Zyprexa for anxiety and depression

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa for anxiety and depression

zyprexa

Avatar f tn Because wellbutrin is the most stimulating antidepressant out there and is not recommended for those for whom anxiety is a problem. Doctors usually only combine an ssri with wellbutrin if you're having sexual dysfunction or weight gain if anxiety is a problem. Here's what probably happened: you had either a common reaction to antibiotics, or the antibiotics have killed off your beneficial organisms.
Avatar m tn OK, I will try to consult with my doctor for Zyprexa (Olanzapine). Wikipedia said FDA approved it for only Mania in bipolar patients not for depression. But I think antipsychotics also reduce depression by looking at the experiences of different people. Can Risperidone also work like Zyprexa? I am currently on it with an anti depressant.
874521 tn?1424116797 Now i am under stablon a French AD non-existent in Canada i am afraid but fantastic for anxiety and mild. There is the welbutrin they say doesn't bring mania. But your pdoc has to find something for his anxiety. You remember gabapentin (neurontin) an MS weak but excellent for anxiety. I remember your 1st letter seeking an anxiolytic but not benzo because addictive.
1082697 tn?1260064616 i am taking citalopram and zyprexa for depression. i am on vicodin for shoulder pain. since i have been on the pills i have not needed my pain pillls. i am wondering if anyone has experienced this. did the depression cause my pain? i have not had any bad side affects on the zyprexa. in fact i have so much energy now. i tend to get into deep depression so bad i can hardly get out of bed. i have been taking the zyprexa for about 4 weeks now. the doctor put me on since my citalopram needed a boost.
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.

Avatar m tn What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.

401554 tn?1270213756 I was on Zyprexa for about a year and a half and I got a few of these murmurs. I was reassured that they were harmless and because they didn't especially hurt I was satisfied with this answer. Since then I have been switching around medications like a lab rat, and most of the others have caused me significant constirnation. The best for my mind seemed to be Geodon, but then again I was only on it for about 10 days before reading that it may cause Parkinson-like symptoms.
Avatar f tn Personally, I am not a fan of EITHER of those meds for the treatment of anxiety. Zyprexa is an anti-psychotic and can be used as an adjunct treatment (along with an antidepressant) in treatment of depression and anxiety that hasn't responded well to just an antidepressant. Again, just in my humble opinion, I think there are better options out there, especially to START with. Have you tried any other medication? Therapy? How long have you had anxiety issues?
Avatar m tn I’m prescribed Effexor 225 er. Zyprexa (15) makes me too tired though, amitryptiline 150 for sleep mirtazipine 15for sleep. Gabapentin400 mg 4 times a day for anxiety. I have trouble getting out of bed when my daughter isn’t here with me. That’s the only good thing about me is I’m a great father with 50/50 custody. I also am a former addict . For some reason when my doctor asks me if I’m depressed and I tell her no, I’m just now realizing that this whole time I have been depressed.
616450 tn?1228433627 back into the anxiety/depression thing for a few hours. I went over to help my stepdad do some things and had to pace around the yard for about an hour and then went inside and flopped down on the floor and cried. My mother came and put a pillow under my head and told me to hold on. (I'm a 39 year-old Mama's boy who still thinks like a kid.) I had popped a couple Xanies on the way, which I'm trying to avoid, but it was enough to help.
1082697 tn?1260064616 m not a huge fan of anti-psychotic drugs for depression or anxiety.
Avatar f tn I take a very low dose of klonopin .5mg and it helps with anxiety and I take it 3 times a day. It helps out and doesn't make you have so much anxiety about what's going around you.
628714 tn?1268238196 Does zyprexa or Zopiclone cause excessive yawying. I have been on both for a while and I have been yawning alot. I do have anxiety. Do these drugs cause excessive yawying?
874521 tn?1424116797 From what I remember Depakoate and Zyprexa both were extremely sedating for me and Depakoate in general works better on mania than depression. But its better to wait to speak to his psychiatrist before making any changes. Abilify is an antipsychotic that is the least sedating and Lamictal is less sedating than Depakoate and works better on depression. You could ask his psychiatrist about that.
Avatar n tn ) it is I amm on it for depression and anxiety- and lamictal for bi polar and buspar for anxiety ; )
Avatar n tn placed me on Abilify and my heart palpitation was so severe that I had to go back on Zyprexa. I am taking 1.5 mg of kolonopin for anxiety and 2.5 mg of zyprexa now.Tried to cut out the medication completely but my simptoms returned so I can't do without any medication. Are there any other medication in the market that is similar to Zyprexa that would not effect my liver enzyme? Used Efexor but had heart palpitation.
Avatar f tn Anyhow, onto my question... In addition to depression, I struggle with anxiety and take 1 mg Ativan as needed, up to 3x/day. The Ativan helps with the anxiety but I've noticed if I have to take it for a few days in a row it really seems to affect my mood, in that I often feel even more depressed than I did before taking it.
Avatar n tn yes, it is. are you bipolar? i was on zyprexa for 2 weeks and i made the decision to stop it because the side effects were awful. tired and nervous at the same time, plus i gained 11 pounds in two weeks. i find that although i may have periods of hypomania, it is not enough to warrant being on meds for mania. most of them are very strong and the side effects are even worse in the long run.
Avatar m tn t eat, sleep, etc for two weeks. She went in the hospital for a month and they started her on meds and ECT treatments which seemed to help quite a bit, but it is a difficult treatment to go through and is only used in really really bad cases. She has underlying issues that cause her depression. Do you have any unresolved issues? Are you in counseling at all? I would suggest that. Your on Remeron which is a great severe depression medication. My girlfriends mom was also put on Zyprexa.
Avatar f tn I just started Zoloft 5 days ago for my anxiety and depression. I was having severe anxiety and panic attacks every single day. Just sitting in my house doing nothing I would get numbness, horrible chest pains, muscle aches, back aches, headaches, i was a mess, and i read up on Zoloft and heard about the side effects, which i have experienced some, like diarrhia and migraines, and i thought about quitting, but i am going to give it a shot. Its only been 5 days. I will give it a month.
Avatar n tn I would not change her medications without speaking to her psychiatrist. If they thought she had bipolar and took her off Prozac that would make sense because that can worsen mania. Zyprexa is an antipsychotic that is a good mood stabilizer but that is sedating. Abilify is less so but as you said she couldn't tolerate it. Lithium is worth trying. Its the most effective mood stabilizer out there.
Avatar f tn My life is in the best place it has been as long as I can remember and yet I am sad and miserable and have anger episodes for no reason with my husband. I am 47 and it has been suggested I tried hormone replacement as I am going through menopause and now I am confused as to whether I should get back on Zyprexa or something else.
Avatar f tn I myself have been on many head meds till I got on the combo of celexa (for the depression side) and zyprexa (mood stabilizer for the manic side) In bi polar if you take one without the other, antidepressant or mood stabilizer it will tip you in the opposite direction. In your case the anitdepressants you are on, you are obviously un happy with them And it will probably take some tweaking of you thyroid med to get the dosage just right.
Avatar f tn I have recently been put n zyprexa and I have found that my appetite has increased and that i am gaining quite a bit of weight. Is it at all possible to lose weight while taking these meds?? And to what degree does this medication affect your mental alertness. I find that I am very slow and find it difficult to do anything in my household work and that my mind tends to be swithced off.
Avatar f tn Being on Pristiq and Zyprexa has kept my depression in check, but I have low energy and no motivation to do anything. Any ideas as to how to get my energy and motivation back?
