Zoloft kidney stones

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft kidney stones

zoloft

Follow up with her for blood work to determine the incidence of kidney stones and if they'll develop while taking this medication. She says this blood test will determine if I'll get them or not. Bloods come back negative, no stones ever from the Topamax. I don't buy it so if anyone here has better or different insight, please let me know. I won't mind the Topamax for the weight loss side affects, but something tells me I won't get that lucky.
Had a nuclear test and body scan about a year ago. Tests were all normal. Recently have been having kidney pain, i do get stones more often than not. have passed them numerous times. Had pain *not bad* atbout 5 days prior. Had some nasty heartburn last two days....fixed with pepcid. stress test done (treadmill)..done, bit out of shape but fine. Last year my dr. saw a change in my EKG, There was quite some years in between the last test.
FYI my anxiety kicked in with withdrawl from hydrocodone after taking them for about 4 1/2 months for kidney stones. No one told me to taper off and I had alot of withdrawl...anxiety being the biggest problem. I am hoping that this is the only reason I have developed this anxiety issue but I don't know. It has been 2 months since I went off the pain meds.

Crohns Disease symptoms started 4 years ago. The kidney problems started 2 years ago, first with stones in my right kidney. I have had Lithotripsy 3 times and surgical removal 2 times in the last 2 years. The kidney infection was found September 1998. I have had no bad side effects from any of the antibiocts, they just have not helped.
Im currently 21 weeks pregnant and im taking 25mg of zoloft for my depression and anxiety and now i have kidney stones so im taking the antibiotic macrobid, phengran for nausea and tylenol 3 for the pain of the kidney stones my question is, is it ok to take these medications together im scared that taking all these meds will hurt my baby
This is my story---is anyone in this position or got through this and how? I started having kidney stones at age 18 (passing about 4 to 6 stones a year & basket surgery). Then my 1st pregnancy was wonderful--but was able to pass stones without pain meds or surgeries (passed over 20 stones & OB changed my prenatal w/o calcium b/c I produce calcium oxolate stones-had baby in 2000). Then 2nd pregnancy was awful-back hurt a lot and then severe.
Testicular pain can be due to injury, infection (Epididymitis or Orchitis) or inflammation, testicular torsion( most common in young men), excessive bicycle riding, hernia, varicocele or kidney or ureteric stones. As there is no swelling or inflammation or redness of the scrotal sacs, so the chances of epidiymitis or orchitis are rare. In cases of hernia, a prominent bulge along with testicular pain is there and in cases of kidney or ureteric stones, pain during micturition may also be there.
I am also prescribed 20mg of Lasik daily for water retention (which by the way is not working as well lately) My husband knows someone who had kidney stones and thinks that might be what's wrong with me. But every time I decide to make an appointment with the doctor the blood in the urine stops for the day - but then comes back again within 1-3 days later. Why do I wait??? Because I am starting to feel like a hypochondriac.
there is a small incidence of developing kidney stones while on this med. I was supposed to have blood and urine tests done after being on it for a month and at 100mgs. to determine if they were forming. The neuro doc told me if the tests come back negative then the liklihood of getting kidney stones while on Topamax was slim. Who says? Got a crystal ball to back that up? Other adverse side affects are breast pain, menstrual interruptions and body odor.
if you absolutely need them, they're fairly safe to take in moderated and monitored doses after the first trimester. I was on and off STRONG painkillers for kidney stones during my pregnancy and my daughter turned out absolutely fine (although be forewarned most doctors will tell you not to take anything except tylenol past about 34wks....
I wouldn't mind the weight loss side affect Topamax has as I've gained a lot since being on Zoloft but I am concerned about the kidney stones it may cause. My doctor said that after being on it for a month and reaching 100mgs. daily, she'll draw blood to detect if there is any incidence. She said if not, I won't get them while on this medication. I asked if she had a crystal ball in her pocket because who can predict that? Anyone have any insight? As always, thanks!

Hi, i actually have a question for you about the kidney stones you mentioned above. I was recently hospitalized with a kidney infection, and they are not sure, but i may have had a stone and passed it. i have been on meds for depression and anxiety for years. do these meds cause kidney stones as far as you know?? does taking medicine daily for long periods of time cause a kidney stone?? thanks!!
Don't forget about the possibility of developing kidney stones, breast pain, menstrual problems (for women obviously) body odor and inability to sweat while on Topamax. Basically anything that is carbonated is going to taste like **** while on this med. Sodas are carbonated; sodas contain sugar. You stop drinking soda and consuming that sugar, sure you'll lose weight. Diet sodas don't necessarily mean anything if there is high fructose corn syrup listed in the ingredients.
BTW my anxiety hit the rough after stopping hydrocodone for C-section,ovarian cysts and kidney stones that required stents and lithrotripsy. I was one the hydrocodone for a total of about 17 months.
I have fatigue, migraines, non-narcoleptic hypersominia, RLS, TMJ, kidney stones, GERD, Fibromalygia, depression, heat intolerance, dry eyes. 3 years ago I was in a car accident and had traumatic amputation of my right leg above the knee.I now walk well with a prosthesis. On most days I can hardly put one foot infront of the other. I am now having trouble sleeping at night. I'm seeing an Endo, Rhumetologist, Urologist, Neurologist, Sleep dr., family dr and a physical medicine dr.
but also i went from 350 to 302 in amatter of a couple of months and ive done nothing different in my diet and i hardly exercise. I take resperidal and zoloft. i have a history of kidney stones and i went through treatment for HepC which is still undetected for the last 3 yrs. but other then that nooother health problems.
I'm on it too, i just started with kidney stones. Also another sign of magnesium deficiency, these stones also (along with depression, schizophrenia and facial tics) run in my family. Imagine if it turns out to be the underlying problem ? I have tried every other alternative method, so lets see ! Am doing super well lately and down to bare minimum medication and, hope to leave this behind soon !
I take potassium citrate and chlorthalid to prevent kidney stones (taken 10+ years), Zoloft, and a multivitamin. At one point my potassium levels were low, so my urologist upped my potassium citrate dosage. My doctor at first thought it was an ulcer, but an h pylori test came back negative and a few weeks on Nexium didn't help at all.
My apologies but I left out one other thing- there is a chance that I may have endometriosis on my bladder, but I am holding off on laproscopy for now. It is believed that I have it on my bowel. My last PVR was done on my menstrual period (where there were 64 cc's) so I don't know if endometriosis on the bladder could have had an effect since I was on my period.
DRE was done, he didn't notice anything. Did a KUB xray as I had kidney stones years ago. He thought he saw a spot. Took blood/urine and sent me for a CT SCAN. Blood urine were perfect. CT SCAN showed a 1mm stone, nothing in rest of abdomen/pelvis. He said that would not cause any issue. Switched me to Levaquin for for another 2-3 weeks. Sensation in rectum backed off after just 4-5 days of Cipro, bowel movements seemed OK, not perfect. I was going daily, but took a more effort.
had my third child 5 months ago, was a horrible pregnancy and delivery. Was on bedrest for preterm labor at 23 weeks, developed kidney stones, gestational diabetes and then one night out of the blue, my blood pressure went thru the roof, went to the hospital, was put on mag sulfate and was induced. Had her the next day. My blood pressure returned to normal, but my OB told me that we both could of died during delivery!! That did it...
After you have recovered from this current illness, the hematuria will need to be evaluated further. Blood in the urine can be a sign of other health problems, such as kidney stones. Also kidney stones can also make you more prone to infections, but in most cases do not.
well i take zoloft some seizuree meds and blood pressure stuff, so i've been using on /off for maybe a year well some of it was script cause of radiation and breakin my foot and kidney stones...so does wds affect the other meds?make them weaker or stronger,or maybe help a little? so oh yeah, percoset 5mil or 7mil a couple of times a day it's been on and off but i've actually got some from a friend so it raised a red flag for me and i've taken 3 pills today..
Also, my brother in law took Wellbutrin and it decreased his urine output and caused him to have a bout with kidney stones. This was several years ago. He has never had stones before and has not since discontinuing the Wellbutrin. Has anyone heard of this? Can the drug cause crystals to form in the joints like it caused the kidney stones? Is it possible that it causes the body's PH to change, or ??? Thanks!
