Avatar f tn To continue or not to continue ? I've been using Zymar for 12 days and the eye infection (mucus film and pink eye) is not completely gone. I was supposed to be completely recovered in 5 days. After 12 days, my eye is about 95% healed. Since " . . . prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi.", I would like to know if I should continue for a few more days or stop now.
Avatar m tn Thanks. Now after cataract surgery (left eye) we are given below drops. Zymar 4 times a day for 1 week. Pred Forte 4 times a day for first 3 weeks, 3 times a day next 1 week, 2 times a day for next 1 week, 1 time a day next 1 week. Megabrom 2 times a day for 4 weeks. Megabrom when applied gives prickling/slight burning sensation is it normal? Can Megabrom dose be reduced to 2 weeks. Wondering combination of steroidal and non-steroidal drops.
Avatar f tn Bandage lens placed on eye with one week follow up to remove lens. Used Zymar drops 1 x day while bandage on. Told 4-6 wk. heal time. I am at the 4 wk. mark. I have scratchy, gritty, irritated, burning eyes. Called opthamologist several times w/same response of give it time. Using eye drops several times and hour still and pm ointment. GP is ruling out Sjogrens syndrome with bloodwork.
Avatar n tn I'm scheduled for cataract surgery on Wednesday. I started the prescription drops (Zymar and Xibrom) on Sunday morning as directed. I've had some peculiar symptoms and wondering if they are drug related. Sunday morning, a few hours after both drops, I sat down to read the paper (next to a bright light) and started feeling very hot. The left (cataract and light) side of my face felt a little numb, with some prickly feeling. I also felt very flushed....weak and faint feeling.
Avatar n tn My doctor gave me prescriptions for Zymar (0.3%), to be used 4X daily for 3 days AND Xibrom (0.09%), 2 X daily for 3 days prior to surgery. After looking on the RXlist medication information site, it says that Xibrom should be used only 24 hours prior to cataract surgery. Any longer could cause corneal adverse events......what kind of events? I'm really nervous about surgery and am beginning to question if I want to go through with it at this time.....What are preferred anesthesias?

Avatar n tn My surgeon has prescribed 4 drops of Pred Forte per day for 6 weeks tapering off for 2 weeks following cataract surgery on both eyes. I've read that PF actually delays healing in these cases. I had to use Prednisone for months for an unrelated problem and suffered all the usual side affects - moon face, obese trunk, etc. Do I really need to take Pred Forte for so long? I'm also using Zymar (for ten days) and Xibrom (for 8 weeks) in each eye.
Avatar f tn Just drops that do not effect baby. No worries. Worked my way through college for an eye Dr (my dad) lol. Depending on how bad it is could clear up in a few days to a few weeks. It's highly contagious so always wash your hands and try not to touch your face.
Avatar f tn There is no 'typical' clearing of conjunctivitis ('pink eye is not a medical diagnosis and many things can make an eye pink). It's just like trying to predict how long a cold will last. If it doesn't respond quickly: it may not be conjunctivitis, if its bacterial it may not be susceptible to the antibiotic and often its a virus and antibiotics don't kill virus (like they don't help viral colds).
Avatar m tn Welcome to our Forum. I can understand how after being in the strip club you might be concerned that you somehow picked up an STD through contact with a dancer but it is most unlikely. Let me outline some of the reasons that I say this: 1. Chlamydia is simply not effectively transmitted from one person to another on contaminated fingers. If it were we would see genital infections as well as eye infections arising this way and we do not. 2.
Avatar f tn This is my personal opinion and its that family MDs should not put people on steroid eye drops because they can't examine the eye with a biomicroscope (slit lamp) or take the intraocular pressure and are generally unaware of conditions that contraindicate using steroid like H. Simplex. Plus your optometrist already used "anti-inflammatory" which usually means steroids.
Avatar f tn it is best to be seen by a doctor, but Simialson makes pink eye relief eye drops, I have pink eye a lot, and they work sometimes, sometimes they work just enough to give me a little relief until I can see the doctor....but with any kind of eye problems its best to see a doctor..I am a walking testimony..I kept getting what I thought was pinkeye, so I kept being treated for pinkeye.
Avatar m tn I just had eye surgery. Doctor prescribed 3 different eye drop medicines for a week. Can anyone tell me what each are for? A friend told me some were dangerous to my eye? Is this true?
Avatar f tn I went to a physician and was given a prescription of eye drops for pink eye. It has already been about four and a half days that I have been taking them and I don't see or feel any improvement. I have also avoided any places with bright lights and haven't touched my TV, computer, or any electronics untill now. With my finals this week, I am worried that I may be kicked out of school because of my eyes and I may miss my finals.
Avatar f tn I first started with a stye in my eye, then once it went away, I got my first pink eye about 6 years ago. After that I would get it about once every 2 months or so. The doctor said that it was due to my eye glands producing too much oil. He gave me pills that reduced the produccion of oil and it help. I live in las Vegas for a year. That whole year I had no problems. Once I moved back to where I lived orifinaly the problem came back. Not to mention my seasonal allergies.
Avatar n tn You have a serious problem that can cause permanent damage to the eye and in the worst case loss of eye. It may take longer than a week to clear up. use the medicine drops exactly as prescribed. Deal with the sensitivity to light with a hat and sunglasses. You can even get sun goggles like people wear after cataract surgery that block from the side and top. Ask the ophthalmologist about them tomorrow. DO NOT WEAR YOUR OTHER CONTACT LENS.
Avatar n tn He has had it once in the past and the doctor prescribed him antibiotic eye drops, this time however he has prescribed just regular over the counter eye drops. Will his pink eye go away with just the regular drops or will he eventually need the other drops? He is also on an antibiotic for an ear infection, not sure if this is why he wasn't prescribed the antibiotic eye drops. Thank you!
Avatar n tn After two weeks I went to the doctors and they told me I had bacterial pink eye and gave me eye drops (3 drops a day for 7 days). It's been over a week since the eye drops and still my eyes are very wet (but don't really drip) and water seems to just build up for some reason. Sometimes theres a lot of liquid in my eye to the point that things look blurry. I went back to the doctor today and now he has me trying allergy eye drops. What do you guys think?
Avatar f tn The next day, my eyes were almost the same except with added infections of drainage and unbelievable swelling to the extent that my eyesight was blurry and almost unbearable. I went to a physician and was prescribed some eye drops for pink eye but it has already been about four and a half days and I don't see or feel any improvement. I have also avoided any places with bright lights and haven't touched my TV, computer, or any electronics untill now.
1428481 tn?1340593131 Although it certainly sounds like pink eye, other infections or issues are possible, and drops not intended for your child could do more harm then good. All the best.
