480448 tn?1426948538 Food and Drug Administration issued a statement on Thursday revealing its decision to require that the makers of zolpidem, a common sleep aid drug, reduce the dosage that is given to patients, particularly women. The FDA issued the mandate due to the emergence of information that has shown that the drug can stay in a person's system for several hours after they wake up. Zolpidem is commonly found in both generic and name-brand sleep aids.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Insomnia is a side effect of Amitriptyline. But you may develop tolerance to this effect. However if it persists, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn d go straight into a panic so they started me on zolpidem 10 at night. I have been on it for 18 months now and zolpidem does not work, and I don't want to take more, so will try wean off that, but I know what will happen, back to adrenalin rushes...plus Xanax seems to have no effect, but if I don't take it, I know I have'nt, if that makes sense. Am I on too much here?
Avatar m tn Any of you guys have an opinion on usgae low dose to zolpidem 5mg along with 25/50mg of diphenhydramine.....does one cancel out other or issing together worse on liver or not.....?
4149717 tn?1389503561 Do not take a larger dose of zolpidem, take it more often, or take it for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking zolpidem without talking to your doctor, especially if you have taken it for longer than 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn Look at the prescription bottle to see which company manufactured the zolpidem. For many years a pharmacy sent me 90 day supplies of zolpidem from Mylan (manufacturer) which worked well. Then one time I noticed the color of the pills had changed to white and the shape was a little different. Those pills were from Teva (manufacturer) and gave me headaches, dizziness and a general sense of unwellness.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed 12.5mg. of zolpidem but my insurance will only cover RX for 10mg. Is this safe to switch?
Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Zolpidem for over 3 years and recently I found out Zolpidem is used for treating short term insomnia. I'd like to know if it can be used for long term and if whether there are any medications available which can be used for long term treatment.
Avatar n tn Hi, Ambien or Zolpidem is a prescription medication used for the short-term treatment of insomnia, as well as some brain disorders. The transition from medicinal use to recreational use of Zolpidem can occur when the drug is used without the doctor's recommendation to continue using it, in high doses (more than the usual 5mg or 10 mg), when consumed other than orally (snorting or injecting), or when taken for purposes other than as a sleep aid.
Avatar f tn I had been on klonopil and celextra for 4 years, after a bad pannic attack, every time i wanted to came off the pills the symptoms where back, so my gp kept prescribing it, i was for about 2 years on a dose of 2.0 then lowered to 1.50 the last 18 months, i begun to notice that i was loosing my short memory, so i decided to stop it lowering again the dose to a 1.0, it made me slepp so well, the problems begun when i was taking 0.
Avatar f tn Hi! I think that quitting one drug would definitely be a step in the right direction. Are you abusing the norcos? Are you looking to get off of everything? It will probably be too hard to quit all of that at once. You should definitely check with your doctor to set up a taper plan, or decide whether you are healthy enough to quit cold turkey. We are here if you need support or have questions during the process. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn It depends on a number of factors; the dose, the length of time on the medications; and the way that you stopped. If you only have mild symtpoms like you described, they should be all gone by the end of a week.
1201433 tn?1328997637 Exposure to zolpidem was decreased when co-administered with telaprevir. Clinical monitoring and dose titration of zolpidem is recommended to achieve the desired clinical response." I also take Zolpidem for my drug induced insomnia. The standard version is either 5mg or 10mg. The CR version is 12.5mg. I tried both the standard and the CR versions. I didn't notice much difference so I am now taking the standard (10mg) version (mostly because it costs less).

1564517 tn?1314346323 I recently had to switch my med doctor because of my age. I have really bad insomnia and have all my life. I'm usually okay once asleep but I cant fall asleep on my own. I was put on 100mg on seroquel but it was reduced overtime because it was causing me to sleep too much, uncontrollably. I now take 25mg at night. But it still takes around 3 hours after I take it before I fall asleep. Well the other day my new doctor put me on 10mg of Zolpidem to take at night with the seroquel....
1218873 tn?1300091216 I need to be awake and all systems firing for that day and after a long conversation about whether I could not go, or may be fly instead of coaching it, he gave a prescription for Zolpidem sleeping tablets 5mg. I have a tendency to wake up in the middle of the night and lie in bed with leg and arm pain a bit like flu but with out the fever for several hours. The idea of the sleeping tablet is to give me a full nights sleep, so I am brighter the next day.
Avatar n tn hello!
Avatar f tn I previously alternated between temazepam and zolpidem for sleep. I also take gabapentin. Three weeks ago I stopped temazepam and tramadol. I am taking zolpidem every night now and continue gabapentin 3x a day. I don't crave either of the meds I quit, but I have been experiencing inability to concentrate, ringing in my ears, vomiting, blurry vision, sweating, confusion, anxiety and mood swings. The symptoms wax and wane and I can't find a pattern.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I found these drugs that could possibly help. I use zolpidem and it seems to help and am trying to get restoril. This disease is destroying my career and life. Thanks very much! Acetazolamide (Diamox): Acetazolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that causes bicarbaturia and metabolic acidosis, which presumably shifts the apneic threshold of PaCO2 to a lower level.
Avatar m tn After 1 year of consistent Zolpidem (Ambien) 10mg use, I realized it was time to stop. The medicine was a "life saver" at first, but as time went on, its effectiveness became way too inconsistent. To make it simple, after using this drug for a year, I now have more of a sleeping disorder than I did before I got on this medicine. After a night that it worked, i was fine during the day. However, after a night that it didn't work, I was useless both mentally and physically.
Avatar m tn I hope when you were loggin your post that you made a typographical error when you stated that you take 10 (ten) mg. of Xanax for sleep. If that dose is indeed correct, you need to speak to the physician prescribing it and demand that you begin a slow taper. Actually, on second thought, I would go to another physician, as any physician that is prescribing that potentially lethal a dose of Xanax should have his or her license revoked.
Avatar f tn s generic form zolpidem. it has always work up until two months ago when apparently the pharmacy changed suppliers. i took the little round purle pill up until then and now i take a white oval one. This one does not seem to be working as well and the side effect just seem wierd Does anyone think that the new manufacturer product is inferior and has anyone experienced this?
Avatar m tn I sometime take Zolpidem( geneic for Ambien) 5 mg. Not every day, my doctor gave me a scrip.
Avatar m tn He had warned me that the steriods could cause sleeplessness but when I complained he would not talk about a sleep aide until I had tried been home and tried sleeping at home and then tried melatonin for at least 3 more nights (which of course fell on a weekend and stretched another two nights), then he gave me a light dose of zolpidem (I think a generic form of ambien) 5 mg, I currently use 10 mg zolpidem and it works great for me.
18070169 tn?1463175914 At this time I was also taking zolpidem every night. I read some stuff on zolpidem side effects and it appeared that after my surgery some of the rare side effects started cropping up. I attributed my anxiety to that. So I quit the zolpidem ct (which I probably shouldn't have) and did have a miserable few weeks, but a lot of the pains I was feeling went away. Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have.
