Zoloft dosing in children

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft dosing in children

zoloft

Avatar n tn It goes on, stating that in clinical trials there were no connections between zoloft and suicide in children either with OCD or drepression. I want to help my daughter be happy, but why would the psychiatrist place her on a medication which is not approved by the FDA??
Avatar n tn can zoloft cause or aggravate rage in young children? Will Tenex and or Zoloft aggravate psychotic features?
1758616 tn?1326912710 I'm taking 100 mg Zoloft daily for Major depression.. Been on it for 8 weeks and feel much better,, my question is,, Will I feel even better if I ask my dr about increasing the dose??
445263 tn?1208801416 I have a question about Zoloft dosing. I have been prescribed a dose of 50mg. I have been taking half of that dose (25mg, of course) for about a month now. I've noticed my depression lift exponentially; still experience some anxiety and anx attacks, though nothing I can't cognitively deal with. I have always been scared of taking any medication that changes my mood, of course (anxiety), and therefore haven't taken any of the meds prescribed at their prescribed dose.
Avatar f tn We do not know of any cause for this. She landed in the hospital twice in one week recently due to the panic attack. I took her to a psychiatrist and he put her on Zoloft. She has only been on it for about a week and has lost most of her appitite. I know she needs something to help control these attacks. I been against medicine for the past couple of years. She is just 17 years old but I fear without the medicine she will get worse.
Avatar m tn I took tramadol daily for the last month or so. just got a Rx for Zoloft for postpartum depression. how long before the tramadol is out of my system and it is safe to take the Zoloft?
Avatar n tn I would like to know if it is alright to take 200 mg zoloft, 150 mg effexor xr, and 300 mg gabapentin 3 times a day, each day?
470964 tn?1240246255 i take zoloft 100mg for anxiety/depression. i also take topamax for migraines. i started at 50 mg (25 mg am & pm) . yesterday my doc increased the topamax to 75 mg (50mg am & 25 pm). i was so focused on making sure i took the right amount of topamax that i can't remember if i took my zoloft or not. i counted my pills, but i'm still not sure if i took today's dose of zoloft or not.
Avatar m tn Have you tried different things to remind you to take the Zoloft? If you take it in the am, you could put your pill bottle (or a post-it note) next to your coffee pot, or somewhere you would be sure to see it. I keep my pill bottle in a place that reminds me visually when I see it.
Avatar m tn So I forgot to take my Zoloft in the morning 2 days ago and ended up taking it at 6pm. I had what I would consider as a minor panic attack and then was fine. The next day I took my Zoloft around noonish and felt fine throughout the day. Had a bit of depersonalization but was ok. And today I took my Zoloft on time. But last night and kind of right now I been feeling kinda dizzy. Kinda like the room is spinning slowly and I feel as if I'm walking kinda Weird.
Avatar m tn I have heard of these medications petering out and not working. That is a big bummer. I assume they tried adjusting dosing? Have you taken any other SSRI's? Paxil is one that is a good med while it works but hard to come off of from what I've read. We have a member that had a life changing issue with paxil. Our doctor says that it is a viable medication to choose but it comes after others. You've tried celexa, prozac, zoloft?
Avatar f tn However, I just read this amazing article about med dosing..It was the cover story in March 2003 in LE Magazine, if you can locate it, please read it..Most people do not need to be on the "starting dose" docs put us on..Studies show that 1/4 to 1/2 dose of just as effective and had less side effects..I wish of you the best of luck with Zoloft, if Prozac does not help that will be my next try...
Avatar m tn How are you directed to take it? Klonopin is a long acting benzo that is the most effective when dosed regularly, usually twice a day. It could be that your dosing schedule isn't optimal, or you may need a higher dose. You should be noticing improvements by now. Talk to your doc about it. Let us know what he/she says!
15695260 tn?1549593113 The research followed participants for 15 years and tested children when they were very young. They believe this will help delay or prevent diabetes in those predisposed to develop it. https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=170637 Would you test your kids to find out if they are at high risk of developing Type 1 Diabetes?
Avatar f tn t stay at a steady state that long, so it is possible that you may need a slightly higher dose, or perhaps a change in your dosing schedule would alleviate the symptoms? While Zoloft is usually taken once daily, it can be taken twice daily, and sometimes dosing it like that takes care of that "in between dose" type of w/d. Also, are you on a generic formulation of the medication? Sometimes, changing to the brand name formulation will make a difference.
Avatar f tn Oh, no. I was saying that 20 mg of Paxil is what typically gets a therapeutic response for the medication -- one tablet. With zoloft, it often takes more than one tablet to get a therapeutic response. So, higher mg strength is often what is required to do that. While both Paxil and Zoloft are SSRI's, they are still different compounds and dosing is different in that it takes more mg. strength of zoloft typically to control anxiety/depression.
Avatar f tn I started up again back on my 100 mg and of course had all the start up effects which have all gone except tightness uncomfortable feeling in my stomach especially in the mornings. I take my zoloft at night before bed. The big question I have is that I just started my 8 week back on zoloft and I still have worry and anxiety. I'm scared I'm not going to get better. Does it take this long?
Avatar f tn Today I started taking a multi vitamin, potasium suppliment (I get bad cramps), and Zoloft since I hear depression is bad and I use to take it so I have a good 30 day supply. I am planning on taking a 1/4 of immodium starting the day before the 22nd and slowly upping it. Immodium usually stops me up completely and I get terrible stomach cramps so I am hoping a 1/4 to start will work for me. I'm just sharing because this place is a good outlet and annoymous.
Avatar f tn I wanted to add that sometimes changing your dosing time will help too. I take my Zoloft at bedtime, which lessens any kind of "surge" I may feel in regard to side effects. Always check with your doc first, but changing to a bedtime dosing routine shouldn't be an issue and it may help a little.
Avatar f tn If you are going to ween her off be sure to talk to the doctor about the best way to do it. Suddenly stopping it could be a disaster. SSRI's of which Zoloft is one work differently in people, especially in children. And if you are going to continue with some kind of medication you may want to seek out a child psychiatrist since they have more experience with children's reactions to medications.
Avatar n tn My best friend is very afraid to have another baby because she was on Zoloft. She asked her psychiatrist and I asked mine and they both said that Zoloft is the best antidepressant to be on during pregnancy. It has the lowest risk of negative outcomes. Many, many people stay on antidepressants while pregnant. I am not trying to sway you either way, I just know myself. When I am not on my antidepressant I am terribly depressed and having panic attacks a lot.
Avatar f tn I have aspergers and zoloft helps me deal with my environment. I can handle noises, changes, and people in general much better now, I do not get angry or phobic so soon any more. So i guess my environment thinks this has improved my behaviour ; ) Just watch it: zoloft has to be started and stopped very carefully, with the help of a physician !
