18070169 tn?1463175914 Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have. But the anxiety is out of control and I figured I have been off of zolpidem long enough (38 days) that I started wondering if it had something to do with my hysterectomy. After reading peoples questions - I am wondering if that is now what I am dealing with. I am sleeping really well, but will occasionally wake up drenched in sweat. It is the day time hours that I am constantly anxious. Everything just gives me anxiety.
Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Zolpidem for over 3 years and recently I found out Zolpidem is used for treating short term insomnia. I'd like to know if it can be used for long term and if whether there are any medications available which can be used for long term treatment.
Avatar f tn I previously alternated between temazepam and zolpidem for sleep. I also take gabapentin. Three weeks ago I stopped temazepam and tramadol. I am taking zolpidem every night now and continue gabapentin 3x a day. I don't crave either of the meds I quit, but I have been experiencing inability to concentrate, ringing in my ears, vomiting, blurry vision, sweating, confusion, anxiety and mood swings. The symptoms wax and wane and I can't find a pattern.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I take 900 mg of Gabapentin, 50mg Tramadol, 10 mg of Zolpidem (generic for Ambien). It takes 2 hrs for mine to kick in sometimes but I get about 6 hrs of undisturbed sleep. Many times, when I wake I have nerve pain in my right upper shoulder/armpit area. I have tried all sorts of over the counter sleep aides and this is the only one that doesn't make me feel yucky the next day.
Avatar m tn Tapering it off is very hard but I think if I could use an alternative drug in place of Zolpidem for a little while, it would help. What is your suggestion? It would be a relief for me to hear from you soon.
Avatar n tn Hey Via, I too have been a long time user of zolpidem and even abused it when I was w/d ing from opiates (big mistake btw). For me when I stopped and I've done this several times thru-out the years. I get 3 nights of very little sleep then my body goes back to normal. It is nothing like coming off of pain meds. You just have resign yourself that sleep will not be good for a few nights, but it will kick back in. Hope this helps. You may want to ask your Dr. about weaning.
Avatar f tn m not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in, since I have never abused medications, but I think I might be experiencing withdrawal symptoms from prescription medications, so I thought I would seek information here. Avatar n tn Has anyone seen anything about the use of ambien for treating brain injury? I've seen some stuff about coma recovery, but nothing on general brain injury. I suffered a cerebral hemmorhage many years ago (22) and presently suffer from short term memory trouble and visual impairment (hemianopsia). About 2 years ago, I experienced insomnia and wa sgiven ambien. Since then, I've taken approx 5mg nightly and have noticed a substantial improvement in my short term memory.
Avatar m tn Look at the prescription bottle to see which company manufactured the zolpidem. For many years a pharmacy sent me 90 day supplies of zolpidem from Mylan (manufacturer) which worked well. Then one time I noticed the color of the pills had changed to white and the shape was a little different. Those pills were from Teva (manufacturer) and gave me headaches, dizziness and a general sense of unwellness.
Avatar f tn you said klonopin made you sleep well, were you taking them for sleep at night or through the day for anxiety? Benzos make a long-term bad choice for sleep, as they do exactly what you're encountering if used for that purpose.
Avatar f tn I have been taking ambien (zolpidem) 10 mg everynight for over a month. It worked good at putting me to sleep but the last few days I have been waking up with terrible anxiety and shaking. I want to stop taking it tonight. Can I just stop or do I need to slowly reduce it? I would like to just stop taking it if I could. I don't know if the ambien is what is causing my morning anxity and shakes but I don't want to feel like that again in the morning. It's so terrible.
4149717 tn?1389503561 Zolpidem Zolpidem should normally be taken for short periods of time. If you take zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer, zolpidem may not help you sleep as well as it did when you first began to take the medication. If you take zolpidem for a long time, you also may develop dependence ('addiction,' a need to continue taking the medication) on zolpidem. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer.
Avatar m tn d try one and then the other before trying them both together. For me, the ambien (zolpidem) works just fine although it does not give me long sleep time. It's not like it knocks me out for 8 hours.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Insomnia is a side effect of Amitriptyline. But you may develop tolerance to this effect. However if it persists, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Zolpidem (Ambien), Methylphenidate (Concerta), Clonidine, and Strattera. First, I do not believe my son should have ever been diagnosed w/ ADHD, I have done the research and written a paper as well as currently going through a publication on an article with my wife (not my son's mother) who is an assistant professor of counseling mental health.

Avatar n tn d go straight into a panic so they started me on zolpidem 10 at night. I have been on it for 18 months now and zolpidem does not work, and I don't want to take more, so will try wean off that, but I know what will happen, back to adrenalin rushes...plus Xanax seems to have no effect, but if I don't take it, I know I have'nt, if that makes sense. Am I on too much here?
Avatar m tn Hi All, I had suffered from general anxiety before, and had received medical treatments for around 3-4 years. Now it has been one and half year since I quit all the anti-anxiety drugs like Paxil as well as the sleeping pills. I felt not bad during the past year without taking any medicine, my sleeping was also fine! But these days I have mild insomnia again, so I took the sleeping pills for a good sleep. I took half of the stilnox (zolpidem) tablet, say 5 mg per night for total 3 nights.

Avatar f tn Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other products that cause drowsiness including alcohol, antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine), drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem), other muscle relaxants, and narcotic pain relievers (such as codeine).Check the labels on all your medicines (such as allergy or cough-and-cold products) because they may contain ingredients that cause drowsiness. Ask your pharmacist about using those products safely.
