Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft generic side effects

zoloft

Avatar n tn If you return to this forum I'm sure someone will know the side effects of Zoloft.. I do not... it's an antidepressant and this is probably why your friend feels better. I am replying to let you know that you can go to any pharmacy and ask to get a printout or package leaflet on any prescription drug. You will be able to read the possible side effects from common ones to very rare ones. I have done this on occasion even when I was not there to pick up a prescription. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Some people do fine with the sertraline generics, but others find they are not as effective, or experience more side effects. Some peolpe find one manufacturer's generic is okay, while a different generic is not. One of my patients switched to a generic after being on brand Zoloft for years, and soon after developed GI symptoms, She was about to be put on a med. for that problem, but decided to first try switching back to Zoloft.
Avatar f tn Just remember that there are side effects with Sertraline (Zoloft) in both the generic and brand name forms especiallly when you start, change doses, or come off of it, but for most people they are not that bad. For example I have more side effects from taking a Claritan than I ever did with Zoloft. As with any medical concerns, always keep an open channel with your doctor to express any of your concerns or questions.
Avatar f tn I started zoloft last night at like 9pm. 25mg. I have bad anxiety about being dizzy...huge phobia...so my doc suggested this drug to help. Obviioulsy I am TERRIFIED the drug will cause me to be dizzy. So I finally took it after many times putting it off. So I haven't noticed any side effects yet, and obivously it has only been less than 24 hours, so I am soo worried the bad side effects are coming...
Avatar f tn I was on Zoloft for panic attacks, It never worked for me, I was on it for over a month with no results & I had no side effects!! But, they say everyone is different!! Best of luck & hope it works for you!
Avatar f tn It's difficult to find information on this drug, and there is some question as to whether it is a generic of Zoloft, but no solid evidence to support that it is. It's manufactured in India, and little information is available on it. It's linked to Seroquel another antidepressant. It does state that it affects the liver, but I couldn't find more specifics on side effects.
2198057 tn?1338531205 Hello, I just was introduced to generic brand for Zoloft. I took 1/2 12.5 for only 2 days now and I do feel some side effects. Itchy skin, major headache, tired, overall just not myself. I also am going on cruise next weekend and I was told not to drink with this medication, what's your thoughts? I may stop it today and start it up when I come back from vacation?
1773104 tn?1314155711 Does anyone else have experience with Paxil (or generics) or Zoloft (or generics) or other like drugs? I was on a Paxil generic, Peroxatine after a very bad attack. The drug really messed with me bad and I almost lost my jobs because of how my body reacted to it. I have been switched to Zoloft generic and now I'm dizzy and feel like I'm on the edge of an attack leading to fainting. Is there anything, none drug, that can help with anxiety?
Avatar n tn I am wondering if anyone has any of the sexual side effects? Prozac was the first med I was given about 2 years ago and I felt dead to the world and had terrible sexual side effects. I had to stop them. My doc said I may get them since Celexa is in the same category of meds. If I do then we can try something else.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
1387949 tn?1279719529 Perhaps you can see if the pharmacy will sell you a 1 week supply or so to hold you over. You may very well have some withdrawal effects in the first week. If you have some now you can also try breaking the tablets up and taking a smaller dose each day.
Avatar m tn I was just prescribed Zoloft 100mg (generic version) and 1mg of Ativan (generic version) today by my Dr. and was wondering if anyone else has had any success with the two? I am supposed to begin by taking half of a pill of of the zoloft for the first week then to go to a whole week after the first week. I was given the Ativan to help me with my anxiety attacks and also for insomnia.
Avatar f tn When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects. I am glad that you are seeing a psychiatrist to help you with your medication prescriptions and questions.
Avatar f tn I have been on and off Zoloft for years and it has helped me tremendously. I remember when I first started taking it...initially, I was terrified about even trying it because I was worried about the side effects. While I noticed a few when I started, they pretty much went away within a couple of weeks. I also believe that some of what I was feeling was probably due to my anxiety as well. I attributed any 'odd' feeling to the medication whether it was relevant or not.
Avatar f tn I had terrible side effects from Zoloft not pregnant. I would be terrified to take while I was pregnant. It has to be very unsafe for baby. Hope you feel better.
612551 tn?1450022175 I started Sertraline (Zoloft generic) 6 days ago. I am still testing at a low 25 mg dose. I think I had/have an increase in fatigue, a side effect and can not say I feel any "better". Happily, no serious side effects but the fatigue is also present due to bereavement/grief struggle and that may the main driver for fatigue, Sertraline may eventually reduce that depression-type symptom, fatigue.
Avatar n tn I tried it for a day or two but I could not tolerate the side effects, so stopped. I have had to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment with my Dr. I will see him tomorrow. Meanwhile I now have an ever increasing heart rate and other symptoms mentioned in your website. How do I explain all this to my Dr?
10361664 tn?1409609407 thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
Avatar f tn I believe you can continue to take your Ativan as it is in a different class of drugs from your other meds. BUT.................I am NOT a doctor nor a pharmacist and I will tell you right now that you MUST check this out with someome with real knowledge of the interactions of medications. And that is NOT me! Zoloft, an antidepressant, normally reaches steady state in about a week and in my humble opinion, you should not still be feeling "really anxious and nervous.
Avatar m tn t get any side effects, some people get pretty significant side effects. Once again, they are temporary, and will abate usually by the 2nd or 3rd week of treatment. Also, Zoloft can take up to 4-6 weeks (for some people even longer) for it to start really working. Some people even require a dosage increase to get them to a therapeutic dose. Therefore, you must understand that this is a process that takes some time.
Avatar m tn But I do know that a comprehensive study should be conducted on the effects of Zoloft versus generic brands and the effects of taking Zoloft long term then switching to a generic brand.
Avatar f tn Has anyone here ever taken Zoloft? If so wat were your side effects? I started Zoloft on Monday. I only took one pill n within a couple of hours I felt horrible! I had nausea n diarrhea. Today is Thursday and I still feel nauseas. Keep in mind it took one pill on Monday n no more after that. Please give me some input.
Avatar f tn Zoloft has a fairly long half-life of 26 hours. A half-life is the amount of time it will take your body to excrete 1/2 of the amount of Zoloft in your body. I really suck at math, so I'll leave that up to you. Bottom line though is that it's not going to take very long. Couple days at most. Hell, you only took a grand total of 75mg. Drink lots of water and understand that your anxiety about "withdrawing" from that tiny amount of Zoloft IS just that......anxiety.
Avatar n tn After being grief stricken from the lost of my son 7 years ago, I began taking Zoloft. I recently was given Wellbutrin for the sexual side effects I was having from the Zoloft (decreased libido). After taking it for 30 days (150mg) a day, I lost my medical insurance and could not afford to pay cash. I had to quit cold turkey. I have been feeling distressed after one week without taking it. I have anger outbursts, crying fits, deep sadness.
