My OBGYN (yes, my gyno) prescribed me 50mg of Zoloft last Thursday. I know Zoloft is both an antidepressant and anti-anxiety, but I would prefer to be on something more geared towards the anxiety. I don't have a depression-just severe generalized anxiety. How should I go about discussing switching to a more anti-anxiety focused med? I've heard a lot of bad things about Zoloft. I hear a lot of people gain weight & this is a huge concern for me.

Xanax is a very GOOD drug for people with severe Panic attacks , NOT for people with anxiety! the zoloft is a good switch and for myself when I first started taking zoloft the need for xanax became less needed. Zoloft can take from 4-6 weeks to get the theraputic effect. but remember DRUGS ARE NOT A CURE, they are to help clear your mind to be able to deal with your Anxiety/Panic.

I was on zoloft b4 and it changed my life, short version, I was on xanax a number of years, I would not take another drug, finally gave in and took zoloft, was easy to stop xanax and then the zoloft, (ALONG with therapy) , I got my life back.
this time I am off xanax and just started zoloft last week and will increase this week, I have been journalling about it.
I had gone to my Primary Care Physician after my old Psychaitrist retired and I had an Panic Attack. The PCP told me the lexapro stoppped working and to take Zoloft and Xanax> What a mistake! I had bad reactions to both and my new Psych has put me back on Lexapro and Klonopin and I am feelin. Has any one else had experieces similiar to this.
For example you start feeling sick with withdrawl symptoms toward the end of your taper cycle of Zoloft. Then take just 0.25mgs of Xanax (NOT 25MGS of XANAX) just 0.25mgs (as in a quarter of one miligram.)
Don't worry the Xanax is not going to produce any withdrawl symptoms when you stop taking it. (AS LONG AS YOU DON'T ABUSE IT) if need be 0.50Mgs can be good before bed to help you sleep.
who prescribed me ativan and Zoloft, would not prescribe me the valium. Adventually I came off the Zoloft due to the side effects. The Ativan did its job for awhile but i was taking "too" much a day according to him so he just put me on Klonopin 4mg per day. It seems to be fine keeping me calm and not too many side effects but it is not helping with random anxiety onsets nor is it helping me with sleep.
Are there any benefit to Klonopin over xanax? I have been on xanax for anxiety for a few months now. I'm trying to take as little as possible so that I don't become dependent or tolerant. I've been taking less than 1.5mg per day, sometimes only 0.25mg. My anxiety seems to be pretty chronic. When I don't take much xanax, it creeps up on me until I really feel horrible. Does Klonopin work as well? Is it less addictive?
My doctor prescribed 100mg of Zoloft to combat ill effects of xanax. I've d/c'd the xanax under her authorization. Sine this time, I've had increased anxiety and panic attacks. I don't know if it's the zoloft or simply withdrawal but my anxiety has increased. I have had the most panic attacks while driving. Anyone have similar experience with zoloft?
If you had been on Zoloft for 6 years and then stopped it, I can only hope that it was under the guidance and surpervision of your doctor. If it was, he should have put you on a very slow taper and if you found yourself having some anxiety issues during the taper, he should have also given you a short acting benzo to help with those symptoms.
My dr has advised me to up my dose of zoloft, im currently taking 50mg and he fills cause im still suffering from anxiety pretty bad that an increase would be beneficial to me. He has said i can split a 25mg in half to start out cause im scared to get side effects all over again. I do also take xanax 0.5 mg three times a day too. I would just like to know if its likely i will feel side effects all over again ???
My Dr put me on zoloft and 2mg xanax and zoloft 50 mg. I did not feel that the zoloft help me but the xanax has helped me sleep, but now im up to almost 8mg of xanax a day and tampered off the zoloft. I was recently upped to 150mg of zoloft. I had my first every anxiety attack ever and then became very depressed. My doctor put me on 30mg of lexapro for six weeks and I seemed to be getting worse. He had me switch to 100mg of zoloft for a week and then increase to 150mg. Since I've been at 150mg, I have felt very tired and more anxious and depressed at the same time. It has been causing me to take xanax again after almost stopping. I was down to less than 0.5mg per day.
due to anxiety issues I was taking xanax for 3 weeks then switched to klonopin for 3 weeks, also 2 weeks ago i started taking zoloft. The xanax was .5 mg 4 times a day and the klonopin is 1mg morning .5 lunch, .5 dinner and 1mg bedtime. zoloft started last week at 25mg and now is 50 mg. I built a tolerance for the xanax and now it seems them sames is happening with klonopin. I have a lack of appettite and anxiety.

The psychiatrist also told me to take Xanax in the morning and at night while I up my Zoloft dosage (upped it again yesterday). Maybe this is something you'd want to consider.
With all that being said, I know you can feel better, too! It's so easy to lose hope...I felt at rock bottom on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, I felt like God gave me a miracle.
I followed up with my regular Dr and he prescribe 50mg of Zoloft and told me if need be I can take the Xanax if I have a panic attack while the Zoloft kicks in well I took my 1st Zoloft on June 9th and that night I also took a Xanax, I ended up back in the ER with my blood pressure tho the roof and a panic attack x10!!!!!
I immediately discontinued the Zoloft but continued to take the Xanax, well I stopped taking the Xanax all together about 3 days ago!! Giant mistake!!!!!
