zolpidem and mirtazapine

I think my “depression” is controlled but I feel I can’t relax and can’t sleep and irritable and annoyed most od the time. Even when I use zolpidem/zopiclone I get a good nights sleep, but still feel miserable the next day. The reason I wound up on this combo was that when weaning the mirtazapine got depressive symptoms coming back and those were controlled by adding in a bit of sertraline.

I was prescribed Remeron (on 4th Feb) because after Escitalopram kicked in which was in the 3rd week, i started feeling a bit overactive and it badly effected my sleep.... I was till 4th Feb taking Zolpidem XR (prescribed to me as sleep aid as SOS) I also got the anxiety back after losing sleep in the 3rd week when I Escitalopram had made me overactive, plus my depression seemed to have gotten worse suddenly.... probably the stress induced by not sleeping well caused that.

Hey Via, I too have been a long time user of zolpidem and even abused it when I was w/d ing from opiates (big mistake btw). For me when I stopped and I've done this several times thru-out the years. I get 3 nights of very little sleep then my body goes back to normal. It is nothing like coming off of pain meds. You just have resign yourself that sleep will not be good for a few nights, but it will kick back in. Hope this helps. You may want to ask your Dr. about weaning.

d go straight into a panic so they started me on zolpidem 10 at night. I have been on it for 18 months now and zolpidem does not work, and I don't want to take more, so will try wean off that, but I know what will happen, back to adrenalin rushes...plus Xanax seems to have no effect, but if I don't take it, I know I have'nt, if that makes sense. Am I on too much here?

I also take gabapentin. Three weeks ago I stopped temazepam and tramadol. I am taking zolpidem every night now and continue gabapentin 3x a day. I don't crave either of the meds I quit, but I have been experiencing inability to concentrate, ringing in my ears, vomiting, blurry vision, sweating, confusion, anxiety and mood swings. The symptoms wax and wane and I can't find a pattern. The seem to occur as a cluster, meaning all symptoms occur together and come on suddenly.

At this time I was also taking zolpidem every night. I read some stuff on zolpidem side effects and it appeared that after my surgery some of the rare side effects started cropping up. I attributed my anxiety to that. So I quit the zolpidem ct (which I probably shouldn't have) and did have a miserable few weeks, but a lot of the pains I was feeling went away. Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have.

Hello. I was taking 30mg of mirtazapine at bedtime. Then, on friday I took only 15mg. On saturday I did a lot of sports and running and didn't take any Mirtazapine. On sunday, I took four beers and haven't taken any Mirtazapine since then. On monday I was having headaches and was harder to think. Do you think this is because of the alcohol or just because of withdrawal symptons? Thank you.

Hi there; I've had the same problem, and I've taken sleep aids for years also. Now I take Restoril one night and the next I use over the counter sleep aids. I know how miserable it is not to get enough sleep. I don't like taking the sleeping pills, but in order to function at all, I have to. I stopped fighting it and take my pills and sleep. I can take 2 Advil PM and they work better than the perscription sleep med. Tylenol PM makes me sick at my tummy so I stay away from them.

I have suffered from insomnia for about 3 years now and have tried trazadone and zolpidem tartrate. I am currently on zolpidem 10 mg. I do not have trouble maintaining sleep just onset. Usually this occurs 3-4 nights a week and can lay awake for 2-4 hours before falling asleep. This causes me to be extremely tired the next day. I really avoid taking naps and can "power" through the day only to feel wide awake come bed time around 11-12 pm.

I took a few days 10 mg of zolpidem for sleep (from the doctor) and now my head is terrible you think it would go by itself?I have terrible insomnia and i don't know is very unpleasent and makes me very lethargic in motion.

s something you can stop CT or if you need to taper. Best to ask your doctor or pharmacist. I was on it for years, and I did stop CT and used melatonin and Allteril instead. I actually find the Allteril works better for sleep than the Ambien did.

I’ve been on mirtazapine for a year or so now and I’m happy with the results and my progress. I’ve recently had a bad knee cartilage injury and have been prescribed the painkillers. Codeine makes me tired let alone the mirtazapine but is there any concerns I should have otherwise?

I just started taking mirtazapine and I'm very worried about the "weight gain" risk. How big is this risk really? I mean if I only eat fruits and veg all the time anyway, how can I gain weight? Is there anyone out there who has been on mirtazapine awhile and can help me out with my questions?

Hello and hope you are doing well. Insomnia is a side effect of Amitriptyline. But you may develop tolerance to this effect. However if it persists, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

hi, two moths ago i took 15 mg mirtazapine for sleep, and the next day my face look sagging and swollen , within week my lower cheek sunken in, anyone noticed the similar problem with mirtazapine or other antidepressants?

I am now trying to remove the mirtazapine and cut the 7.5mg cold turkey and was awake all night not having it and severe panic attacks in the night and during the day with severe nausea. So now Im trying to take a 1/4 tablet of mirtazapine which is approx 3.75mg. How should I go about this? I do have a doctor appointment booked as I think withdrawal is already an issue.

She is sleep/wake having conversations she doesnt remember and and having conversations with us that did not happen, Sleep walking, cleaning.... Is this common and should Ambien be prescribed to teens with PTS?

My psychiatrist prescribed a starting dose of sertraline of 50mg/day. Since starting the sertraline again i have been suffering from physiological anxiety symptoms such as a tight throat, lump in throat, trouble swallowing and breathing, etc.

s action on dopamine and norepinephrine might be the only thing you need more and especially since mirtazapine is sedative and Wellbutrin is stimulating. Taking both medications will take care of all your monoamines which are thought to contribute to depression. I would not recommend Effexor. Zoloft is usually good at treating GAD since it's a ''soft'' SSRI but I don't think it will do any better than Celexa.

even when I went on the mirtazapine. My Dr. prescribed xanax for me and it helped hold me until the mirtazapine started working. I also take 30 mg. at night for depression.... I couldn't tolerate anything - made me agitated...

I had been on klonopil and celextra for 4 years, after a bad pannic attack, every time i wanted to came off the pills the symptoms where back, so my gp kept prescribing it, i was for about 2 years on a dose of 2.0 then lowered to 1.50 the last 18 months, i begun to notice that i was loosing my short memory, so i decided to stop it lowering again the dose to a 1.0, it made me slepp so well, the problems begun when i was taking 0.

Thank you for the response!! Shadow is a 5 y/o neutered male. He's been tested for Fliv, cancer and been xrayed. The only thing they found was an elevated white blood count and a slight fever. So he spent 2 days at the vet getting IV fluids and broad spectrum antibiotics that was last weekend. He was eating okay until Friday and I called the vet and got the Mirtazapine. I'm running out of money quickly and I'm sick with worry that he's not going to make it through this.

It really helped me for a couple of years. Withdrawal was minimal. But the 2nd round I took it for a few months then weened off, the withdrawal was really bad on me. But it could have been a bad mix of anxiety on top of that. It will make you crave sugary foods! But it will kill anxiety and depression. It made me super creative as well. Loved it while my body was agreeing with it. :) I prefer to be med free these days though. Good luck, hope it works well for you!
