zyprexa and ocd

Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.

t respond to OTC medicine. I am on 40mg Prozac, 1200mg lithium, and my doctor just put me on 5mg Zyprexa because I am scared and isolating at my job. I guess I just want to know if this med combination makes sense. I also am concerned about the headaches and the constant drowsiness I feel. I told the doctor, but there was no apparent concern about these symptoms. She wants to target the severe anxiety I'm experiencing. I feel like my whole life is haunted.

We successfully got him off of the Zoloft, and have gotten him down to 3.75mg of Zyprexa, 50mg Vistiril, and have not started taking him off of the Clonidine (he takes this at night to help him sleep). He is having a very hard time with withdrawls from the Zyprexa, and I am concerned that he could have severe reactions if we take him off to fast. He started off taking 7.5 mg 4 times a day. We got him down to 7.5 once a day fairly easy, but when we tried to go down to the 3.

My negative thinking from OCD has made me believe I am a bad person, and that when I die I'll go to hell. Are these thinking's involuntary? Like take for instance if something catastrophic happen in the word whether it be here or in another country I sometimes feel happy or excited or glad....WHAT IS THAT? I'm really scared. Why are my emotions the total opposite that they should be?

Try 6 small meals a day with a protien and carb in small portions. I take ayprexa and I have lost 46 pounds and I am not diabetic I love my zyprexa and I am not going to give it up. I did gain weight at first on it but I have since lost the weight. It is possible to keep the weight off on zyprexa.

My son for the time, seems to be doing alot better, he is off lithium and he is only on zyprexa 2.5 twice a week. Eventually he will go off of that too because he also said it didn't help his depression. Teenagers have problems and really can benefit from a very good therapist who really knows your child. But they really have to know them before they put them on medication from my point of view.

I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.

Is there anyone who got off Zyprexa and with Natural medication getting this Zyprexa and left on Natural medication and then off Natural medication.And felt alot better no symptoms of bipolar or Pschysoaffective?

When I had episode 3 ,I thought I had found the lord and I was healed of bi polar and didnt need to take my meds anymore so episode 3 happened and I was back in the hospital back with the same pdoc and he put me back on the zyprexa,celexa, as well as tegretol. I then went back to the pdoc I found after episode2 I told I didnt think I needed the tegretol any more but we decided to stay on the celexa,zyprexa combo and it works great. I know that is confusing .

I got out of the hospital almost 3 weeks ago with 3 NEW diagnoses in addition to Bipolar I, they are: psychosis, OCD & anxiety. I looked up OCD & anxiety & have none of the symptoms! I was psychotic because of a combination of medications that didn't mix well. I tried to find a 2nd opinion but no one will see me for one. I requested my medical records but don't have them yet.

Hi I would like to know if after three years of taking low doses of sertraline 25 mg and 2.5 mg of Zyprexa the nausea and dizziness I feel can be due to the discontinuation of the meds. I was prescribed due to a depresion an chronic anxiety conduct. I also experience a bbit of tingling in my hands and feet that goes on and off switching around.

Sounds like that Celexa was pooping out on you and you needed the Zyprexa to jump start it. Same thing has happened to me on more than a few antidepressants. Lithium also makes for a good booster drug, but most people don't try it as an add on because they think it's only for Bi-polar.

However what you are describing is unusual and potentially of concern so it would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist and they can see whether the Zyprexa is just not treating what it was prescribed for yet as it was just started or if it is worsening things and what the specific cause of the insomnia is as that can be treated as well. Also keep a mood tracker and sleep tracker and see how things are on a daily basis and how they change and print out the results for your psychiatrist.

It has been 4 weeks since I took my last pill and have not slept very much at all and feel alot of anxiety and feel like I have bugs under my skin and have no appetite. I find it very diffifuclt to make it through the day at work and my mind is mush. I was told to take 5-htp and would make a big difference. I don't know if it is related to withdrawals or the 5-htp but I really couldn't sleep when I took that, which makes no sense since people take it to help insomnia.

I took Ativan and Zyprexa together along with Lexapro with no problems other than being a zombie and fattening up my body to 116lbs--which is half of my two pregnancy weights. So--I got off the Zyprexa and now take Lexapro and Ativan (2mg) as needed. I really hated Zyprexa--it made me have a Turtle Brain....

I am on 75mg of methadone and i have been put on 15mg of Zyprexa. It is working great for my mental issues but i missed a doctors appt and ran out. I have been off of Zyprexa for 9 days now and was on it for 47 days only. The past 6 days i have been feeling withdraw symptoms. Shacks, stomach cramps, cold chills, muscle tightness, teeth clinching almost like it put me into methadone withdraws! I am sure thats not it, but i am worried.

Hello, I took zyprexa (antipsychotic) for 4 years and have taken cymbalta (antidepressant) for 5 years. I gained a lot of weight (50lbs), and started to have insulin resistance problems and high glucose levels. I was put on metformin 500mg once a day for a year. I was told that if I lost the weight my numbers would go back to normal. I lost 40lbs, I am exercising and eating healthy. My doctor told me that I could quit metformin.

There are some considerations when on Zyprexa, you will have to have occasional blood work done, as Zyprexa can cause high blood sugar, increased cholesterol and lipids. If you are at increased risk for heart disease, there may be some risks that you would want to talk to your doctor about.

Hi, I am experiencing burning feet,skin sensitivity and pains in my hands and feet during Zyprexa withdrawal,I`ve been on Zyprexa for 6 years and off it for about 5 months now.Please let me know if the burning feet and all other symptoms will go away with time? Has anyone quit Zyprexa successfully? Please help with any information,many thanks!!

my son spiraled badly 3 wks ago and was put on zyprexa(now 10mg) and valporate(1000mg) the first week he was full of anxiety...couldn't settle, just paced the floor yet he was depressed and cried alot too. was told this was a mixed state of BP. the second-part of 3rd week he stabilized but in an extreme depression....so low he could barely get dressed or eat, but he pushed himself and even worked. Now a little into the 3rd week he is still depressed although not as bad...

placed me on Abilify and my heart palpitation was so severe that I had to go back on Zyprexa. I am taking 1.5 mg of kolonopin for anxiety and 2.5 mg of zyprexa now.Tried to cut out the medication completely but my simptoms returned so I can't do without any medication. Are there any other medication in the market that is similar to Zyprexa that would not effect my liver enzyme? Used Efexor but had heart palpitation.

I started taking Zyprexa about 2 weeks ago and since then I have askasthia, which is the worst possible effect I have ever had. I can't sit still, I pace a lot, I am so tired and my eyes want to shut but the rest of my body cannot sit still. I have confronted the pshychiatrist 2 and both times he left me with it and first he gave me a drug that is supposed to help with askasthia, cogentin. Still didn't work.

I'm bp, been on Zyprexa for 5 yrs off and on, gained weight of course, and know that it has tons of other side effects. But I know Depakote is not without side effects either -- like constipation, liver damager etc. What's worse? Plus, I know it causes weight gain also. What do you guys think? Thanks!

My doc told me to take zantac half hour befroe eating and this will supressthe appetite. and whadda ya know it WORKS!!lol I have been on zyprexa for 7 years and it has been my miracle but I did gain weight and on top that I was hypothryoid. Now I am on synthroid9 thryoidectomy sept 06 and my metabolism is working again I have lost from 225 to 198. so it is possible tyo loose weight while on zyprexa. we just have to work a liitle harder at it.
