Approximately 20 percent of men have premature ejaculation. There can be non-drug therapy involving the "pause and squeeze" technique, but this has variable success. Various types of antidepressants have been used - including Zoloft and Paxil. Other studies have shown that clomipramine may be more useful than the SSRIs (i.e. Zoloft and Paxil listed above). Another medicine to consider would be Trazodone, which has been used in some smaller studies.

I understand that certain anti-depressent medications (Zoloft) may have sexual side effects that can benefit men suffering from Premature Ejaculation. Does anyone know if it is wise to take this medication only for that purpose (ex.. to take a pill a few hours before sex ).

There are a few things you can do to help with premature ejaculation. There are some medications that slow you down (Zoloft, for example, in addition to being used for depression, is also known for treating premature ejaculation). If it's a problem that's really starting to bite into your sex life, I'd talk to my doctor about things that can be done to help you last longer. Non-medical techniques to be considered would be things like a ****-ring, that can keep you erect for longer.
"you could also end up with delayed ejaculation" That's the whole point, SSRI's delay ejaculation, once you go off the meds, the delay goes away, it's not permanent. And yes SSRI's can affect libido, but again that's the whole point, it makes ejaculation more difficult, but for someone who can last two or three strokes and needs help, it's a gift. The squeeze method to strengthen sphincter/pelvic muscles as mentioned earlier is also good.
I some time ejaculate with out even full erection (premature ejaculation) I get erection fine in the middle of the night. I do pee couples of time at night. Am I not a perfect candidate for something like Viagra?, and I can say with out doubt that I have erectile dysfunction or testrones deficiency?. What should I do ... very puzzled.

He doesn't seem to understand the weak erections and premature ejaculation problems, especially when I tell him I had neither on Zoloft all those years. Needless to say this has been hell on my relationship, going from a healthy sex drive to having little desire and wondering if I'll ever be normal again. Did my sex drive shut down for good after I came off Zoloft after ten years? How can I get it back, as it doesn't seem to be there whether I am on or off an SSRI?

Hi, How are you? I think you are suffering from retrograde ejaculation and not premature ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation is when semen goes into the bladder rather than out of your penis during orgasm. Although you still reach sexual climax, you may ejaculate very little or no semen (dry orgasm). Retrograde ejaculation isn't harmful, but it can cause fertility problems.
Suddenly I started to feel that I am suffering from premature ejaculation. I will be married this year but maybe within 6 to 8 months. I am very worried about it because there is no long marriage life without sex. I have heard about Zoloft and Dapoxetine that they are good in this condition but never tried yet. There are also some side effects of these medications. But I need your help and advice that what medicines I should use or what I should I do? Sometimes I face erectile dysfunction.
He finally went to a Urologist who told him he doesn' t know why he would be experiencing pain, but maybe he has a fungus or infection. He was given zoloft for premature ejaculation and doxycycline for any possible infections and was told to put diaper cream on his glans. I'm not sure this is the right course of action, wouldn't I have an infection if he did? I've had no abnormal paps since this has occured.
This is a common (and extremely frustrating) side effect of SSRI antidepressants. I'm on Lexapro, and I experience the same thing. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot that can be done about it. However, you should ask your doctor (hopefully a psychiatrist) about adding a low dose of Wellbutrin or Buspar to you Zoloft. Both of these have been shown in studies to counteract the sexual side-effects associated with SSRIs.

-Occasional slow stream -false urgency -feeling of non-emptying of bladder during urination -Premature ejaculation For these issues I had a cytoscopy which came back clean, the doctor said the only thing he could suggest is that I drink a few alcoholic beverages and see if that relaxes everything. (this seems crazy to me).
I also last about 10 - 40 secs during sex (premature ejaculation) and I have a very hard time trying to urinate when I know other people are around. I also seem to have a really high sex drive and I get aroused very easily. My erections come on very fast. I would like to know if SAD could be linked to these problems? I'm not on any medication currently. I tried Paxil and Zoloft (low doses for about 4 months) for my anxiety but neither of them worked.
Usually SSRI's decrease premature ejaculation. In fact it can make it downright difficult for some to ejaculate at all. Most 20 year old males get exited quite easily, so don't worry about that. it will most likley decrease with age. As one who suffers from General Anxiety Disorder and severe panic attacks (and depression) from my experiences, you have to learn to try not to worry about everything under sun. Get checked by a Doctor if you need to, but most likely everything is just fine.
I also found out that many doctors actually prescribe SSRI medication to men that suffer from Premature Ejaculation. This medication therapy often helps men with this issue to prolong sexual climax. It think it's pretty safe to say that Sexual side effects are very common with AD medication.
