With Xanax, your body becomes tolerant and you either have to keep upping the dose or wean yourself off as it is probably no longer doing what it was intended to do. The Zoloft IS prescribe for depression but ALSO for major panic disorder and anxiety. It is much easier to stop Zoloft than to stop Xanax. And you should not drink AT ALL while taking either medication! That your doc said to limit yourself to two beers is only half-responsible in my book.

Hi, I suffer from severe social anxiety and public speaking, my doctor in Manila prescribed me Abilify and Sertraline. Did anyone use these medicine for social/public anxiety and does it help?

D.(Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and Social Phobia and panic attacks. I did the same thing, and it was a mistake.....I believe you should go back to the doctor and see what they say. It may be helpful to try taking the meds at a lower dose than before and/or trying a different medication.

Hi everyone, I am on a couple anxiety meds I have struggled with panic disorder and social phobia my whole life. I am on zoloft and klonopin 1mg twice a day My anxiety is really regulated and My doc and I fel the zoloft has done the most for me and I dont plan on staying on Klon. for the rest of my life I dont want to be on a benzo forever I know there are some w/d's but Im not hangin onto this med like a security blanket, I have talked to alot of ppl that do. I take 2 one mg pills a day.

There is a difference in treatment if you undergo therapy, which I would recommend, as the therapy for agoraphobia would be different than that for GAD or social anxiety, but there would also be some similarities. With medication, the same ones are used for all three with the exception of the propanolol, which is only usually helpful for social anxiety or public speaking fears. hi, im an 18 year old male and i was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and depersonalization. I feel very depressed and was wondering if i should give the meds a try? right now all i do is drink beer and stay in my room. I had a job at a liquor store but i got fired and they didn't tell me why, and i also lost my first love and after all that happened i turned to alcohol.

My daughter has been suffering with severe panic/anxiety disorder since she was about 7 years old. Over the years it has gotten worse. She has been going to a social worker for the past 4 years. They are working with congnative behavioral therapy and it has helped her tremendously. About 3 months ago her panic and anxiety seem to be gettting worse. We do not know of any cause for this. She landed in the hospital twice in one week recently due to the panic attack.

Hi, it is my understanding that the class of drugs that zoloft is part of----- the seratonin reuptake inhibitors will affect the sertonin levels of the brain (increases it) so that a person can properly function. It works to relieve anxiety and social anxiety. It has a start up period of 2 to 4 weeks in which a person can have different types of side effects. They can become agitated for one. Some go the other way and get sleepy.

So nardil is a great medication for social anxiety disorder, however I'm too afraid to take it in pill form because of the dietary restrictions it imposes. I was wondering if I can get a pharmacist to convert my pill prescription into an injectable dosage so that the medication bypasses my gut.

We took her to a psychiatrist who put her on Zoloft and Trileptal.. She was better for a while and made 9th grade basketball and golf team. She made nearly straight A's and has never had thoughts of hurting herself. Then about three months into her school year she had to quit both sports because on the attacks. I first tried Paxil (high school) and that worked pretty good for the social anxiety. I was taken off of Paxil after 1-2yrs. 2-3 years later I started voicing my problems again with anxiety and I was put on Zoloft (college). After several months, Zoloft was still not working and was stopped. My doctor suggested going back on Paxil (post-college). So I started Paxil again, however, the Paxil had no effect this time around (I guess I used my one and only "get out of jail free" card!!).

One caveat: Take no more than 200mg of Zoloft, so you need two tablets of 100mg Zoloft. And then add it in slowly, start with a tablet broken in half, work your way up to the two tablets of 100mg Zoloft, for example, and take it twice a day, breakfast and dinner.

ive been on the zoloft 200mg for 2 months and bupropion 75mg twice a day for a month and a half. no psychiatrist yet. my doc says i should see one. also he wont raise my clonazepam dosage even though ive told him sometimes they dont work. my bipolar well i think im becoming more aggressive. sayin mean things without thinking.

ive had it for like a year or two and i had symptoms of social anxiety for acouple of years but i was shy or actualy i had social anxiety but it wasn't as bad as it is right now. i dunno, okay well lets get to the point. is there a way to get over social anxiety.. even just a little bit. to the point where you can go do what you need to do but still feel alittle scared?

I've been diagnosed - by a psychiatrist - with Social Anxiety Disorder. I've been taking Lexapro for almost 2 months - started on 10 mg and the dosage was up to 20 mg two weeks ago. Also, for the last 3 months I've been speaking every week or two with a licensed professional counselor. My main problem is associating with people that are close to my age range, I'm 26.

She thinks I would be perfect for it, and it does sound like a very good opportunity for me, only my social anxiety has me panicked just thinking about it. In middle I had a few friends but in high school I moved and couldnt make any friends at all. Then I learned about social anxiety disorder and is sound alot like me and i have other anxiety disorders like hypocondira and OCD. But it could be aspergers.

I am a 30 year old female that has suffered from depression, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD since childhood. I have been on at least 7 different medications over the years that have and have not worked for various symptoms; however, I can't find one that works for them all. I have been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for about 3 years and it works great for my depression and the best thing I've ever taken for my OCD, but my anxiety is worse than it has ever been.
