Zomig nasal spray for migraines

Common Questions and Answers about Zomig nasal spray for migraines

zomig

Avatar m tn t want to have to give yourself an injection! and zomig nasal spray works great!! try zomig nasal spray or imitrex nasal spray first before injections... injections can cause skin irritation and stuff, it should be a last resort!
768044 tn?1294223436 Mostly I stick with my Zomig and for the majority of my migraines and the Zomig works. It tends to only be the migraines that wake me up that the zomig just won't work for. Or, sometimes if a migraine comes back on the same day, a second dose of zomig won't work to get rid of it either and it will be much more severe when it comes back. Although, really, over-all, the zomig works the majority of the time.
86075 tn?1238115091 it comes in a pill or nasal spray. if you can deal with nasal spray use it. it works really fast i just cant spray anything up my nose! haha one time was all i could handle. i take maxalt. for me it works the fastest. your dr. will probably give you several diff. kinds of samples and have you see which works best on you.
Avatar n tn I use zomig nasal spray for my migraines and one of the side effects is nose bleeds in the side that you spray the medicine in. Probably not what's going on in your case... but since you get migraines, just thought I'd throw that out there just in case!
1102283 tn?1257817472 Anyway, because of superior bioavailability of the more expensive triptans is why I suggest getting the back up prescriptions for the Zomig Nasal Spray and the Maxalt-MLTs just in case the generic Sumatriptan tablets do not work for you. But, for cost reasons, fill the generic Sumatriptan tablet prescription first! (as long as the doctor at the clinic agrees) And, try to get samples of what ever triptans the clinic has to hand out if possible, regardless of the brand..
1125820 tn?1265284446 t tried the Zomig Nasal Spray yet, then I highly recommend Zomig Nasal Spray. The bioavailability of Zomig Nasal Spray is even better than Zomig by IV... so it is also much better than Zomig tablets or Zomig rapid melts. Statistically, according to trial results, Zomig Nasal Spray is one of the best triptans. I also don't think you mentioned any antiemetics. I think it would be really worth it talking to your doctor about Metoclopramide.
521800 tn?1212329682 Thank you for your response, next time I go to the doctor i will definitly ask for an antimigraine. I used to also use the Zomig Nasal Spray but that would just immediatly put me to sleep and when i would wake up my body would feel sore but my headache was gone. i had also tried other pills to take as soon as i felt the migraine coming but those never really worked. Is there anything i should be worried about with the zomig because that seemed to be the only thing that worked before.
Avatar n tn d suggest trying another triptan. There are lots on the market. I use zomig nasal spray, it works fairly well... not 100%, but, it can stop a lot of my migraines. If zomig doesn't work for you, there are still tons of other triptans on the market.. maxalt... and try different types of delivery methods too. Are you taking tablets. Tablets do NOT work very well AT ALL. Try a triptan in a nasal spray.
Avatar f tn examples are maxalt-MLT, zomig-ZMT, zomig nasal spray, imitrex or imitrex nasal spray. But, only your doctor can prescribe these or say if they are actually appropriate for you and your headache (not everyone can take them).
768044 tn?1294223436 t mean that some people might find they do get great results from the tablets even if the zomig is absorbed better in terms of a nasal spray... so, if the tablets DO work for you, I'd never suggest switching to the nasal spray just because the nasal spray is "supposed" to work better.) I liked the maxalt for a while. A lot of my friends use it. It also tastes awful. But, it works really well. It stopped working for me for some reason, I don't know why.
Avatar m tn imitrex is a medication that is for migraines and it is one of the BEST classes of medication for migraines because it actually interrupts the physiology of the migraine... I will talk more about this in a little bit to answer your question about what it does and how it works... but I have to get into what happens during a migraine so it's a bit of a long answer so first I'll answer a few more of your other questions...
Avatar f tn As for triptans, my regular triptan is Zomig Nasal Spray. On average, I use Zomig Nasal Spray every other day. But, there are times where I will go 3 or 4 days without needing to use it. And there are also times where I will use it every day for sometimes up to a week. My Zomig Nasal Spray works about 90% of the time and I have no side effects either, except sometimes if I am using it every single day then my nose will get raw or I will get nose bleeds. I pretty much love my Zomig.
Avatar f tn Triptans are the first-line treatment for migraines. What sort of delivery method was the Imigran? Did you take a tablet, a nasal spray or an injection? Statistically, although Imigran is one of the most popular triptans, it is also the most ineffective when taken in tablet form!! The best way to take Imigran is by injection, and there is an injection that your doctor could prescribe to you.
Avatar m tn Triptans are first-line migraine medication and should be tried first unless you have a medical condition that prevents the use of triptans. The most effective triptans are the quick-absorbing triptans, such as Zomig Nasal Spray, Maxalt-MLTs, or Imitrex Injection. Imitrex Injection is rarely used since it is an injection, but Zomig Nasap Spray or Maxalt-MLTs are simple to take and usually work for most people.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Fast acting triptans are any triptans that are orally disintegrating tablets (like the Maxalt-MLTs) or Nasal Sprays or Injections. I use Zomig Nasal Spray which is another type of fast acting triptan, but Maxalt-MLTs work amazingly too... out of all of the triptans I've tried I think that Maxalt-MLTs and Zomig Nasal Spray have worked much faster than any of the other triptans. It's good he gave you samples of the Maxalt!
Avatar f tn Hi, I haven't heard of a lidocaine nasal spray, I would be very interested to know more about it as my current meds are not working anywhere near as well as they used to.
1025806 tn?1333572690 t have anything to use for acute treatment (like a triptan). The triptans that I think are best are Zomig Nasal Spray and Maxalt-MLTs... although there are tons of triptans out there and lots of people find lots of different ones helpful. Let me know if you find a good solution that stops the suffering! Good luck, I hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn As for myself... I am currently taking topamax 125mg and B2 400mg for preventative treatment, zomig nasal spray (it's important to use the nasal spray, it's much more effective than the tablets) for acute treatment, naproxen and gravol for supplemental acute treatment and hydromorphone for severe acute treatment. in emergency treatment i am usually given IV fluids, IV metoclopramide, IV morphine or hydromorphone and once I was given ketamine...
Avatar f tn My question is this I used to be prescribed a medication called stadol nasal spray and it worked for me but I was prescribed four bottles a month and still had days with migraines I couldn't handle and had to go to the emergency room for them to break with IV dilaudid or demerol 2mg of dilaudid or 100 mg; of demerol would bring the pain level down, my migraines have always been considered migraines but my medical records indicate that I had a brain anyersm after my daughters birth that burst
Avatar f tn I am normally a healthy 60 yr old woman;walk 3 mi. every day; do not smoke or drink; good BP and blood tests good; recently since Oct. smells (fragrances, candles, gas or petro products) produce instant migraines and inner ear fullness/dizzyness/equalibrium problems. Neuro Dr. put me on a 5 day prednesone regime (10mg starting w/5 first day, 4 sec day and so on). still have headache and dizzyness.
Avatar f tn Fast acting triptans come in orally disintegrating tablets or nasal sprays. I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs. Although, everyone is different and all of the triptans on the market have been proven effective in clinical trials, so please discuss with your doctor which triptan would be the most appropriate in your situation. Other acute Migraine medications include analgesics and antiemetics.
472570 tn?1274685887 When I wake up from a migraine, they are usually the most painful migraines that I get. I normally use Zomig Nasal Spray (a triptan) for my headaches, and sometimes I will also use Naproxen (NSAID), Metoclopramide (antiemetic), and Hydromorphone (pain killer) depending on the severity of the migraine; but for my morning migraines, I have to use Imitrex Injection (triptan) and I always have to use the Hydromorphone (pain killer).
Avatar n tn I also use zomig nasal spray (a triptan, migraine medication) and naproxen (a NSAID, pain killer) for acute treatment of migraines. I also use hydromorphone for very serious migraines that the zomig nasal spray and naproxen combo do not help at all after a few hours... I used to have to go to the hospital for this and get an IV, but now I take tablets instead and it is much better because it means much less hospital visits (I used to spend most of my time in the hospital).
526022 tn?1231148784 You should continue Indral and if you feel severe heaviness or headache then use zomig nasal spray, its very effective in acute attack.
