Yeah i totally agree with Ryan, i took Paxil 20mg for agraphobia, social anxiety and panic disorder for 14years and from went from being afraid of my shadow to an outgoing, enjoying life kinda woman.

I am just curious how freely is Zyprexa prescribed for anxiety disorders outside Australia? I will certainly discuss this with my doctor when I see him next, but I welcome anyone who has more knowledge on this matter. Thanks.

I mean like I take a med for depression, a med for mania, is there one for anxiety? Thank you for your help.

something for this anxiety.....In everyones experience how long does it take for meds like zyprexa and valporate to kick in?....shouldn't something have lessened the anxiety by now???????????????? I appreciate all the guidance here everyone..I do alot of reading however human experience is at times even more valuable.

I was placed in a mental institution for a week and the only treatment that i have recibved in the last 18mths has been to get a presciption form a doctor for my medication for zyprexa i was put on 10mg daily dose. I want to now get off this medication as i do not have any symptoms of schizophrenia or paraniod thoughts, i also am not longer depressed or anxious and have been like this for quite some months now, what can i do to now come off my medication and be told that i am fine?

i am taking citalopram and zyprexa for depression. i am on vicodin for shoulder pain. since i have been on the pills i have not needed my pain pillls. i am wondering if anyone has experienced this. did the depression cause my pain? i have not had any bad side affects on the zyprexa. in fact i have so much energy now. i tend to get into deep depression so bad i can hardly get out of bed. i have been taking the zyprexa for about 4 weeks now. the doctor put me on since my citalopram needed a boost.

After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.

I was given 10 mg Zyprexa by my pdoc for about four months. It stopped working, so he took me off of it. I went from 10mg to 5 mg for a week, then to 2.5mg for a week, then off. This is the 12th day and I've been experiencing intense withdrawal: An extreme anxiety that I've never before experienced, an indescribable, awful feeling, insomnia/early waking, severe and persistent diarrhea, dry heaves and throwing up, unable to eat, etc.

Does zyprexa or Zopiclone cause excessive yawying. I have been on both for a while and I have been yawning alot. I do have anxiety. Do these drugs cause excessive yawying?

Hi, I'm 24 I've been diagnosed with bipolar, depression, severe anxiety and OCD. I'm taking 100mg of Zoloft (for about 8 years now) It was recently 200mg, but my Dr was going to change it, but while weaning off them I got so depressed and started having suicidal thoughts and started cutting again. I think I should go back up 200mg because I 'm still not coping well. I also take 5mg of Zyprexa daily. I feel there is something else wrong though.

OK, I will try to consult with my doctor for Zyprexa (Olanzapine). Wikipedia said FDA approved it for only Mania in bipolar patients not for depression. But I think antipsychotics also reduce depression by looking at the experiences of different people. Can Risperidone also work like Zyprexa? I am currently on it with an anti depressant.

I agree completely with Ryan. I think his opinion of your condition is spot on...and if your doc is trying to diagnose and treat a non-existant psychotic condition like Schizophrenia, you are going to end up worse off than what you started. Antipsychotic meds are useful in some situations....but they should be used VERY cautiously. I'm not a fan of them for anxiety disorders at all. Even severe anxiety. Like Ryan said...

Because wellbutrin is the most stimulating antidepressant out there and is not recommended for those for whom anxiety is a problem. Doctors usually only combine an ssri with wellbutrin if you're having sexual dysfunction or weight gain if anxiety is a problem. Here's what probably happened: you had either a common reaction to antibiotics, or the antibiotics have killed off your beneficial organisms.

However if your doctor has prescibed this drug for anxiety then I think that it is safe for you assume that it used for anxiety. Does it not mention what the drug is used for on the directions/side affects? They wouldn't prescribe a drug that is of no use to you. I was on a drug called Olanzapine and that had had some bad press about it possibly causing diabetes.

I asked him to give me something to help me through the next few days. He told me he wanted me back on the zyprexa and gave me samples for the next month due to the cost of the medicine. So I went back on zyprexa hoping it wouldl make me feel lilke my self again. I took them for the next 30 days and everything went back to normal except the anxiety feeling and the constant worrying.I also felt like I was in a fog mentally and had lost my sex drive.

Now i am under stablon a French AD non-existent in Canada i am afraid but fantastic for anxiety and mild. There is the welbutrin they say doesn't bring mania. But your pdoc has to find something for his anxiety. You remember gabapentin (neurontin) an MS weak but excellent for anxiety. I remember your 1st letter seeking an anxiolytic but not benzo because addictive.

Yes I used to have some kind of social anxiety and self consiousnes but it's not the breakup,it's the stress the relationship caused to me (crazy ex..) and I tried to get over it but I guess it had to do more with a nervous problem than something to be treated with antipsychotics cause these pills have some weird side effects. Yes I'll get a second opinion,but till then do you know how long will it take to get addicted on risperdal? cause I don't want to.

I am on Zyprexa 2.5 mg for depression. It has practically cured me but my heart is beating out of synch all the time now. I was diagnosed with a harmless heart arrhythmia a year ago and the Zyprexa is making it much worse. My cardiologist and psychiatrist said it was nothing to worry about but I'm scared. Risperdal also had the same effect, too. I tried Abilify but It made me way too jittery. Has anyone else out there experienced this?

m suppose to be taking zyprexa and I scared to because I have Xanax in my system and have never tried zyprexa.

There is no magic pill or cure for w/ds unfortunately and sometimes, people make choices to take medications that can cause other problems (like Oxy mentioned) or they take high doses of a medication to stave off w.ds that also cause risks. There are some meds that can help symptomatically treat w/ds that are pretty low risk and non addictive. To look for something to take it away completely though just isn't realistic.

It is not recommended to take Zyprexa during pregnancy.

I got diagnosed Bipolar 1 four years ago, I'm currently twenty two. I currently take 30 mg. of zyprexa,. 1500 mg. depakote, 2 mg. benztropine, 50 mg. of risperdone, and 50 mg. testim . I have gained 70 pounds of fat. When I'm not in a mania I sleep from the zyprexa for 12 hours a night. My anxiety is so high and from all of the side affects, just to name a few I have had diarrhea for the last three years, retrograde ejaculation, weight gain, restless legs syndrome.
