While light sensitivity can be reduced by avoiding sunlight, closing the eyes, wearing dark glasses, or darkening the room, the cause for the light sensitivity should be determined. Migraine headaches respond well to both abortive and preventive medications. Imaging modalities such as CTscan may help determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.

It seems to help my neck thus helping reduce the severity of my headaches. Last summer I wore a clavical support for two weeks which I purchased myself as an experimental treatment and the headaches were greatly reduced, but again my Dr.s believed it had nothing to do with my headaches and that I am suffering from common daily migraine.

All tests came back normal. The Maxalt worked well when I got the migraines but insurance wasn't too happy with it so we had to switch. She then put me on Relpax which didn't work at all.

I have been having bouts of double vision for the past year. I have been screened for MS and a brain tumor. Doctor's stuck. Has anyone had a problem with this, too. I used to have migranes years ago, but my aura was a different kind of visual disturbance. I don't get very bad headaches with these episodes but my head starts to hurt some of the time. Thanks.

Hello and thanks in advance for any thoughts. Our 5 y.o. Basset/Beagle mix was officially pegged with epilepsy about 2 months ago after she started having multiple seizures in a day. She was initially put on Zonisamide but after 2 weeks, she had a couple more seizures. At that point the docs added Phenobarbital. We've had her blood tested and the PB is at the proper levels in her system. The good news is she's not had any seizures since then...

( Does anyone think the mgs of Zonisamide are to high for being on it for the first time? It has been since 3/24 when she had the 4 seizures, and hasn't had any since she has been on the medicine, but won't eat at all on her own, and when she does it is only a bite or two and then gets sick again. Please help if you can.

t find a workable dosage of phenobartibal, you might want to ask your vet about either Dilantin, Valium, potassium bromide, felbamate, or a different type of anti-seizure medicine that can be used in conjunction with potassium bromide and/or phenobarbital together called Zonisamide. Zonisamide is totally unrelated to any of the other anticonvulsants, but, like Keppra, the full extent of its side effects is not yet known so to some vets, it is somewhat controversial to prescribe it.

I have a 1 year 4 month old German Shepherd named Melo who's been having seizures since he was 1. I just wanted to share my experience because I know its comforting to hear stories of other people that are going through what you're going through, makes you feel less hopeless. Melo had 4 seizures in the span of 2 hours, he's taking 300mg of Zonisamide every 12 hours but before take refill arrived he had ran out and that's when the seizures happened.

They will last between 2 to 8 weeks, so you may need to be prepared for some odd behaviour for a while. The drunk-like state needs careful supervision, particularly on the stairs, as her coordination is severely impaired and will be so for a while. Once the "therapeutic level" of phenobarbital has been found (it's a bit trial and error), the side effects should start to dissipate. Of course, the question is why did the seizures begin?

It seemed the Lyrica and Effexor combined worked for the pain, I went to a neurologist and he took me off the Lyrica, which made me gain 60lbs! lol... and put me on Zonisamide. It has been great for my pain. But now that aI have been on it awhile I am feeling sick to my stomach every morning and my head feels fuzzy. I asked if I could get off the Effexor as it was raising my blood sugar levels, I am a diabetic & Cymbalta and Effexor raises my blood sugars).

Also on Vitamin D as we speak for a deficiency. What more could be done for nerve compression if this is the main contributing factor. Ice to the neck and muscle relaxers are my only relief at the moment. Is there further testing that might be warranted? Thanks again!

I was put on topomax for complex migranes about 7 months ago and they put me on 100 mg 50mg in the morning and 50mg at night and friday of last week they upped my dose to 200 mg because my migranes were getting worse. Today all of a sudden I am itching everywhere and its been a constant thing all day and it wont stop ! no rashes though weird but I am wondering if its the meds. But I am also on lamictal as well so is anyone else having these problems ?

Mu doctor who is an Neurologist gave me some medicines for these types of headaches. They seem to take the edge off, but never go away.I have been in my bed or on my couch since Tuesday the 15, on my back, because it hurts too much to get up for any length of time. Today is Sunday 07/20/08 and I still have the headaches when I stand up or sit up. They are not as bad, but I think since I have had so much medicine that I have numb my senses to the pain.

Hello, I am a 25 year old male, 5’11, 190 pounds and have been having a lot of pressure in my head and ears headaches and feel off balance, I wake up frequently during the night this has been going on for years now ( headaches are not chronic but they can get very excruciating), also what seems like simple partial seizures, I had an MRI of the brain which showed a 13 mm pineal cyst and also a smaller cyst.

Every dog is different and you have to try a lot of anti seizure medications to find the right one, for my dog its zonisamide. I would just be patient with him, the medications confuse him and he's also restless because he's scared another seizures will happen in any moment.

Two days ago I went to my first NL appt and he wasnt very nice IDK if it was he was being sarcastic a jerk or if that was just his tone of voice due to his accent. He took one look at my MRI's and couldnt figure out what a spot in the middle of what seemed to be my spinal cord was he keept asking "what is this? what is this?" then he would change the view and ask "what is this?"..... sent me to get a brain MIR and an other C-spine and some blood work I AM FREAKING OUT!

His latest blood test was 26 for pheno. We increased his pheno to the current does previously stated about 1 month ago. Over the weekend, he had cluster seizures. We didn't take him to the vet immediately since the other times, we've given him 1 gr of pheno after and within a day, he gets better. This time his seizures were at night at least 3-4 times. We brought him to the emergency room Sunday afternoon where they administered valium.
