Zoloft side effects long

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft side effects long

zoloft

Avatar f tn What you're now on is Prozac. Two problems potentially here. First, you can't just quit Zoloft -- you need to taper off it as most people get some withdrawal from quitting these meds. That most likely explains your symptoms more so than the Prozac. Often, at the tail end of a taper down, Prozac will be used to help when withdrawal is bad because it's considered easier to stop taking, but that's only at the very end of the taper.
Avatar f tn I believe you can continue to take your Ativan as it is in a different class of drugs from your other meds. BUT.................I am NOT a doctor nor a pharmacist and I will tell you right now that you MUST check this out with someome with real knowledge of the interactions of medications. And that is NOT me! Zoloft, an antidepressant, normally reaches steady state in about a week and in my humble opinion, you should not still be feeling "really anxious and nervous.
Avatar f tn Zoloft has a fairly long half-life of 26 hours. A half-life is the amount of time it will take your body to excrete 1/2 of the amount of Zoloft in your body. I really suck at math, so I'll leave that up to you. Bottom line though is that it's not going to take very long. Couple days at most. Hell, you only took a grand total of 75mg. Drink lots of water and understand that your anxiety about "withdrawing" from that tiny amount of Zoloft IS just that......anxiety.
Avatar f tn Has anyone here ever taken Zoloft? If so wat were your side effects? I started Zoloft on Monday. I only took one pill n within a couple of hours I felt horrible! I had nausea n diarrhea. Today is Thursday and I still feel nauseas. Keep in mind it took one pill on Monday n no more after that. Please give me some input.
10361664 tn?1409609407 thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
Avatar n tn I too am on 175 - 200mg of Zoloft and I admit when first starting the medication I was feeling quite dizzy and nauseated. Dosage started at 50mg, then after a week increased, and every week increased until I reached 175mg. In the past my doctor has had me on Celexa and Effexor but Zoloft seems to work the best, for me that is. Everyone is different. I waver between 175 - 200mg depending on the kind of day I'm having.
Avatar m tn I have been on zoloft for two weeks and the side effects are still pretty bad, without any benefits (it seems like it has been two years!). (I have tried lexapro, paxil, and celexa, but zoloft was the first AD I have taken and from my first experience seemed to produce the least side effects for me (although this time seems bad). I know it takes awhile for SSRI's to get working and initial side effects are common. I started taking 25mgs for a week and have been on 50mgs for a week.
Avatar f tn I experienced the most significant side effects at about the same time period on zoloft that you are. Some good folks on here, plus my psychiatrist, advised me to wait at least 4-6 weeks, because it takes time for the meds to level out in your system. I'm on day 55 on zoloft and all my side effects are gone. Just my experience, though, yours may be different. I'd give it a solid 2 more weeks. Keep focusing on good things - what is better vs. what is worse.
Avatar f tn I had terrible side effects from Zoloft not pregnant. I would be terrified to take while I was pregnant. It has to be very unsafe for baby. Hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn A working dosage level often needs to be gradually worked up to so our bodies can adapt to such harsh chemicals, and interim side effects may go away as we adapt. Long term use may lead to a fresh side effect appearing at some point (so, those need to be watched out for). Meanwhile anxiety can create its own symptoms which can confuse matters in assessing a new med's impact and safety. May I message you with a selection of links to my recent posts about anxiety coping tips?
20632981 tn?1503687567 My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
Avatar f tn I am sick of being sick, i hv taken xanax before cause of my anxiety. I just wondering how long it's side effects will gone? I am really sick of it, Headache, Dizziness, Extreme Fatigue, Dry Mouth,Lost of concentration, Insomnia, And a lot more, Please Help!!
2198057 tn?1338531205 Try getting another prescription for something else like Lexapro or Welbuturin. To many side effects with zoloft. In the meantime try to get some low dose zanax to calm your nerves until you get different meds. Remember anxiety is an over exhagerrated nervous system that needs to be nourished and medicated because of imbalances in the brain. Does this run in your family?
Avatar f tn Zoloft, like other SSRI's, often makes anxiety worse before it gets better. Sometimes a doctor will prescribe something like Klonopin (which is basically a longer-lasting benzo like Ativan or Xanax) to take along with the SSRI for the first 2-3 weeks to help keep those temporary negative side effects at bay, then wean the patient off of them about the time the SSRI benefits kick in. Also, it is often recommended to "start low, go slow" with an SSRI.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I had a episode about 3 months ago of unexplained anxiety, no trigger or history of it.. MD thinks hormonal change, I am 39 years old. I felt a little depressed with the anxiety and he started me on Zoloft at the beginning of November. I have been having the jittery caffeine feeling with this med consistently having to take klonopin ..25mg in the am with the dose as it seems to be works about 5 hours post dose.
Avatar n tn As lagoya mentioned, you may or may not experience side effects. If so, they range from annoying side effects to serious side effects. If it's helpful, when I took flecainide, I had weird dreams, shakiness, tremors and gastointestinal problems. It wasn't horrible, but it was bothersome enough that the doctor switched me to rhythmol. Great suggestion from lagoya on checing out the medication under "Health Topics" above.
Avatar f tn Could someone please tell me what they think of this drug? Are there any bad side effects? How long does it take for it to start working? Thank you.
Avatar f tn All medications have side effects. All of them. Some of us are lucky and don't get them, but there aren't any meds that don't have side effects. Our bodies evolved to eat, not to take meds. This problem is multiplied when you start on more than one drug at a time. I see why you did that, as you were apparently treating withdrawal problems, but start up side effects are pretty common.
486038 tn?1300063367 Hi, Sunny~ I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Starting a new medication can be awful. Why don't you call your pharmacist (or any 24 hr pharmacy if yours is closed at this time on the weekend) and tell her or him what side effects you're having and what they recommend, since it's the weekend,a nd you don't want to call your doc until Monday. Maybe you can take half doses for a while, or skip every other day until you get used to the med.
Avatar f tn Lastly, you may wish to discuss switching from Zoloft to another anti-depressant such as Wellbutrin, which has less sexual side effects. Best of luck to you. Dr.
Avatar f tn So far been on zoloft for a week and still waiting for these side effects but still nothing I know this drug takes a couple of weeks before it starts working for the good but thought I would ave seen some side effects by now how long does it take to get them?
Avatar f tn I have mild asthma and allergies as well but I also take Zoloft without those side effects. Sure you could be having a reacation but, it could also be your anxiety so worried about side effects.... That is probably why your doc wants to wait to change your meds, to see if the feelings subside.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been on Zoloft for 15yrs (50mg) for debilitating anxiety. Zoloft gave me my life back (also did a lot of CBT). I have still had panic attacks on Zoloft (but rarely) and usually I have triggered it by having too much alcohol followed by little sleep - a lethal combination for me. Overall Zoloft has been a Godsend and the only issue I've had is a lack of libido. After in depth discussions with my Dr's I had accepted that Zoloft was part of my life and that was ok.
