Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Zolpidem for over 3 years and recently I found out Zolpidem is used for treating short term insomnia. I'd like to know if it can be used for long term and if whether there are any medications available which can be used for long term treatment.
Avatar m tn To my knowledge, neither klonopin nor seroquel would be first line treatments for insomnia. Seroquel is certainly sedating, but that's a side effect, not its purpose. It can also cause pretty severe weight gain and diabetes, so to take it just for insomnia seems like overkill. As for your withdrawal, are you in withdrawal? You don't state what your symptoms are. Not everyone gets bad withdrawals, in fact most don't.

620048 tn?1358018235 • If Ambien is used daily for more than a few weeks, abrupt discontinuation is not recommended or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Ask your doctor how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when you stop using the medicine. • Immediate-release Ambien is used to help you fall asleep. The extended-release form, Ambien CR, has a first layer that dissolves quickly to help you fall asleep, and a second layer that dissolves slowly to help you stay asleep.
Avatar f tn Im addicted to zolpidem How do I get off it with the minimal withdrawal symptoms Ive been on it for 2 years now
Avatar f tn Hi! I think that quitting one drug would definitely be a step in the right direction. Are you abusing the norcos? Are you looking to get off of everything? It will probably be too hard to quit all of that at once. You should definitely check with your doctor to set up a taper plan, or decide whether you are healthy enough to quit cold turkey. We are here if you need support or have questions during the process. Good luck to you!

Avatar n tn Withdrawal from Xanax is not the same as with opiates, if you're having seizures you should call 911 and get to the hospital ASAP.
Avatar m tn Look at the prescription bottle to see which company manufactured the zolpidem. For many years a pharmacy sent me 90 day supplies of zolpidem from Mylan (manufacturer) which worked well. Then one time I noticed the color of the pills had changed to white and the shape was a little different. Those pills were from Teva (manufacturer) and gave me headaches, dizziness and a general sense of unwellness.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I need to be awake and all systems firing for that day and after a long conversation about whether I could not go, or may be fly instead of coaching it, he gave a prescription for Zolpidem sleeping tablets 5mg. I have a tendency to wake up in the middle of the night and lie in bed with leg and arm pain a bit like flu but with out the fever for several hours. The idea of the sleeping tablet is to give me a full nights sleep, so I am brighter the next day.

Avatar m tn I received a lot of questions regarding seizures during opiate withdrawal, I also endured a lot of criticism about it being true so i figured id post my experience in detail. I figured some might be curious or doubtful and might find insight in my experiences. Withdrawal Related Seizures. My Experience: First i wanted to point out a few little things. Most seizures related to opiate withdrawal have other factors in play like other drugs/alcohol or illness/disease.
Avatar f tn on here that weaning off of lexapro i might want to be substituded with something for seizures. It really scares me that I might start having seizures by weaning off of something. How likely is that to happen?
Avatar m tn Any of you guys have an opinion on usgae low dose to zolpidem 5mg along with 25/50mg of diphenhydramine.....does one cancel out other or issing together worse on liver or not.....?
Avatar m tn Oh g-d I know exactly how you're feeling. Trams DO suck - (yeah let the moderators delete that word whatever) - but they do. It was the strangest withdrawal of my life - and I had been on other opiates over the years for different health issues and the withdrawal from those was nothing compared to the tramadol withdrawal (for me at least - I know we're all different). But I can totally relate to what you're talking about.
Avatar n tn but for now - - zanax must be tapered very slowly to get off of it - - strong risk of complications including seizures and suicidal ideation along with some completed suicides from attempting to quit cold turkey. The absolute best authority on benzo's would be at ------- benzo.org UK - Ashton Manual ------- You cant even learn too much about it at all....................And good luck to you!
1580703 tn?1651904887 I found these drugs that could possibly help. I use zolpidem and it seems to help and am trying to get restoril. This disease is destroying my career and life. Thanks very much! Acetazolamide (Diamox): Acetazolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that causes bicarbaturia and metabolic acidosis, which presumably shifts the apneic threshold of PaCO2 to a lower level.
3655415 tn?1352837277 seizures are not common during opiate withdrawal. were you using any xanax, alcohol or barbituates? seizures are symptoms of withdrawal from any of these.do you have any underlying epilepsy? do you see the doctor and discuss the seizures with him? are you still using the oxys now?
Avatar m tn I have had three seizures as a result. I am now in the process of weaning myself off. I have read that cold turkey is not the way to go. I am down to 10 pills per day and while I have felt a little ill at ease, for the most part I feel good. Good not only physically, but mentally knowing I'm on the downhill hill swing. My question is, am I kidding myself or am i really on track to being free of the drug?
