zyprexa and ativan

I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?

The doctor just started my Mom on Zyprexa 5 MG today, she has Alzheimers and is taking Tradazone and Buspirone . An hour after taking the Zyprexa she was confused and thought my nephew was her child.She is 80 and lives alone,My sister her main caregiver lives next door and takes care of her meds and food, We are afraid she will not sleep with this new med.and wander outside.any thoughts from anyone..

I used Buspar 10 years ago and got off ativan and my anxiety went away. I was on Zyprexa at the beginning and yes it caused a big weight gain. I have been on Ativan for a year and a half. My history is long and I think I posted it a couple of times on this site and on the fibromyalgia site. Been through a lot, am tapering slowly off the Ativan but am exchanging to Valium to make the process slower.

I started taking Zyprexa about 2 weeks ago and since then I have askasthia, which is the worst possible effect I have ever had. I can't sit still, I pace a lot, I am so tired and my eyes want to shut but the rest of my body cannot sit still. I have confronted the pshychiatrist 2 and both times he left me with it and first he gave me a drug that is supposed to help with askasthia, cogentin. Still didn't work.

My mother has had a history of depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder. I don't think she's ever truly been "treated" for this things, except for being prescribed meds. In the past few months, she's been out of work and I've been around more often and witness her in a stupor state some days, a really bad state. I started monitoring her consumption of these pills and she'll take twice or three times the recommended dosage.

Anyhow, onto my question... In addition to depression, I struggle with anxiety and take 1 mg Ativan as needed, up to 3x/day. The Ativan helps with the anxiety but I've noticed if I have to take it for a few days in a row it really seems to affect my mood, in that I often feel even more depressed than I did before taking it.

Hi I stopped the ativan and zyprexa on tuesday....would it be out of my system by now...I have a toothache and treid tylonol and it did nothing so i took and asprin..i read where asprin and prozac dont reaaly go well together and im also worried about if the zyprexa is still in me...dont know if asprin interacts with zypprexa....is it normal to feel a bit down as im getting used to the new meds?

before that i had been on ativan since may 09,,and in jan a dr tried me on lithium depakote and zyprexa all during the month of jan....the last one i was on was zyprexa and stopped it march 2 after only being on it about 2 weeks....im feeling more active than i had been on the prozac but abit more sadness for some reason so dr is upping it to 40 mg////i cnat take it in the am as most people do as it makes me so drowsy....

I am on Zyprexa, Prozac, lorazepam, lunesta and trazadone. I have taken lorazepam for 9 years 1-1.5 mg prn. Dr tries to wean me down but I get sleep deprived the go into full blown mania so he then restarts it. Is it possible weaning off benzos causes mania or is this part of my disorder?

im on ativan-0.5 to 1 mg,procyclidine-2.5mg,zyprexa-5mg and paxil 10to 20 mg for the last 5,6 years...i am 21,male...i do remember things but forget alot of things i want to remember too,like i watched a movie and i dont remember the scenes,just the outline of the movie,i watched a soccer game,next week ill almost forget it,my brother remembers everything about the game...

I'm withdrawing from Zyprexa, Abilify, Ativan and sertraline. It's been three weeks and I've had terrible nausea, stomach pain, fatigue, and generally not feeling good. How long will this last? And, any ideas on how to deal with mania since I can't just "knock myself out" like usual? I need to get enough sleep to stay out of the hospital!

If given a choice between an antipsychotic (Zyprexa) and a mood stabilizer (Depakoate) I would choose Depakoate. Zyprexa does have the risk of tardive dyskinesia. If a person needs an antipsychotic of course they have to take one but Depakoate does not have that risk. Zyprexa also has a severe risk for diabetes. All of the atypicals do but Zyprexa is most likely to.

Try 6 small meals a day with a protien and carb in small portions. I take ayprexa and I have lost 46 pounds and I am not diabetic I love my zyprexa and I am not going to give it up. I did gain weight at first on it but I have since lost the weight. It is possible to keep the weight off on zyprexa.

I was back in the hospital a few months after first being prescribed this, along with seroquel and ativan for panic and anxiety. That's not what makes this medicine so undesirable though. With each dose increase, I had numbness in my legs and arms. This could continue for as long as 2 weeks after a dose increase. The reason for the weight loss is because I just wouldn't eat. Nothing sounded good, nothing tasted good, and I felt just generally unwell.

First zyprexa doesnt cause diabetes . the weight gain does . and it is possible to control your weight while on zyprexa. I have been on it for 7 years and at first I did gain gain weight but I have since lost all that I have gained on the zyprexa eat small 6 meals a day and exercise even if its just a brisk 30 minute walk. It will also help with the depression. No caffiene and no sugar as these both aggravate depression in bi polars.

I currently take 30 mg. of zyprexa,. 1500 mg. depakote, 2 mg. benztropine, 50 mg. of risperdone, and 50 mg. testim . I have gained 70 pounds of fat. When I'm not in a mania I sleep from the zyprexa for 12 hours a night. My anxiety is so high and from all of the side affects, just to name a few I have had diarrhea for the last three years, retrograde ejaculation, weight gain, restless legs syndrome.

I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

Hey all, new to this page. I've written in the alcoholism part before. Anyway, I've recently been diagnosed with bipolar 2 which I've assumed for years! I'm on abilify, lamictal, celexa, and ativan. I'm constantly fidgety and results, and can't concentrate on anything at all right now! There's more too but those are the most annoying right now. Am I still manic or is this side effects from my medication? Any advice would be helpful.

Im on the 4 mg per my previous dr,the quack im seeing now still thinks im on the zyprexa,he messed me up by stopping the depakote cold turkey then trying to put me on lithium,,,,,maybe you havent read my posts on zyprexa and what all i have been thru in a months time...i went from functioning to non functioning...

Hi I would like to know if after three years of taking low doses of sertraline 25 mg and 2.5 mg of Zyprexa the nausea and dizziness I feel can be due to the discontinuation of the meds. I was prescribed due to a depresion an chronic anxiety conduct. I also experience a bbit of tingling in my hands and feet that goes on and off switching around.

Sounds like that Celexa was pooping out on you and you needed the Zyprexa to jump start it. Same thing has happened to me on more than a few antidepressants. Lithium also makes for a good booster drug, but most people don't try it as an add on because they think it's only for Bi-polar.

However what you are describing is unusual and potentially of concern so it would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist and they can see whether the Zyprexa is just not treating what it was prescribed for yet as it was just started or if it is worsening things and what the specific cause of the insomnia is as that can be treated as well. Also keep a mood tracker and sleep tracker and see how things are on a daily basis and how they change and print out the results for your psychiatrist.

I take zyprexa and celexa and I have been stable for 7 years on this combo and the therapy is priceless. It gives you the tools to understand the illnes and deal with it. and definaltly get you thryoid checked as a malfunctioning thryoid will present itself as mental illness. ask for the full panel tests inclucding TSH t3 t4 and antibodies. Let meknow what you find out.I hope and pray things straigtenout for you. try the healthy changes they help alot and cut down the need for so much meds.

It has been 4 weeks since I took my last pill and have not slept very much at all and feel alot of anxiety and feel like I have bugs under my skin and have no appetite. I find it very diffifuclt to make it through the day at work and my mind is mush. I was told to take 5-htp and would make a big difference. I don't know if it is related to withdrawals or the 5-htp but I really couldn't sleep when I took that, which makes no sense since people take it to help insomnia.

I am on 75mg of methadone and i have been put on 15mg of Zyprexa. It is working great for my mental issues but i missed a doctors appt and ran out. I have been off of Zyprexa for 9 days now and was on it for 47 days only. The past 6 days i have been feeling withdraw symptoms. Shacks, stomach cramps, cold chills, muscle tightness, teeth clinching almost like it put me into methadone withdraws! I am sure thats not it, but i am worried.
