t personally do anything (my psychiatrist, for example, has most of her practice treating the elderly, which is unfortunate for me because it means she's no longer available for appointments very often but it does help the elderly). One thing to consider -- does she eat very much?

m not so sure about how SSRI meds like Zoloft might effect the elderly, but this behavior sound serious and I would contact her doctor immidiatly. You may want to taper her off the Zoloft.

Can anyone give me a comparison between Effexor XR and Zoloft for severe anxiety. My Psycharist has just put me on Effexor XR 37.5. I have also ben prescribed Zoloft in the last 6 months but never took it. I have taken Effexor XR 37.5 for two months but quit cold turkey because of the cost, side effects. I really do not want to start Effexor again because of the nasty withdrawal. Anyone had experience with either or both? With Zoloft, is it difficult to sleep at night?

zoloft/sertraline is an SSRI that can cause mania to bipolars. Rule no 1 don't ever take any antidepressant except associated with a mood stabilizer or an antipsychotic. If your doctor put you on zoloft alone and he said you have bipolar disorder, then I am afraid you should check his degree. I am SURE he is is not a doctor at all, let alone pdoc. Zoloft is one of the strong SSRI of course effexor is worse especially in withdrawals but zoloft is also bad. It's only 10 years old.

I am now my elderly parents only living child. So now I have my special needs son, my elderly parents and have to help with my brothers kids . I thought I was handling everything okay, but upon one of my many 3 hour trips to go help my parents go through my brothers house/belongings I had to pull over because my heart was racing so unbelievably fast I didn't want to die behind the wheel.

My mom is 85 and has been taking zoloft and paxil for depression and anxiety attacks. I have noticed recently that she doesn't smile as often and her conversations are limited. The prescriptions you are talking about are Zoloft and Tradazone. Those are standard anti-depressents. However, I personally know about Aricept because I tried it for tardive dyskinesia and had a pretty poor response. My grandfather was prescribed Aricept for age related memory loss after a cardiovascular impairment. He couldn't tolerate it either. That doesn't mean at all its the wrong medication generally. Its just it has a fair amount of side effects for some people.

This is going to be kind of stupid to ask because I'm sure nearly all of you have been prescribed zoloft for depression, if you've been prescribed it before... but how did zoloft work for your anxiety? They prescribed me some during my hospital stay for my anxiety. I'm already less jittery but feeling anxious a bit still but I know that will take a week or so to take full effect.

I was taking pristiqe for depression and anxiety I'm 6 wks today and as soon as I found out I was pregnant the Dr. Made me switch over to Zoloft for depression. My daughter (15 years old) has been recently prescribed 50mg Zoloft for mild depression. The primary doctor said i have virual virus do to allergies, so i saw my doctor who precribed me the Zoloft he said not take zoloft for two weeks until i get better from this virual virus then try the zoloft again if you have reaction to it stop the zoloft then wait a week and try different medicine called citalpram 20mm. i am so sacred to taking any medicine because i am so sentitive to medicine anyway.

On Zoloft 25 mg for 3 weeks. Initial terrible insomnia is getting better but still very tired. Sleeping 12-14 ours daily. Is this normal? Will it go away? Taking med in the morning and going back to sleep till 1-2 pm now. Will taking it at night help with the daytime fatigue or will it make insomnia worse? Will the fatigue make depression and anxiety worse if I cannot cope when school starts? Is Zoloft right for me? Should I be patient and wait longer?

As I said Zoloft was a wonderful drug for me and worked great for my panic attacks and anxiety to where they were completely gone for years, and it may not work for you at all. You just need to try and see what happens that is the best you can do!!

My OCD is centered around irrational thinking and it took Wellbutrin about 4 weeks before it really started to kick in for me so I'm guessing that Zoloft will be the same.

I am on Lexapro 20mg and Klonopin. I was on Zoloft and Xanax but had bad reaction.

Dr wanted to switch me symbalta (looked it up--said it was for bi-polar). I requested to try to go off zoloft. She said to take one every other day for two weeks and then quit. Keep taking Klonopin. Now I see Klonopin withdrawal and side affects are bad and maybe I'm getting symptoms from that too? This is the first morning I was to not take zoloft but heard tapering slowly is better, so took half (will do for two weeks) and then down to .

Well, I've been on zoloft for 3 weeks now, if anything I feel worse. I want to try another medication or go back on the effexor that I was on last year. How do I ween myself off the zoloft before taking another med, any advice?
