zyprexa

8798274 tn?1399988458 I would advise you to consult a sleep specialist who would assess with first a sleep questionnaire, and then he may ask for a polysomnogram, which is an overnight sleep study as this helps to detect sleep disorders. Regards.
Avatar f tn A few years back when I had chronic insomnia and got very anxious and depressed due to the sleep loss, a psychiatrist prescribed me Remeron and Zyprexa. Zyprexa to get the sleep going until Remeron kicks in. I fortunately saw my doctor who got very angry with the psychiatrist for giving me Zyprexa as I was not psychotic and secondly there are very bad side effects from it.
Avatar f tn Zyprexa (olanzapine) is an antipsychotic drug. That group of drug if taken for a long time can cause sleep disturbances when You stop it suddenly. I have known people on this drug and similar medications in the same group that could not sleep after stopping this medication for a long time. As Your body is use to this medication and the Zyprexa has the effect of making You feel drowsy and in a daze Your body can become dependant on it given over a certain amount of time.
5790942 tn?1374334321 There is no magic pill or cure for w/ds unfortunately and sometimes, people make choices to take medications that can cause other problems (like Oxy mentioned) or they take high doses of a medication to stave off w.ds that also cause risks. There are some meds that can help symptomatically treat w/ds that are pretty low risk and non addictive. To look for something to take it away completely though just isn't realistic.
Avatar f tn hi your enquiry is tough to answer because you are asking whether you should go back to zyprexa, who can tell you except your pdoc. if you don't trust him search for another one since eventually you shall follow one. zyprexa has a strong stabilization effect like IL said but there are others too. The only question i can answer is that your lexapro won't help you for sure, on the contrary it may trigger all kinds of bad results, usually BP pts take along an AD an MS to cover it up.
Avatar n tn Zyprexa can cause drowsiness when you first start taking it as can Lithium. It takes time for the body to adjust but if after a couple of weeks she is still very sleepy it would be worth discussing the Zyprexa again. Lithium is different for everyone but can cause drowsiness when you first start it, although that doesn't mean it definitely will. I found I was drowsy for the first couple of weeks.
Avatar f tn it is not a narcotic type drug.....I hear they also use it for anxiety disorders also....hope this helps out some....take care...
Avatar f tn You should have never been prescribed this for sleep. It is primarily used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorders and are commonly called mood stabilizers. I was prescribed Zyprexa for GAD or general anxiety disorder and told it was a good non addictive choice since I wanted of benzo's like xanax. That is would help regulate my anxiety and of course help me sleep. Bad choice and I should have researched. I am sure you slept great on it as I did the zyprexa almost too good.
Avatar m tn agitated than it is manic, per se, The Zyprexa works well for this, except for its notorious weight-gain side effects. I just can't handle the weight issues. Does anyone know of a another drug, that perhaps comes in a rapid-release form, that would make sense as a replacement for the Zyprexa? I'd prefer to take something that can be used on the as needed basis. I will ask my doctor, of course, but wanted to see about other people's experiences. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I took Zyprexa 5mg for 3 nights only to help with sleep, but have not taken it for 2 nights. Had really difficulty getting to sleep and my sleep was really broken up. Is this normal for this med.
Avatar f tn Having real trouble sleeping - well ok, more trouble than normal! I take 3.75 to 7.5mg zopiclone anyway at night but even that isn't working. I just don't feel tired. The trouble is I know it will hit me and I will crash, I just don't know when and I really hate that. I dare not make any plans for the next few days because I don't want to have to cancel them when I finally crash into sleep land.
1589929 tn?1310066922 m pregnant so I stopped taking it but I was on Zyprexa before I got pregnant and it helped me sleep and I really need something. If anyone has anything to say about Zyprexa and pregnancy I would love to hear it (I'm not taking Zyprexa at the moment.) Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed 5 mg. Zyprexa for sleep for about a little over a month. My psychiatrist then told me I should get off it so I started tapering off to 2.5 mg for ten days then stop. The first two days after I stopped taking the med. I was o.k. the next few days, I have very bad insomnia and could not fall asleep at all, so I called my psy. . He said cutting it down to half a pill at 1.2 mg. should be sufficient and that I should not have any problem.
Avatar n tn I got diagnosed Bipolar 1 four years ago, I'm currently twenty two. I currently take 30 mg. of zyprexa,. 1500 mg. depakote, 2 mg. benztropine, 50 mg. of risperdone, and 50 mg. testim . I have gained 70 pounds of fat. When I'm not in a mania I sleep from the zyprexa for 12 hours a night. My anxiety is so high and from all of the side affects, just to name a few I have had diarrhea for the last three years, retrograde ejaculation, weight gain, restless legs syndrome.
Avatar m tn Poor sleep pattern and sleep problems like sleep apnea too can cause brain fog. You may sleep your customary 8-10 hours, feel fresh and yet have a sleep problem. Sleep studies by sleep specialists can help diagnose this. Low Vit D or Vit B12 too could be the cause. Hypothyroidism, diabetes (maybe these two are ruled out) and hormonal imbalance in men- this could be related to low testosterone, should be investigated.
8798274 tn?1399988458 When I stopped the medication, I started with serious problems (a lot of crying, anxiety, panic attack and sleep problems). I did not sleep for 3 days, then I slept like for three days. I do not feel tired anymore, I do not get that sleepy tired feeling. I have tried many meds to help me to sleep (trazodone, klonopin, Geodon..) nothing help. Now I am sleeping 2-3 hours a night with the help of gabapentin, but I do not feel tired, I DO NOT GET SLEEPY.
1257808 tn?1322762215 Since I increased Zyprexa to 20mg, I became sleep for very long time. Most of the day sleep or sleepy. I'm not sure what to do. Continue on this dose (20mg) until my body deal with it or decrease the dose to 15mg.
Avatar n tn Well I can say for myself that I'd be concerned taking more than one anti-psychotic at a time. That's how I developed severe tardive dyskinesia to begin with which the rate of developing it as my psychopharmocologist stated "with typicals 5% per person per year and atypical antipsychotics 2.5% per person per year". Every antipsychotic you are one are atypical antipsychotics but I would see no reason you should be on more than one.
1082697 tn?1260064616 i take so many pills to get to sleep at night and i might sleep for 4 good hours. i am never tired, just wired! i do not want to become a zombie taking another pill. i can cut the xanax out , it does nothing for me. and the vicodin makes me crazy. the clelexa does not work anymore . i have NO insurance so i cannot go on the more expensive pills. i am going to try to take the zyprexa tomorrow night since i do not have to work the next day.
Avatar m tn OK, I will try to consult with my doctor for Zyprexa (Olanzapine). Wikipedia said FDA approved it for only Mania in bipolar patients not for depression. But I think antipsychotics also reduce depression by looking at the experiences of different people. Can Risperidone also work like Zyprexa? I am currently on it with an anti depressant.
Avatar f tn For about 3 months now I've been waking up every 2 hours. Now, for the last three nights I wake up every hour. Sometimes I'm able to go back to sleep...other times it takes an hour or so. Sometimes after I wake up I also experience a hot flash. (I'm 52) But not always. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Also, ensure to use CPAP regularly to fight the symptoms of sleep apnea. A sleep study called polysomnography may be needed for further evaluation. Consult your doctor for the same. In the meantime you could avoid taking alcohol and try to sleep on your side as this keeps the airways patent. If any nasal blocks try to keep them patent with OTC nasal decongestants. Aim for optimum weight with exercises or long walks. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have taken 10 mg Zolpidem (Ambien) for years as it really helps me sleep. But I think it may be causing my tinnitus. The only way to be sure of this is to stop taking it for a time and see if tinnitus goes away. So far, I have not taken any for 11 nights and tinnitus is still the same. - A pretty much constant low-pitched noise. How long would I have to stay off Zolpidem before knowing whether or not it is the culprit?
Avatar n tn have been on 5mg of zyprexa for 21/2 months and i feel groggy in the morning, slightly depressed until i have some coffee. i missed a dose on purpose to see how i would feel in the morning and i had a great sleep, felt less anxious because i wasn't fatigued from too much sleep. but didn't want to miss more than 1 dose but am concerned that maybe 5mg. is too much to take or that it might not be the drug i should be taking.
