zyprexa

148588 tn?1465778809 For example, Gilead’s own Stribild, a costly new four-in-one combo treatment for HIV/AIDS, is $80 per pill. At $1,000 per pill, Sovaldi costs 1,100% more than Stribild, the most-expensive AIDS combo drug on the market. In addition, Gilead is charging a higher price for this drug even though the cost to produce it is small. According to industry reports, Gilead produces Sovaldi for approximately $1.00 per gram (with only 10 to 30 grams needed to successfully treat patients with Hepatitis C).
Avatar f tn I would take a tiny bite out of one pill and be dead to the world within 20 minutes. About three weeks ago I found a website concerning a class action lawsuit against the makers of Serqouel and decided I would stop using same. Now I cannot sleep for nothing. Has this drug messed with my brain chemistry? Is this a drug that should have been tapered, is it addicting? Can you help me? I guess I should add that I'm not on Suboxone anymore, and have NEVER had sleep problems.
Avatar f tn Is there any other meds that have the same ability to control the reasons that zyprexa is prescribed for as it is very expensive and I am afraid it could cause a patient to discontinue taking it.
5790942 tn?1374334321 There is no magic pill or cure for w/ds unfortunately and sometimes, people make choices to take medications that can cause other problems (like Oxy mentioned) or they take high doses of a medication to stave off w.ds that also cause risks. There are some meds that can help symptomatically treat w/ds that are pretty low risk and non addictive. To look for something to take it away completely though just isn't realistic.
Avatar f tn All antipsychotics CAN make you gain weight, but some are worse than others. Geodon is supposed to be weight neutral, and Abilify mostly weight neutral (won't make you gain or lose). Saphris has gotten a lot of good reviews in the weight department, and I believe Latuda has as well, but these are both still brand only, which might affect insurance coverage (and will affect cost). Unfortunately, there's no way to know for sure if a med will cause you problems without trying it first.
1623698 tn?1299161234 How long does it take and how do I reduce the amount? I've been changed from Zyprexa to Seroquel because my depression came back. Within days I was extremely dizzy and nauseous and I concluded that it was withdrawal from Zyprexa so the Psychiatrist said to go back on it. Two months later, when I was feeling better, we tried it again but the same thing happened. By this time I was being told that I had an inner ear problem or it was caused by the new med.

Avatar f tn I was on trazodone for sleep 400mgs along with other meds. My Psychiatrist, who is new to the pic", prescribed Ambien, the lowest dosage. He disc'd my Trazodone and Wellbutrin, my only two antidepressants and started me on Cymbalta. I am Bipolar with Major depression. For a week I was fine. I awoke on a Sat. morning with exceptionally fast and annoying hand tremors in my left hand. The tremors are not new but were under control.
Avatar f tn Well i'm on a thing called symbyax. Which is basically Zyprexa and prozac in one pill. It has helped me out alot. My moods seem to be balanced out now. But i have gained weight so i don't know if its something that you want to be one. Personally i needed to gain the weight.
Avatar m tn I saw this yesterday, printed it out and have read it several times. And I'll probably have to read it several more before I can completely wrap my head around it. The good news, as I see it, is the clarity it brings to the subject of actual cost of new medications to payers. "The $1000 dollar pill" or the "$1125 pill" has gotten so much play in the media. (Doctors aren't immune to this nor are many who work in the insurance industry.
497950 tn?1255863927 I am bipolar I with mixed episodes. (Also with rapid cycling :) fun stuff...) Has anyone tried any medicines that didn't cause weight gain and didn't cost a fortune. I am on Abilify right now but I am very quickly going to have to change because my insurance isn't that great and it cost me $100. I am on Neurontin and Celexa right now which is great but I can still feel myself going up and down all the time.
Avatar f tn Sorry I don't have Kaiser health insurance, maybe someone else here does, but those prices sound about right. Those are your "co-pay costs", the "actual cost" is thousands of dollars per month as you have heard. I had Blue Cross of California during treatment and my co-pay cost were similar to the prices you quoted.
Avatar n tn Well I can say for myself that I'd be concerned taking more than one anti-psychotic at a time. That's how I developed severe tardive dyskinesia to begin with which the rate of developing it as my psychopharmocologist stated "with typicals 5% per person per year and atypical antipsychotics 2.5% per person per year". Every antipsychotic you are one are atypical antipsychotics but I would see no reason you should be on more than one.
Avatar f tn Everything is relative-- but yes, that is a large dose. Consider that Percocet tablets-- medications used to treat surgical pain in dose ranges of 1-2 every 4 hours-- contain 5-10 mg of oxycodone. You are taking the equivalent of 70 of the 5 mg tabs every day, when the dose after major surgery would be on the order of 5-10 tablets per day. The largest dose I've seen in a patient addicted to oxycodone is about 700 mg per day.
Avatar m tn He went off each pill one week at a time because he gets dangerous withdrawl symptomsms. He is off a pill on friday, saturday and monday. He is still on the 2.5 mg of zyprexa on tuesday, wednesday, thursday and sunday. Which would be the next pill to get off of? The program he is on refuses to take him off the medicine now and he went to the hospital to get off it., Each doctor we see has a total new approach to what he should do. We cannot find a good reliable doctor.
1082697 tn?1260064616 i am taking citalopram and zyprexa for depression. i am on vicodin for shoulder pain. since i have been on the pills i have not needed my pain pillls. i am wondering if anyone has experienced this. did the depression cause my pain? i have not had any bad side affects on the zyprexa. in fact i have so much energy now. i tend to get into deep depression so bad i can hardly get out of bed. i have been taking the zyprexa for about 4 weeks now. the doctor put me on since my citalopram needed a boost.
Avatar f tn i am currently taking 10mg of olanzepine, and 200mg carbemazepine per day for bipolar. i am seeing a new psychiatrist who is strongly suggesting that i stop the olanzepine because i have greatly elevated levels of cholesterol and have gained 50 pounds. (have been on said meds for about 5 years). her 2 suggestions are abilify and ziprasidone--i know nothing about either of these meds and would greatly appreciate any info. and input you may have.
Avatar f tn Also, with the current dosage of Zyprexa, he sleeps at least 10-12 hours per day. Will the same thing happen with Zeldox? Should the dosage be reduced to cut back on the hours spent sleeping? My son is clearly heavily sedated by this med and it doesn't seem right. We will call but there is never a live person answering the phone and the wait for a response is usually very long. It will be six weeks before he can see a psychiatrist here.
Avatar f tn Zyprexa (olanzapine) is an antipsychotic drug. That group of drug if taken for a long time can cause sleep disturbances when You stop it suddenly. 2173547 tn?1337378659 I dont have much of an issue falling asleep, (sometimes i take sleeping pills, other periods i dont) but I wake up around 23 to 28 times per night. Its every night for as long as I can remember. Avatar m tn agitated than it is manic, per se, The Zyprexa works well for this, except for its notorious weight-gain side effects. I just can't handle the weight issues. Does anyone know of a another drug, that perhaps comes in a rapid-release form, that would make sense as a replacement for the Zyprexa? I'd prefer to take something that can be used on the as needed basis. I will ask my doctor, of course, but wanted to see about other people's experiences. Thanks!
