Avatar m tn You do not need to taper Zopiclone. You can take it as needed whenever you want. You can stop it it without adverse consequences (other than insomnia, of course). I do encourage you to continue your gabapentin, however. It is a very helpful medication for a few months after the withdrawal of opiates. Good for you for quitting. Stay strong!

Avatar f tn Yesterday I came to a spiritual conversion and realized I don`t have to be and should not be addicted to anything intoxicating and decided to quit cold turkey- if there are a few sleepless nights, so be it. I actually did get some sleep last night (I took melatonin, don`t know if that helped) but now I`m reading about tapering of benzos, long lasting withdrawal etc. So, what kind of effects should I expect?
Avatar f tn s important to have a good taper plan. Some doctors still seem to think it can be stopped cold turkey but if necessary you can refer your md to Dr Ashton's site which has a tested schedule for zopiclone tapering with minimal withdrawals:- http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/bzsched.
Avatar m tn Actually, it's not a good idea to quit zopiclone cold turkey as it acts in a similar manner to a benzo & quitting CT from a year's use at a high dose could risk seizures & will probably be pretty uncomfortable. Quitin is right about the risk of continuing to take these drugs. In combination at these doses, there is a strong risk of respiratory depression, i.e. you may stop breathing, as happened to Heath Ledger, among others.
Avatar m tn I quit drinking cold turkey after a health scare. I drank very heavily for 10 years, and I do mean very heavily. I did not have the first problem. I don't crave or miss it. I sleep better than I ever have and feel better than I ever have. Is this normal or lucky?

I tryed cold turkey and was seeign things that were not there I have headacks from this medication insomnia and very painful pains in my neck and body, I am tired literally and can no seem to sleep enough. Avatar f tn I know quite a bit about butalbital withdrawal. I know it's dangerous to stop cold turkey due to the seizure risk. You've been off for 8 days so you may be beyond a risk now. Rebound headache is a major symptom, along with anxiety. That's why I asked you about Xanax. That would help the anxiety and cover any risk of seizure.
Avatar f tn I tried tapering and was in withdrawal the whole time. Has anyone gone cold turkey and have advice to get through. I feel like I would rather bite the bullet than spread it out over time.
Avatar m tn How effective is Zopiclone as a sleeping aid?Is it effective?.
Avatar m tn She has been taking Xanax for years. Her neurologist has told us to stop all narcotics-cold turkey. Is this right? She is going through hell right now. It's been 2 weeks. How long do the withdrawls last?
Avatar f tn I am totally available to talk with you if your wanting to get off of the subs. I cold turkey quit Jan 1st 2014 off of a 24mg a day suboxone habit. I was taking them for 7 years. Please let us know your still with us and we can tell you anything you may want to know.
Avatar f tn I am on day 9 of my cold turkey detox from zopiclone, I think I have turned the corner and hopefully things are on the way up.I now only feel slight muscle tightness and ache, slight headache and mild nervousness.I cant deny it has been horrible but I think I've done it.Any suggestions or words of wisdom.
Avatar n tn The question for the poster is, has this been continuous from when you stopped the Paxil (and why, after all this time and litigation would anyone cold turkey off Paxil?). If so, then yes, you're still in withdrawal. You, too, should then research Protracted Withdrawal Syndrome and then ask yourself why at this late date in the very tragic Paxil story you went off it cold turkey. Even tapering off this drug can cause problems.
1746872 tn?1311549056 ve talked about the standard treatment options here many times-- but with your high dose of morphine, it is unlikely that you will maintain motivation long enough to get all the way through a taper or a cold turkey withdrawal. You can try... but if it doesn't work, get to an addiction doc, and either go to detox or get on buprenorphine, or even methadone.
Avatar f tn i looked this up on your sight and seen from other people that i wasnt alone, so i went to my gp and they advised i stopped them either by cutting down or cold turkey.
Avatar n tn dose every other day for about a month and then when I ran out of the pills in the bottle just stopped cold turkey! That was about 13 days ago and since then I have slipped into a HELL of depression, crying, inability to function normally and about a million other symptoms of misc variety. I need to know that this will pass, and that soon I will be a normal human being again. How long does it take? I feel like I am watching my life crumble before my eyes and am unable to stop the devastation!
Avatar f tn I've been taking hydrocodone/methadone combo on/off for almost 6 years. Lately, I've cut the methadone out completely. It's been a month since I've taken any. I've still been taking at least 10 mg; at most 30-40 mg of hydrocodone a day for the past month if not 2 months, I can't remember. I have started attending NA meetings and I want to quit completely. In patient rehab isn't an option bc I have a great job and don't want to lose it.
