Zoloft withdrawal message board

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft withdrawal message board

zoloft

1041243 tn?1375230520 It's probably withdrawal from the Zoloft. These need to be tapered off slowly. Although many psychiatrists persist in believing ssris are all alike, they aren't, and one doesn't necessarily substitute for another or stop withdrawal. The proper way to do it, from my understanding, is to slowly withdraw from the drug you're on until you're pretty far down and then slowly start substituting the new med.
Avatar m tn I was just prescribed zoloft (50mg) for anxiety and depression. I haven't started taking it yet because I'm afraid that: 1. I'll become addicted to it 2. If I have to stop taking it (tapering off of it versus stopping cold turkey) that I won't be able to and/or I'll experience all the withdraw symptoms Is 50mg too much? The pharmacist who filled my medication said that it would help initially and then could make the symptoms worse, has anyone experienced this?
Avatar f tn It would probably be more helpful to the person asking the question if you took your arguments with each other off to your message board. Whatever effexor did to one and whatever paxil did to the other is not a competition. As both of you said one time or another, people have their own experience with medication and react the way they do individually, and cannot be applied to ALL, just because you experienced it. Everyone goes through things in different degrees, different variables, etc.
Avatar f tn Hi to everyone, I've been reading this message board for months now, but unable to post because my Apple computer won't let me, don't understand why and we've tried everything.so i'm in my adult community's clubhouse using their pc. Let me first say you are an amazing, compassionate group of ladies and I'm glad to be able to read the information you post to help each other. I'm stage 3C, BRCA 2 positive, OVCA which has metastasized to the lymph nodes.
Avatar n tn t know about the withdrawal effects, and it is not possible on this board to determine who messed up with their end of the process. If you have a good doc like mine, the info is always provided to the patient. To anyone who doesn't, you might try to find a new one.
Avatar m tn Did you just quite taking the Zoloft cold turkey? You can definitely have withdrawal symptoms from discontinuing an SSRI like Zoloft too quickly. Also, don't adjust your medication without the advice of your doctor as well. In my opinion, it was obviously working. Many people stop taking it because they are feeling normal; remember that they are designed to help you feel 'normal.
Avatar m tn Does Tramadol have as much SSRI in it as Zoloft? Does 100mg of Tramadol have as much SSRI as say 50mg of Zoloft? I was taking Tramadol while I was going through Zoloft withdrawal and I'm just wondering if I stunted the healing process of my Zoloft withdrawal. My body and mind still don't feel 100% since quitting Zoloft, but it's definitely getting better.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking Zoloft (100mg once a day) a few days ago. I had no withdrawal at all. This morning I woke up with the most intense vertigo and nausea I've ever had. I have a fear of throwing up so I'm on the verge of tears because I do not want to throw up. I tried eating and I even took 50mg of Zoloft to see if that was the problem. But it's been 3 hours and I'm sitting here at work wondering if I should go home or if it's even safe for me to drive.
Avatar m tn s and I think that helped me to wean me off and Doc was replacing it with Zoloft slowly in course of month and half. Still went through hell and still am. I am on 150 Zoloft and 20 Paxil now, 3 weeks it has been after Homewood . Yesturday I experienced severe chest pain, tightness of chest. Even I took Pindolol which reduces Blood pressure (Beta Blocker) 10 mg and 20 mg of valium in the morning for anxiety and IT NEVER HELPED and my blood pressure was still high.
Avatar m tn Today I took 1 Vicodin (Labeled M367, 10/325 norco) I took my last Zoloft 14 days ago. I was on 50 mg Zoloft. I took my first Zoloft pill on December 19, 2014 and I took my last Zoloft pill on January 19, 2015. I'm currently going through Zoloft withdrawals and have many of the typical Zoloft withdrawal symptoms. I was just wondering if taking a Vicodin will interfere with the recovery of my Zoloft withdrawal?
Avatar f tn I used the exact same tapering schedule to wean myself off Zoloft. In my case, I didn't experience any withdrawal effects.

1173196 tn?1292916490 I was just looking at the Zoloft site (coincidentally, not because of your question) and saw there was some suggestion of inhibition of growth in babies when Zoloft is taken during pregnancy. This blew my mind because I took 50 mg a day during pregnancy, and my son weighed in at 6 lb. 12 oz. at birth, surprising me a little because that seemed just a bit small.
Avatar n tn s the downside of moving immediately from one med to another without completing a nice slow taper from the one first. Especially Paxil, which is known to have a strong withdrawal. If the Zoloft proves problematic, taper it down slowly; don't do this again. And as far as I know, none of these is particularly great for a baby to be born taking. The other problem is that Zoloft hopefully will work, but there's no guarantee one ssri will substitute for another.
Avatar m tn //mentalhealthdaily.com/2014/04/15/zoloft-sertraline-withdrawal-symptoms-list-duration/ I was listening to a song I always use to think was very catchy before I took Zoloft, and now I can't figure out what was so appealing about the song. Do you think that's from lack of emotion combined with the other symptoms I've been having?
Avatar m tn These do not sound like side effects of the Prozac, which really hasn't taken effect yet even for side effects. These are instead classic withdrawal effects of quitting an ssri or snri. Did you taper off the Zoloft slowly, or quit abruptly?
Avatar m tn Will my brain and body still heal from the Zoloft withdrawal even if I'm taking Vicodin? Will taking Vicodin interfere with the Zoloft withdrawal process?
Avatar n tn Hello, I am sorry you are finding withdrawal from Zoloft so hard. I was lucky, and when I stopped it to start another anti-depressant, I had no withdrawal symptoms. Why do you want to stop taking it? Are you having a bad reaction to it? Has it not helped you for the 2 years you have been taking it? Are the symptoms you are experiencing side effects of the drug, or withdrawal? It may be that you cannot do without anti-depressants. Sounds like your body is telling you that.
Avatar f tn First of all, I don't think Zoloft is approved for use in pregnancy either. Second, how quickly did you quit using Paxil? Switching to Zoloft won't help the withdrawal from Paxil, which is one of the most difficult medications to stop taking particularly after that long. It needs to be done very slowly -- after that long it might take months and months.
Avatar f tn It most likely is withdrawal. It's dangerous to not take these types of medications as prescribed, and you never want to abruptly just stop these types of medications due to withdrawal. I assume and hope that the Zoloft was prescribed by a psychaitrist? If so he would be able to tell you how to taper off. Also, being without the medication may be causing you anxiety, which in turn will cause your current symptoms. All this may also mean you still need the medication.
