768044 tn?1294223436 For the majority of my migraine headaches, the triptan that I use is Zomig Nasal Spray. I find that of all the triptans I have tried, for me, Zomig works best. I use the 5mg Nasal Spray. I also have a prescription for Imitrex Injection too, although the Imitrex Injection is to use for my most severe migraine headaches (what I used to call my "suicide headaches" or what I now refer to as a 9/10 headache using the Pain Scale that was recently posted in Pain Management Community Forum).
Avatar n tn I know there are preventative medications out there for migraines, however, I don't think my migraines are severe enough to warrant that approach. Like I said in the post, usually they're just headaches that are painful enough to be an annoyance, not severe enough for me to not be able to go on with daily activities. I have been taking Zomig 2.5mg which is a serotonin agonist.
Avatar n tn Been searching for online desperate help again and came across my own post from way back in 2008. Reading my own post from 3 years ago brought tears to my eyes. I will paste it below to give a background of my initial problem: The doctor prescribed these pain killers called Syndol 5 yrs ago. And since then I have only increased the dosage. For the past 4 -5 yrs I've been taking 8-10 tablets daily. I get headaches coming up from my neck to the back of my head.
521800 tn?1212329682 Hi, Your symptoms are more likely due to aura associated with migraine itself only.Sometimes migraines likely have an aura about 15 to 30 minutes before your headache begins. Auras may continue after your headache starts or even occur after your headache begins.
Avatar n tn Hi.... in order that I use them: Home use: - Zomig nasal spray... it is a triptan... so, a migraine medication. At the first signs of a migraine. - Naproxen tablets. If the triptan doesn't provide relief. Help it out with Naproxen... a strong prescription NSAID that is often used for migraine pain. - Gravol tablets. Also will use this if the zomig doesn't help. OR i will use this along with the zomig right away if i have nausea with the migraine.
Avatar f tn Could be migraines. Does it throb right behind your left eye??? I've had migraines for years (comes with having 4 kids I think-ha); the only meds that help relieve most of the pain are Zomig (really expensive, but no generic version yet) and Meloxicam (generic for Mobic) - both pills taken together usually decrease pain within an hour or two. Hope this helps. My doc also suggested Imitrex when I can't afford the Zomig anymore.
Avatar n tn I had my periods las week and have had a head ache for several day finally took some migraine medication that I have taken before called zomig and this morning I woke up with these dots all over my body. Should I be worried? I still do have this headache but its tolerable not like my full on migraines and I do feel drained.
1102283 tn?1257817472 I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs. Although, everyone is different and all of the triptans on the market have been proven effective in clinical trials, so please discuss with the doctor in the clinic which triptan would be the most appropriate in your situation. Although, if you want to go in suggesting something...
1030950 tn?1261010513 if the pain is really bad, like 8+/10 on the pain scale and it won't go away or any headache at all that you would consider the worst headache you've ever had before that you could possibly imagine anyone having no matter how long it lasts for, you could always try going to an Urgent Care Centre or the ER and they will be able to give you medication to try and stop the pain cycle (probably different than what your doctor has already prescribed you) and maybe oxygen like someone else sugg
Avatar n tn i did get a script for zomig nasil spray it helpes but dont last long.nothing shows up on my mri , thankfully the tumor is still gone. i have tried so many meds , like you cant rember there names. thanks for your service in the military , sorry you had to go threw this serving our country. take care of your self.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Yes, you should go to the doctor! This headache has gone on for too long... if a headache does not get better with home treatment, please go to the doctor. Also, if a headache does not go away for over 3 days at all, like no relief at all, then you can even go to emergency. If you feel you cannot handle the pain, please go to emergency. If the headache at any point becomes "the worst pain imaginable" then also please go to emergency. If you can't drive, phone a taxi...
Avatar f tn I take Zomig (I get migraines about 3-5 times a year) and Zomig knocks it out. Ironically, Norco used to give me headaches and then unfortunately, I became accustomed to them and addicted to them...... Now I am on day 14 with no opiates and I am still not quite well, but better each day. I won't be touching those demonic yellow pills anymore. Fortunately, my pain level is manageable as well. Opiates cause rebound pain the same way rebound headaches work. I wish you the best.
Avatar n tn My daughter has been having a headache almost every day for a month. She got about a week off but they are back. They rate a 7 out of 10. We've seen a pediatric neurologist who ordered a ct scan and antibiotics for a possible sinus infection. No help, the 21 day round are finished and we've no relief. We saw a Chiropractor, physical therapist, pediatrician and ENT. Now they suggest a specialist who cannot see her until 2 months from now.
910419 tn?1289483727 I have a tentative diagnosis of basilar migraine that got slapped on me ~7 years ago. That was before my heart condition was diagnosed, so I'm not sure if I still qualify. The thing is, I have an Rx for Zomig, (a triptan) and my mom's made me really scared of taking the Zomig for fear of cutting off blood circulation. Does anybody else here have basilar migraines and take triptans? If not, do you have an abortive of any kind?
Avatar n tn I wake up in the morning and I have tension or slight pain at the base of my head. Mostly on the right side then as the day progesses it can become an extrem headache. I call them migraines. If I lay down the the pain at the base of my head becomes worse. If they progess and become migraines I start to vomit I go into a the tub with hot water for about any hour to lessen the migraine. Is there anything that can help?
Avatar f tn To date I hvae been on three medications for my headaches (meloxicam, zomig and propranolol) but nothing seems to help. My headache has lasted for a month straight but it seems to be getting worse. My family doctor seems to think that I have sinus, tension and migraine headaches. The pain and sensitivity to light has become so bad that I have to sit in a dark and not move all night after a day at school. The pain is mainly behind my eye and on my nose bridge, then it spreeds to my forehead.
86075 tn?1238115091 I have taken zomig for my migraines. it comes in a pill or nasal spray. if you can deal with nasal spray use it. it works really fast i just cant spray anything up my nose! haha one time was all i could handle. i take maxalt. for me it works the fastest. your dr. will probably give you several diff. kinds of samples and have you see which works best on you.
Avatar n tn Doctors have tried doing the cocktail through IV x 3 and never worked, tried zomig, tramadol, Botox injections, steroids, propranolol and the list goes on. I avoid pills as much as possible as I’m aware this could cause a rebound headache. When it comes on its fast and hard! No easing into it. Mostly starts when I walk around, like first thing in the morning. I saw a neurologist, she said nerve damage and did 5 cc’s Into back of the head, this made it worse.
768044 tn?1294223436 Anyway, I told him about the very severe migraines I sometimes get that are much more severe then the normal severe migraines, and how even if I take one or two of everything I have to treat migraines (zomig + naproxen + metoclopramide + gravol + hydromorphone + non-pharmaceutical treatments) that nothing works to even touch the pain and I needed something to treat these unusually (well, unusually for me) severe migraines because I was scared of what I might do to get out of pain if I was alone
Avatar n tn form migraines and when selecting a drug for headache treatment, neurologists take many things into consideration including headache quality, previous medications tried, other health problems, etc. Some of the more common drugs used to treat migraine include those within the following classes: triptans, calcium channel blockers, anticonvulsive meds (i.e. topirimate, valproate), and antidepressents.
