Avatar f tn Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). At 200mg. your at the highest recommended daily dosage. Although Zoloft is not the worst offender, you can probably expect an increase in appetite and weight gain. This, unfortunately is a typical side effect of most SSRI's.
Avatar f tn Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and major depressive disorder. As you can see Zoloft is used to treat OCD whereas Lesapro is used to treat anxiety, so that is why your doctor recommended trying Zoloft. You can give it a try and if it is ineffective, talk with your doctor about alternatives.
Avatar f tn You say you were taking Zoloft at 2Mgs a day? I didn't even know Zoloft came in such a low dosage. I used to take Zoloft at 200Mgs a day. Lowest dosage is 50mgs a day and even that dosage is too low for most people.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder in November 2007. Since then, I have been taking Zoloft. Thr Dr. gradually increased my dose from 25mg to 150mg. I stayed and the 150mg until 2 weeks ago. I was telling the Dr. that it seems like my anxiety was coming back. She upped my dosage to 200mg about 2 weeks ago. I was doing good the 1st week, now this week I am an anxious mess. I can't tell if I am better or worse than I was before the dosage increase.

Avatar f tn Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Zoloft is a good medication for the treatment of major depression, but like most SSRI's, it can cause significant weight gain.
Avatar n tn My mother has been suffering from a panic disorder for the past 5 months, primarily experiencing the panic at night. She describes the feeling as a pit in her stomach and fear, but she can not really say what she fears. She just says " I am fearful." She has seen a psychiatrist who gave her zoloft first, but it did not work. Then they gave her xanax, but again this did not work. Then they told her to take more xanax and Klonopin, but she continues to experience the panic.
Avatar f tn Ok so, I'm taking 50mg of Zoloft. I'm trying to understand if that's a strong dosage. I mean they have 600mg of ibuprofen. Is the 50mg of Zoloft stronger than the 600mg of ibuprofen? Because, 600mg sounds a lot more stronger than 50mg?
190885 tn?1333025891 Zoloft DosageThe Zoloft dosage that doctors usually recommend for adults with depression or obsessive-compulsive disorder is 50 mg once a day. Although the starting dose for people with panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, or social anxiety disorder is typically 25 mg daily, healthcare providers often increase that dose to 50 mg daily.
Avatar n tn s if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch. Zoloft seems to work very similar to paxil at least it did for me.
Avatar f tn I have panic disorder also and I'm also 22 years old! I was first prescribed with Zoloft as well and started with 50 mg for a couple of years it did the trick then after a stressful year of college I went up to 100mg of Zoloft long term, and half a pill of Clonazapan in the morning and half at night for 6 weeks. He had me transition by taking 75 mg of Zoloft for a couple weeks. Every case is different. Your anxiety may be a more severe case and you need to be on a higher dosage quicker.
Avatar n tn My doctor seems to thing I have a anxiety disorder because I worry about my health sometimes. I have had a few panic attacks over the year and became afraid of them. He thought I might try this drug. I really don't like medicines and I am just afraid of them and the side effects. Can you advise what to do. I don't feel all that great on Zoloft. It makes me stay up at night and feel apprehensive in the morning. Is there a better way to treat anxiety?
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. One of the challenges of having a panic disorder is that your brain amplifies even small worries, and you end up completely stressed and overwhelmed by everything. I would tell you not to worry, but if someone gave me that advice, I would probably spit on them. :) Just to give you some history on me... I developed a panic disorder about 15 years ago, and it was REALLY bad for a long time.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. There's really no way to make a long story short in this case, so please just bear with me. :) In 2001, I was diagnosed with depression and put on Zoloft. Since then (barring the first few weeks of trying to find the right med/dosage combination for me), I've been on 150 mg of Zoloft daily, and it's always seemed to work really well for me.
Avatar f tn I find myself putting my fingers in my neck to check my pulse throughout the day and I get lightheaded when I think about panic attacks, I have been prescribed zoloft, but I havve not taken it yet because when they first put me on meds they gave me celexa and I got the most horrible feeling when I took it after 3 days. I was doing good for about a month and then out of nowhere they came back.
Avatar f tn ) Starting right off at a dosage that is too high for you can actually *cause* a panic attack-- I ended up in an ER with my heart pounding out of my chest the first time I tried 20mg of an SSRI. Which was way worse than the original symptoms that I took the med for. Doctors pretty much guess at what your initial dosage should be, based on your height, weight, severity of symtoms. I found that, over 9 years of taking Paxil, less was definitely more.
Avatar n tn ve tried several medications for anxiety and panic attacks, but have had major side effects from them all. Zoloft, Celexa, etc. My doctor recently prescribed Prozac for my anxiety and panic attacks. In reading about Prozac, it does list anxiety and panic, but they are down the list a ways. Does anyone know if Prozac is a good choice for this? I don't want to take them if they aren't going to do anything. I don't have OCD, which seems to be the main disorder Prozac is prescribed for.
1428559 tn?1283094093 Also, does anyone else have anxiety/panic disorder and is pregnant? Did you get taken off your meds or were they switched? Is your anxiety worse now that you're pregnant? I'm just really scared about this. Any and all answers would be greatly appreciated!!
Avatar m tn I am 27 years old and I have been on 50mg of Zoloft for almost 3 years due to panic disorder. I am now trying to wean myself off and have been having the horrible "brain zaps" and/or "brain shivers". I am weaning by doctors orders. I have done half the dosage (25 mg) every day for 2 weeks and then 25 mg every other day for 2 weeks. This is my 4th day since I have taken nothing and the zaps are pretty bad.
