zomig

910419 tn?1289483727 I have a tentative diagnosis of basilar migraine that got slapped on me ~7 years ago. That was before my heart condition was diagnosed, so I'm not sure if I still qualify. The thing is, I have an Rx for Zomig, (a triptan) and my mom's made me really scared of taking the Zomig for fear of cutting off blood circulation. Does anybody else here have basilar migraines and take triptans? If not, do you have an abortive of any kind?
768044 tn?1294223436 Mostly I stick with my Zomig and for the majority of my migraines and the Zomig works. It tends to only be the migraines that wake me up that the zomig just won't work for. Or, sometimes if a migraine comes back on the same day, a second dose of zomig won't work to get rid of it either and it will be much more severe when it comes back. Although, really, over-all, the zomig works the majority of the time.
Avatar m tn or triptans are a class of medication and examples of triptans are sumatriptan (brand name imitrex), zomig, maxalt, axert... well those are just to name a few. And yes, they are migraine medication and you take them at the first signs of the migraine, the SS, and it will stop the SS as long as you take it at the very first signs that it is starting. You can get it prescribed by a neurologist or your family doctor. It is better to go to a neurologist instead of an eye doctor. But...
768044 tn?1294223436 I take zomig and naproxen at the same time... although, always zomig first if I know that it's a migraine... because sometimes the naproxen isn't a good idea apparently according to the information they gave me at the pharmacy... like, I'm not supposed to lie down after taking it for half an hour and I'm supposed to eat something with it...
Avatar n tn The problem of course is not this particular 1 time. I am constantly taking a mixture of syndol and zomig everyday to try and control the pain and addiction but the problem is getting out of hand. Incidentally last year I was admitted into hospital for a few weeks by a neurologist to stop the syndol addiction and I had managed. I was having very little headaches once I got out and was only taking panadols when I felt headaches. I was also prescribed 30mg Amirol every night before I sleep.
Avatar f tn I take Zomig (I get migraines about 3-5 times a year) and Zomig knocks it out. Ironically, Norco used to give me headaches and then unfortunately, I became accustomed to them and addicted to them...... Now I am on day 14 with no opiates and I am still not quite well, but better each day. I won't be touching those demonic yellow pills anymore. Fortunately, my pain level is manageable as well. Opiates cause rebound pain the same way rebound headaches work. I wish you the best.
1125820 tn?1265284446 Statistically, compared to the other triptans, Imitrex Injection, Zomig Nasal Spray and Maxalt-MLTs have the highest success rates for total pain relief in the shortest amount of time. Although, everyone is different and all of the triptans on the market have been proven effective in clinical trials, so which one is best for you is really a personal choice that should be made by you and your doctor.
1102283 tn?1257817472 I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs. Although, everyone is different and all of the triptans on the market have been proven effective in clinical trials, so please discuss with the doctor in the clinic which triptan would be the most appropriate in your situation. Although, if you want to go in suggesting something...

521800 tn?1212329682 t find anything then. This has started happening to me about once every 2 months and I never really paid any attention to it until now. It will happen when i'm doing laundry or when i'm laying in bed watching tv. And anther big issue i don't have health insurance so i haven't gone to the doctor to get this looked at but I just wanna know if it's something serious? Or maybe it's normal and nothing to worry about?
Avatar n tn I have always struggled with migraines and now I am trying to get pregnant. Does anyone have experience with using Zomig or one of the other Triptan medications during pregnancy? What was your experience like? Tylenol is not working for me.
Avatar m tn s not handy, 4-5 200mg ibuprofen. The Zomig is an oral disintegrating tablet, and works in less than 5 minutes. It does leave you feeling a tad spaced out, but I'll take that any day of the week compared to a frenzied/panicked trip to the ER (and the $2k subsequent bill). Xanax should also work, but you should can't take too much of it.
86075 tn?1238115091 Zomig is a central nervous system drug, comes in p.o. and nasal spray. If you have any cardiac issues this is not the drug to take..can cause arrhyhtmias. also contraindicated in hypertensive and liver patients(use cautiously). A friend of mine takes a low dose inderal when she feels a migraine coming, its safe for the liver, but if you have a normally low heart rate and blood pressure it might be too much for you....This works very well for her...

I am also on progesterin to help reduce the amount of headaches, I have been using nasal sprays as well. Month six, no change. Blood tests shows no diabetes, Thyroid, liver or kidney problems. Should I be worried? I still do have this headache but its tolerable not like my full on migraines and I do feel drained.
