Avatar n tn Zyprexa is a strong anti psychotic which should only be used as one.It should not to be used as a sleeping aid and should only be used under supervision of a Psychiatrist. For sleeping one could use something like Trazodone,Ambien or Rozerem.
1589929 tn?1310066922 m pregnant so I stopped taking it but I was on Zyprexa before I got pregnant and it helped me sleep and I really need something. If anyone has anything to say about Zyprexa and pregnancy I would love to hear it (I'm not taking Zyprexa at the moment.) Thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn It is probably not a good idea to use Zyprexa (which is an antipsychotic) as a sleep aid. Zyprexa can cause both sedation and insomnia. The dose you took is relatively small, but it can still cause side-effects and withdrawal effects. Did your doctor prescribe this to you? If you are having trouble sleeping, there are many other techniques and medications that can be used.
628714 tn?1268238196 Does zyprexa or Zopiclone cause excessive yawying. I have been on both for a while and I have been yawning alot. I do have anxiety. Do these drugs cause excessive yawying?
616450 tn?1228433627 I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.
Avatar n tn When I was in college I had from time to time insomnia problems (2,3 days without sleeping) and a light depression. The doctor recommended zyprexa.Strangely, after taking zyprexa for 1,2 months, I wasn't able to learn anything for school and because of that I had a panic attack - didn't left house for a month - I can't understand how did it happen. So, I've been taking zyprexa for 7 years. I want to quit now but I have little success.
1082697 tn?1260064616 Sounds like that Celexa was pooping out on you and you needed the Zyprexa to jump start it. Same thing has happened to me on more than a few antidepressants. Lithium also makes for a good booster drug, but most people don't try it as an add on because they think it's only for Bi-polar.
Avatar n tn I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. In the past, prior to this medicine, I've always had troubles sleeping. Does anyone else have the same problems as me?
8798274 tn?1399988458 Really, there was a change on my brain after stopping Zyprexa. It is hard to explain or describe. Imagine that you wake up in the morning full of energy and you keep that way for ever. It is like something in the brain was permanently turned ON. I have checked journals and a lot of websites looking for answers and help. There are a lot of people with chronic insomnia and the common factor is Zyprexa withdrawal. Must be an explanation for that. I am thinking to report my case to FDA.
739988 tn?1386672969 Try 6 small meals a day with a protien and carb in small portions. I take ayprexa and I have lost 46 pounds and I am not diabetic I love my zyprexa and I am not going to give it up. I did gain weight at first on it but I have since lost the weight. It is possible to keep the weight off on zyprexa.
Avatar f tn My son, 21, has been on Zyprexa for 6 months after presenting with a psychotic episode. His psychiatrist recommended a switch from Zyprexa to Zeldox fearing the deveopment of metabolic syndrome. He has now moved and is looking for a new psychiatrist which will take some time before the first appointment. What dosage of Zeldox would be equivalent to 10 mg daily of Zyprexa? What side effects can be expected during the switch from Zyprexa to Zeldox?
Avatar f tn As Your body is use to this medication and the Zyprexa has the effect of making You feel drowsy and in a daze Your body can become dependant on it given over a certain amount of time. I wish You the best of luck feel free to message me if You need to.
Avatar n tn My 15 yr. old daughter has been on Prozac since the end of December '08. At first it was for depression then after a month or so the Dr. thought she maybe Bipolar weened her off Prozac and put her on Abilify. Total disaster very bad reation after only 1 day. Stopped that went back to prozac for the last 1 1/2 months or so. She has just started showing strong signs again of manic and obsesive behavior. Dr.s thinking prozac has backfired.
Avatar f tn My neighbor takes Zyprexa, and another anti-anxiety, along with an antidepressant and several other meds for body health problems. It seems to me ,as I visit with her most afternoons, that Z, which she has been on since being released from a hospital years ago, is probably the most helpful with sleep. She will be taking it for the rest of her life. Only alternative to being put in facility. Guess what you are experiencing is body getting used to you not taking.
Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
Avatar m tn i also take zyrtec about 6 hours before my meds,i take my meds 3 hours before sleeping and i take zyrtec with gnc mega men vitamin and mineral...
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
Avatar m tn hi...i've since taken my self off of geodon. as a refresher i was taking 120mg and dropped down to 60 mg for a week. i've read lots of exteme withdrawal symptoms but in the 3 days i've been off i'm not experiencing anything. i'm thinking it's going to take about 2 weeks for my brain to adjust without any geodon and another 2 weeks to hopefully see if my sleep returns. would that be a good time frame to expect a change?

Avatar f tn My dd is 17, was on Zyprexa for years (like 7 or 8 years) along with lithium carb and others than changed as time went on. She was mostly fine on it until 2 years ago when she started to gain weight. I had noticed cognitive dulling, she has struggled in school quite a bit, after being a straight A student for the first four years of her schooling. We tried to get her off of it last year and it was a huge fiasco, she was a wreck for 2-3 months, alternately sobbed and screamed and rarely slept.
Avatar n tn It is supposed to be worse after long night without sinemet (requip 0.125 is given every other night and no significant distinguish between with and without it) Sinemet suppose to make motion better and it DID make her better before. Or Dyskinesia completely overridden others (but the Dyskinesia is happened in the jaw/tongue and I don't see any tremor in legs/feet) I tried to find a logic explanation, but no luck! Can this imply sinemet is no good for her anymore?
Avatar f tn I took Atenolol and down went my BP. I felt terribly weak and awful and could not stay awake. I went to the pharmacy who took my BP for free and found it very low. Doctor halved my medication.
Avatar f tn Hi, Im on zyprexa olanzapine 5mg, and when I first went on them It would make me very drowsy and pretty much knock me out a few hours after taking them! this caused problems at first as if I took them too late and then went to sleep before they kicked in, I would sleep right through my alarm, I quickly adopted what time I should take them and stuck at about 7pm to get to sleep for 11pm - 12am.
Avatar m tn Olimelt is the generic of Zyprexa which is used to treat anxiety and depression and also works on controlling neurotransmitters in the brain. A lot of medications that work for OCD are antidepressants. Sometimes doctors will prescribe a regimen of medications to see how you are doing. If you have been on them for a while, say about 4 weeks, and you are still having unwanted side effects then you should discuss with your doctor.
Avatar f tn t bother her so much when she was really manic but now that she is in a depressed state it seems to be make the depression that much worse. And it ***** for her because she is 15 it is hard enough to try and act normal when your 15 and not bipolar.
Avatar m tn Hi I would like to know if after three years of taking low doses of sertraline 25 mg and 2.5 mg of Zyprexa the nausea and dizziness I feel can be due to the discontinuation of the meds. I was prescribed due to a depresion an chronic anxiety conduct. I also experience a bbit of tingling in my hands and feet that goes on and off switching around.
