general doctor, prescribed metformin, which helped me lose the additional weight. But it seems that the sugar metabolism problems are here to stay. When I look back, I wished I was given other options to Zyprexa. In my case the benefits were not worth the side effects. I am not a doctor, but I do think your headaches and other symptoms are drug related.

I dont have any bad side effects and even my sex life is great. For me the zyprexa is so much better. I think depakote andlithium should be take off the market.But again thait is my opinion. There are much better meds out there than those two.

Now, I'm on zyprexa 5mg then increase to 10 mg. Zyprexa instead of Syroquil. Also, monitoring my WBCs to avoid it's down again. The goal is to prevent high mood first then manage and control low mood. My mood include high, low, and mixed moods. Thank you for your time, answer, and help.

Hi Zyprexa (generic Olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic medication. Zyprexa is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic depression). The most commonly reported side effects are sleepiness or excessive sleeping, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain. Other side effects include akathisia (an inability to sit still), constipation, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension and tremors.

After very sever psychotic depression (so bad I couldnt hold down water) three years later I have made a good recovery. I just need 2.5 mg zyprexa to live my life. It prevents relapse. But the weight gain is hard. Has anyone found an alternative that works as well as zyprexa but without the weight.

I was on Zyprexa for about a year and a half and I got a few of these murmurs. I was reassured that they were harmless and because they didn't especially hurt I was satisfied with this answer. Since then I have been switching around medications like a lab rat, and most of the others have caused me significant constirnation. The best for my mind seemed to be Geodon, but then again I was only on it for about 10 days before reading that it may cause Parkinson-like symptoms.

So he came to the conclusion after a few questions that I was Bi-Polar? So he put me on 5mg of Zyprexa once a day. I took the Zyprexa as perscribed, however I lost my job and my insurance as well. About 4 days after stopping the pills I had what I can only describe as a nervous breakdown. I was hit with an absolute feeling of being worthless and had the most severe anxiety I have ever dealt with.

I’m prescribed Effexor 225 er. Zyprexa (15) makes me too tired though, amitryptiline 150 for sleep mirtazipine 15for sleep. Gabapentin400 mg 4 times a day for anxiety. I have trouble getting out of bed when my daughter isn’t here with me. That’s the only good thing about me is I’m a great father with 50/50 custody. I also am a former addict . For some reason when my doctor asks me if I’m depressed and I tell her no, I’m just now realizing that this whole time I have been depressed.

the zyprexa is working so well. i am the only one she has on zyprexa that is not sleepy. she is amazed at how good it works for me.

decided to quit taking it on a monday felt fine all week untill sun when i went into serious withdrawl! so as far as half life im not sure? but you can bet i was back on it mon! so i guess it was in my system for 6 days after i stopped. p.s.

?? Does anyone know the Half life of SUBOXONE - Beprenorphine.? I HEARD it was 70 hours, but that's what I heard....unsure if that is even accurate?
