Zoloft side effects after stopping

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft side effects after stopping

zoloft

Avatar m tn Well, I stopped the Zoloft after Thursday's dose. I was definitely starting to feel strange. I felt like my emotions were dulled. No happiness, sadness, etc. I didn't like it. My heart stopped skipping beats too. I feel like my old self again now. My dose was very small, but these SSRI's really have strange effects on me.
Avatar f tn I believe you can continue to take your Ativan as it is in a different class of drugs from your other meds. BUT.................I am NOT a doctor nor a pharmacist and I will tell you right now that you MUST check this out with someome with real knowledge of the interactions of medications. And that is NOT me! Zoloft, an antidepressant, normally reaches steady state in about a week and in my humble opinion, you should not still be feeling "really anxious and nervous.
20632981 tn?1503687567 My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?
Avatar n tn t taper off as you should have done before starting the Zoloft. It could be side effects of the Zoloft, which you should have tapered up on slowly to get your brain used to it. It could be overdosing on serotonin, as you're still on the Effexor. And it could be just your same old problems never having been cured in therapy but just suppressed by meds that aren't currently working.
Avatar f tn I have mild asthma and allergies as well but I also take Zoloft without those side effects. Sure you could be having a reacation but, it could also be your anxiety so worried about side effects.... That is probably why your doc wants to wait to change your meds, to see if the feelings subside.
Avatar f tn im not really liking zoloft with all the side effects and such.has anyone ever stopped taking zoloft?my fear is that all my anxiety will come bk.does anyone do or take anything more natural so you dont have to take meds?
Avatar f tn s just hard to know when something is coincidental or a side effect of a drug or a side effect of too many drugs at once or the side effects of stopping a drug. But at this point, you are where you are, and if it goes on for any length of time you probably need to see a headache specialist. Psychiatrists aren't that. And if you did abruptly stop either or both of the other two drugs, go back on them and see if the problem resolves. If it does, it was withdrawal, not the Zoloft.
Avatar f tn I started Zoloft around Febuary of this year, after stopping Prozac due to my inability to handle its side effects. Zoloft worked amazingly for about 5-6 months, and now in early October I'm finding that my depression, anxiety, and apathy are all returning. I'm continuing to take my Zoloft, which is at 50mg a day, but I'm going through unable to enjoy ANYTHING. could Zoloft not be working anymore? I don't know what to do. I just want something that works for as long as I take it.
Avatar f tn I had terrible side effects from Zoloft not pregnant. I would be terrified to take while I was pregnant. It has to be very unsafe for baby. Hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn All medications have side effects. All of them. Some of us are lucky and don't get them, but there aren't any meds that don't have side effects. Our bodies evolved to eat, not to take meds. This problem is multiplied when you start on more than one drug at a time. I see why you did that, as you were apparently treating withdrawal problems, but start up side effects are pretty common.
2036568 tn?1330482758 You can have these side effects in the beginning of taking an antidepressant. You may want to give your a Dr call though and tell him/her what's going on. We all react differently to these meds. The side effects could stop soon because it's takes awhile for them to get fully in to your system. Or, this may not be the right med for you. Give your Dr a call. Please let us know how your doing.
1009065 tn?1250630199 In General antidepressants should not be given to people under 18. For reasons unknown SSRI's like Zoloft can often cause problems in young teens. Then again, if you are suffering from a very serious Major depression, then some Psychiatrists will view utilizing an antidepressant as the lesser of two evils. For many years I used to take Zoloft at 200Mgs a day. At that time it worked pretty good.
Avatar n tn It took a little while for my body to get used to it; I would say that after a couple of weeks, the side effects really dropped off and after about a month or so, I did not notice them at all. Medications can sometimes be a little hit and miss depending on the person, but I usually advise patience with this. Has your doctor prescribed you a benzo for short term use while you start Zoloft? Many times he/she will prescribe one to help with the anxiety...keep us posted!
Avatar f tn When I was on Zoloft I became VERY energetic (prehaps even slightly manic) when I first started to take the medication and had trouble sleeping. This lasted a few weeks. If you still suffer from these side-effects after a month, you should talk to your doctor as you may need a medication/dosage change. Did you have any trouble sleeping before the Zoloft?
Avatar f tn Has anyone here ever taken Zoloft? If so wat were your side effects? I started Zoloft on Monday. I only took one pill n within a couple of hours I felt horrible! I had nausea n diarrhea. Today is Thursday and I still feel nauseas. Keep in mind it took one pill on Monday n no more after that. Please give me some input.
Avatar f tn Zoloft has a fairly long half-life of 26 hours. A half-life is the amount of time it will take your body to excrete 1/2 of the amount of Zoloft in your body. I really suck at math, so I'll leave that up to you. Bottom line though is that it's not going to take very long. Couple days at most. Hell, you only took a grand total of 75mg. Drink lots of water and understand that your anxiety about "withdrawing" from that tiny amount of Zoloft IS just that......anxiety.
Avatar f tn Zoloft, like other SSRI's, often makes anxiety worse before it gets better. Sometimes a doctor will prescribe something like Klonopin (which is basically a longer-lasting benzo like Ativan or Xanax) to take along with the SSRI for the first 2-3 weeks to help keep those temporary negative side effects at bay, then wean the patient off of them about the time the SSRI benefits kick in. Also, it is often recommended to "start low, go slow" with an SSRI.
Avatar f tn t have a lot of knowledge and/or much experience with meds like these. I have tapered off of Zoloft after a year of use and my doc put me on a slow taper and even slowed it down when I was having a little more side effects than I wanted...which helped tremendously. In my opinion, tapering, especially after long term use, is VERY important. If your doctor is not willing to work with you on this, is there another doctor or therapist that you have worked with?
Avatar m tn Lately when exercising, I have noticed pronounced fatigue and some light-headedness. I suppose this is due to stopping the Zoloft without weaning myself from taking this medication. Will these symptoms ease up or stop soon? I still take the Xanax.
Avatar n tn After being grief stricken from the lost of my son 7 years ago, I began taking Zoloft. I recently was given Wellbutrin for the sexual side effects I was having from the Zoloft (decreased libido). After taking it for 30 days (150mg) a day, I lost my medical insurance and could not afford to pay cash. I had to quit cold turkey. I have been feeling distressed after one week without taking it. I have anger outbursts, crying fits, deep sadness.
